Product Control is.. well, Product Controlling. I am not that familiar with Product Control Group or PCG as a team/process but I think it has something to do with the traders of the countries they are serving such as producing PnL figures/reports in relation to trades etc.

Opinion? Since it is also part of the CSS umbrella and functions, expect the same. Just be prepared. Best of luck!

Compare the salary offered by both companies as well as the benefits. If it's the same I'd go to HSBC kasi wala masyadong OT dun.

I would not know. I have never been part of HSBC.

But considering both banks' respective financial positions, I think Citibank is better off. I think.

I'm sure refermetociti and Daiju will agree with this, no work-life balance in Citi, sorry just being honest based on experience

Yeah, no work-life balance in Citi, I can't speak in behalf of HSBC because I've never worked there.

Try to consider the location too.

thank you for all the help. just so you know, i have considered the work-life balance and location, and i have just rejected the offer from CitiBank. now im just waiting for the formalities in HSBC. may this decision not haunt me in the future. haha. thanks again everyone

yep. entry - level lang since fresh grad ako. gumawa ka lang profile sa website nila tapos dun ka mag-apply. go to the citibank website tapos access mo careers. tapos antay ka ng tawag sa kanila. late nga lang sila sumagot. like 1-2 months after mo masend resume mo dun sa site. medyo marami sigurong pinoprocess ang HR ng citi eh.

  13. #193
Well honestly speaking, a fresh grad's priority should ideally be learning and gaining experience rather than work-life balance.

But yes, Newbie_101 and Daiju are right. Work-life imbalance lang meron sa CSS with work weighing heavier obviously. But then again, how sure are we that there is work-life balance in HSBC? Remember, we are talking about banks here. What if sa settlements ka mapunta or sa back office in general? Madugo doon at ma-OT. Patay na! Haha!

spaz_comingsoon, ask mo si Daiju. Fresh grad siya tapos naka-experience agad ng work-life imbalance (that was last year). Hingi ka ng tips kung paano gumawa ng resignation letter. You might be drafting one very soon. Haha! Just kidding.

Best of luck with your decision.

nice to talk to a hardcore CitiBank employee. being able to talk to a hardcore citibank employee and a hardcore hsbc employee, i have been able to discern what i really want.

    1) Just because there is a work-life balance, or better work-life balance, it doesn't mean that you will not learn anything. i think HSBC is also at par with CitiBank as a world-class bank. no offense.

    2) well, i expect OT whatever bank i go to. so, i chose the bank that is nearer my house. and that is HSBC.

    3) lastly, i talked to a lot of people in various fora, and i found out that - there were people from CitiBank transferring to HSBC, and i actually never read about people transferring to Citibank from HSBC. hence, the odds of drafting a resignation letter is very small. although, your warning is well taken into consideration.

    4) like what i said, may this decision not haunt me in the future

    THANKS

Is anyone familiar with Citi's global transaction services unit (Makati office)? Specifically their management associate program (this is like their MT program but the rotation will be localized within their GTS unit)?

    (1) Yes, both banks are world class banks but that does not necessarily mean good financials/performance, processes etc. Regarding work-life balance and learning, cross the bridge when you get there.

    (2) Okay.

    (3) You might also want to consider Citibank and HSBC at a business/legal entity level. You might just be comparing CSS (Citibank's shared services arm) with HDPP (HSBC's shared services arm which I think is the one you chose). Citibank "the bank" and HSBC "the bank" are entirely different from the aforementioned. Drafting your resignation letter very soon was meant as a joke. Do not take it seriously.

    (4) Yes, I hope so too.

    (1) It is. HSBC is Citi's direct competitor and not Jp Morgan and Deustche.

    (2) HSBC in QC is just like CSS so expect a lot of OT but I haven't heard stories in HSBC where employees work double shifts pero since it's nearer there's more time to sleep.

    (3) The people from Citi transferring to HSBC are usually the people who lives in QC area, thus it's more convenient for them to work there than in Makati. Employees who work in CSS are mostly from the south.

Take into consideration na din if you like what you're doing there or if you're learning at all kasi if you're in a back office there's very little chance na madami ka matututunan.

By the way, what school ka graduate? dlsu?
