Snow White And The Huntsman Sequel Confirmed

A 'Snow White and the Huntsman' sequel has been commissioned with Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth both set to reprise their roles as the titular characters.

A 'Snow White and the Huntsman' sequel has been confirmed.

The fantasy adventure movie - starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth as the titular characters - took more than $55 million at the US box office over its opening weekend, leading to Warner Bros. greenlighting a follow-up.

David Koepp has been commissioned to write the new script, which will pick up after the events of the first movie.

Kristen and Chris will return as they are both optioned for two more movies although it is unclear if there will be a role for Charlize Theron's evil queen.

There is also no word on if director Rupert Sanders - who made his feature film debut with 'Snow White and the Huntsman' - will return for the sequel.

Chris and Kristen have previously joked that they are writing the follow up but conceded it probably wouldn't be very successful.

When Kristen was asked if she was writing a movie with boyfriend Robert Pattinson, the actress said, 'No,' but Chris claimed he and the actress are working on a script.

He said: ''We are. 'Snow White and the Huntsman 2' written by us, and it might be more of a straight-to-video version if they let us write it.''

Kristen added: ''It'll be better. Our version? We've basically written it. No, I'm kidding. We're gonna write the second one, all of us [in the cast].''

Of all the movies you choose to nitpick K-Stew's acting it's the one wherein she plays a character that spends nearly her lifetime in a cell? I think her subdued acting (or lack thereof) suits the film well much like Charlize Theron's ultra hammy performance.

disappointed...i was expecting an epic battle or something after all the trailer hype. found it funny that Kristen only had a few lines in the entire movie and her speech was kinda cheesy. some scenes are kinda disconnected...like when the huntsman was teaching Snow White how to fight while they were in the dark forest. i don't think William's character is necessary. but he's kind of a badass bowman though, i think they should've just made the William character the huntsman.

It was tongue in cheek obviously, hence the "lack thereof".

Basically what I'm trying to say is this is the role that best fits her "acting" and should be immune from criticism since it's a girl who lived half of her life in a cell.

Stew's really good at being awkward. It's like watching her as Bella Swan pa din, nothing special. The movie was great because of the evil queen's character, ang creepy!

idk why are you guys "fighting" over kristen's & charlize's acting? done! wala na kayo magagawa.. snowwhite and queen ravena na sila.. #justsaying

... As usual ang haba ng hair ni Kristen. 2 boys na naman.

    The Cinemaniac Review

Regardless of what she does, some people are going to hate Kristen Stewart forever. I can understand being tired of the Twilight hype. Really, I can. But I can’t understand condemning an actor or actress indefinitely because of one role in their filmography. Some of my favorite actors have taken roles that might make other people dislike them. This is kind of unfair, mainly because you can’t make an educated decision about anything without having all the facts. In other words, you can’t say someone is a bad actor based on one role. Nevertheless, this is the fate that has plagued Stewart. The people that can’t stand her weren’t even going to entertain the idea that she might play a fine Snow White. Other people pictured the dark-haired, blue and yellow dress clad lady from the Disney cartoon and couldn’t fathom how Stewart was even chosen. Well, news flash people: Disney didn’t invent Snow White. The tale goes all the way back to the beginning of the 19th century. Snow White and the Huntsman, the latest incarnation of the story, pairs Stewart with Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.

In a nutshell, Snow White’s mother Queen Eleanor (Liberty Ross) dies unexpectedly, leaving Snow White in the care of her father King Magnus (Noah Huntley). A short time later, Magnus finds a shivering, frightened woman named Ravenna (Theron) in the back of a carriage. Ravenna’s uncanny beauty staggers Magnus, who promptly takes her as his wife and new queen. But something is amiss with Ravenna; she is no ordinary woman. On their first night together as man and wife, Ravenna murders Magnus, thereby becoming the sole ruler of the land. Needless to say, she does not like Snow White, and subsequently locks her away in a remote tower in the castle – and there she remains for years.

Fast forward to nearly a decade later, Snow White is accosted in her cell by Ravenna’s brother Finn (Sam Spruell), a quietly menacing man who looks like he came from the far reaches of Europe during the time of the Black Death. Snow White manages to escape Finn’s grip and takes off through the narrow stone walls of the castle before spilling out into the dark forest, a place no one, including Ravenna’s minions, will dare to explore.

Ravenna will not accept Snow White’s disappearance and immediately seeks out a capable huntsman to find her and drag her back to the castle. As it turns out, this huntsman (Hemsworth) is a burly, crass brute who is unimpressed with the queen’s self-proclaimed magnificence. In fact, he doesn’t even really want to take the job of finding Snow white, but the multiple guards standing around him with sharp weapons persuade him otherwise. From there on out, his mission is simple: find Snow White, bring her back to the queen. No more, no less.

    Snow White and the Huntsman

I want to preface my remarks here by saying that Snow White and the Huntsman had a really good look to it. There was just the right balance of old world darkness and new world special effects to create something really special. Kristen Stewart did a fine job as Snow White, despite what her critics will have everyone believe. I admit that if I were casting this movie, I may not have immediately thought to offer Stewart the role; but after seeing Huntsman, I understand why. Like many people who have seen the Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, I had an ironclad image in my head of what Snow White should look like. It is an unintentional, subliminal assumption that Snow White should be almost cartoonish, even if played by a real actress. She should be bright and colorful, almost magic-like. In that regard, no actress would have been able to fill those animated shoes.

Stewart plays Snow White as a down-to-earth princess, a woman with noble blood and a humble heart. She isn’t a stereotypical princess, but this isn’t a stereotypical movie. There is a subtle lightheartedness sprinkled throughout, but you will have to wade through layers of dark undertones to find it. At the root, this is a dark story; it’s not Disney, it’s the Brothers Grimm. This movie looks slightly medieval, which gives it a much deeper feeling. At one point in the latter half, Snow White abandons her airy dress for armor, silently calling upon the ghost of Joan of Arc to carry her into battle. It is a feast for the eyes.

Chris Hemsworth’s character is very Thor-like, and it’s no surprise considering that this is the kind of role Hollywood feels he was born to play. I’ve really only seen him play against type in Cabin in the Woods. Granted, he was still cast as the jockish (read: brainless) type, so maybe the powers that be refuse to let him play anything else. For his part, Hemsworth was a good huntsman. We all know that, even though he’s supposed to be hunting Snow White for the queen’s benefit, he will eventually have a change of heart and switch teams. It’s a common occurrence in films where the hunter begins to sympathize with his target (Midnight Run, anyone?).

In my opinion, the true standout of Snow White and the Huntsman is Charlize Theron. Her performance as Ravenna was spot on. I’ve been hearing a lot of flak about Theron overacting or being too dramatic. To that I ask: has anyone taken the time to understand the kind of person this evil queen is supposed to be? She is vain and full of self-adoration! She is dramatic, and she’s unreasonable; she’s a self-entitled man eater with a fondness for sucking the beauty out of young girls to stay vibrant. She has an army of black glass warriors and a mirror that shape-shifts into a hooded monk simply to compliment her. So with all that in mind, how should Theron have played her? Subdued? Reserved? Classy? Exactly. I think these naysayers just need something to complain about. Theron’s Ravenna was malevolent and complex, the way an evil queen should be.

Snow White and the Huntsman runs just over two hours, but it’s not a long two hours. This is an enjoyable film, carefully and beautifully shot, and with a good amount of depth. And if you’re someone who desperately needs that Disney connection, there are dwarfs, and they carry pick-axes.

Charlize Theron is the saving grace of this movie. It's the first time that actually felt drawn to the evil queen instead of the heroine.

Cinematography was beautiful. I love that "land of the fairies".

I had a hard time understanding Chris Hemsworth. Ang thick ng accent nya.

Oh and a sequel? No no. I don't think this deserves a follow-up movie.

The movie's too long. This movie doesn't deserve a sequel. KStew should just keep on doing roles that don't require much acting or roles that require her to be jaded or angry.
