Piolo Pascual & Angelica Panganiban say they were overwhelmed by the ‘Every Breathe U Take’ premiere




It was a busy day for Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban last May 15, Tuesday as they spent the entire afternoon on the Every Breathe U Take Choochoo Tour which had them riding the MRT and LRT trains all over the city. Then they headed to the red carpet premiere of the film at SM Megamall where they admitted to feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of fans waiting for them to make an appearance. The premiere also drew a lot of celebrity guests like Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Eugene Domingo, Vice Ganda, Kean Cipriano, Melai Cantiveros, Jayson Gainza, and comedian Pooh. The film’s director Mae Cruz was escorted down the red carpet by cast member Ryan Bang while Wendy Valdez showed up on her own. “Masaya kami at saka nagpapasalamat din kami sa mga nandito, yung mga kaibigan namin sa industriya, yung mga Kapamilya namin,” she told Push.com.ph.

Angelica admitted that she was happy with the reaction of the audience during the screening of Star Cinema’s newest romantic comedy. “Nakakatuwa na kumbaga kung ano yung gusto naming ma-achieve eh yun ang binibigay nila so masarap pakinggan yung mga tawa nila kasabay namin,” she shared.

Piolo said he enjoyed the whole experience, especially with having Angelica as his newest leading lady. “It’s fun. It’s the first time that we saw the film and it was really enjoyable. I’m going to miss the whole team. With Angel it’s hard to keep up with her acting. Sobra. Pinanunuod ko na lang siya eh. It’s an honor to be acting with Angel because napakagaling at saka napaka-natural,” he admitted.

In the film, Angel plays Majoy, a hopeless romantic who looks for signs to point her to her true love whole Piolo plays Leo, a playboy who likes breaking rules. In real life, Piolo said he believes in destiny while Angel admitted she can relate to her character. “Pero lahat ng signs naman pinakita na sa amin ni papa P! (laughs)” she joked.

For the two stars, they said it was hard to choose just one favorite scene in the whole movie. “Madami eh, sobrang parang every scene memorable sa amin. Masaya lang. I mean, lahat ng eksena. Buong pelikula favorite namin,” Angelica said.

Piolo also commended the rest of the cast which includes Ryan, Wendy, Smokey Manaloto, Ryan Eigenmann, Joross Gamboa, Frenchie Dy, Regine Angeles, Cacai Bautista, Carlos Agassi, Nova Villa, Ketchup Eusebio, and Janus Del Prado. “I’m a fan of the film. Even all the members of the cast gave their best so it was really fun watching everyone,” he said.

As part of Star Cinema’s 19th anniversary offering, even Piolo was impressed after watching their finished product. “For me it’s just fun. It’s what you expect if you want to be entertained, kung gusto mo mag-enjoy, tumawa. Kung yun ang gusto mo, for two hours ma-re-relax ka talaga. Siguro it’s a bonus na kasama ako sa pelikula pero watching the film I was really entertained. I hope you all watch it. Showing na in all cinemas nationwide,” he said.

Isa si Piolo Pascual sa mga artistang paboritong pukulin ng mga intriga.

Kadalasan ay mga below the belt na nga ang mga kontrobersiya at intrigang napagdaanan niya, pero sa kabila nito ay nananatiling matatag at matibay pa rin ang aktor para harapin ang mga ito.

Sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Piolo sa set ng Dahil Sa Pag-ibig noong Miyerkules, June 27, sa isang compound sa Antipolo, sinabi ng matinee idol na wala siya anumang sama ng loob sa patuloy na naninira o pumupukol ng mga intriga sa kanya.

Pahayag niya, “It’s part of the trade.

“The most important thing is having the right faith.

"Otherwise, kapag wala kang paniniwala o pananampalataya sa Itaas, mabubuwag at mabubuwag ka.

“Pinapasa-Diyos ko na lang ang lahat, tao lang ako.

“Ako, I can safely say na may peace ako, nakakatulog ako ‘pag gabi.

“Hindi naman ako palaaway na tao, bahala na ang tao mag-isip at makipag-away. Problema na nila ‘yun.

“Basta ako, okay ako.”

STILL OPEN. Bukas na aklat na hindi maganda ang naging paghihiwalay nila ng ex-girlfriend na si KC Concepcion.

Sa kabila ng lahat ng nangyari ay hindi nagsasarado ng pinto si Piolo sa bagong relasyon kung darating muli ito sa buhay niya.

“Siyempre naman open ako diyan,” sambit ng aktor.

“Nakakaramdam naman tayo ng ganyan, tao tayo.

“Saka hindi naman nababaling sa trabaho ang lahat niyan kaya antay lang tayo

“Mabuti naman ang blessings, sunud-sunod ang trabaho, so tanggap lang nang tanggap para hindi na natin maisip.

“Habang bata, habang kaya, trabaho lang nang trabaho.”

Ayon kay Piolo, ang isa sa nagsisilbing inspirasyon niya ngayon ay ang magagandang nangyayari sa kanyang career.

“Yung trabaho ko… I am happy where I am, I am able to do a lot of things.

“Nakapag-Kimmy Dora tayo, nakapag-anniversary ng Star Magic, magkakasunod na soap, at magkakapelikula pa ako.

“If that person be given, it will be given in God’s time, in the proper time.”

PIOLO’S SON. Kasalukuyang nasa bansa at nagbabakasyon ang binatang anak ni Piolo na si Iñigo, kaya kasa-kasama ito ng aktor sa mga taping at shooting.

Kuwento ng aktor, “Tuwing summer nandito siya. I make it a point that we spend time together because sobra yung trabaho ko.

“Whenever I get the chance na pumunta ng States, two weeks lang.

"Suwerte nang tumagal ako ng lampas pa sa two weeks, so sobrang blessed sa akin na ‘pag summer sa States.

“Siya na yata yung pinakamatiyaga na kasama ko sa trabaho, hindi nagko-complain ‘yan.

“He doesn’t do anything, tambay lang, tulog... kasama ko siya everywhere.

“Kung saan kami abutan, dun kami matutulog. We do a lot of things together.”

Ngunit sa kabila nito ay naninindigan pa rin ang aktor na huwag munang payagang pumasok sa showbiz ang anak.

“Ayoko talaga siyang mag-showbiz,” diin ni Piolo.

“Gusto ng bata, pero sabi ko sa kanya, bigyan niya muna ako ng high school diploma niya.

“He has four years ‘til he turns 18.

“Wala naman tayong kontrol diyan, pero I’ll be happy kung mabibigyan niya ako ng degree—siyempre compromise.

“’Pag 18 na siya, bahala na siya sa buhay niya. Pero kung ako ang papipiliin, pag-aaral talaga.”

LAST NIGHT. Mamayang gabi, June 29, na ang huling gabi ng Dahil Sa Pag-ibig, ang primetime series sa ABS-CBN na kinabibilangan ni Piolo.

Ayon sa aktor, mixed emotions ang nararamdaman niya sa pagtatapos ng nasabing serye kung saan ang role niya ay isang pari.

“Masaya na malungkot kasi iba yung feeling na nakapagsimula at nakatapos ka ng isang proyekto na successful.

“Malungkot kasi magpapaalam ka na naman sa mga nakasama mo, na naging pamilya mo for six months since we started last year. Mula nung kino-conceptualize, casting and everything.

“It’s hard pero ganun talaga, e.

“Masaya dahil mag-e-end ka nang hindi mabigat sa dibdib mo, pero mabigat kasi mami-miss mo ang mga kasama mo.

“We’re happy because we gave our best,” pahayag niya.

Kitang-kita sa mga eksena ang tagisan ng husay sa pagganap ng mga major characters sa Dahil Sa Pag-ibig; partikular na sina Piolo, Jericho Rosales, at Christopher de Leon.

Pero ayon kay Piolo, “Actually, never naming naramdaman na may patagisan.

“Since the time we started taping, never nagkaroon ng instance na nagpagalingan with Tito Boyet, Jericho—or even si AA [Cristine Reyes] or Maricar [Reyes]. Never ako nakaramdam na may competition.

“Lahat kami give and take, everyone’s exerting extra effort para mapaganda yung eksena.

“It’s a collective effort. Ang ganda ng kinalabasan because of the collaboration of writers, directors, and among us artists dahil sobra yung disiplina at pagmamahal sa craft.”

Panay papuri rin si Piolo sa dalawang leading ladies ng Dahil Sa Pag-ibig na sina Cristine at Maricar.

“Si Maricar, the last time I’ve worked with her was in Lovers in Paris.

"Ang laki na rin ng binago niya. Mas comfortable na siya.

“Ever since naman daw si Maricar, ang galing umarte talaga.

“Dito sa Dahil Sa Pag-ibig, mas may kumpiyansa na siya, mas kumportable na siya.

“Makikita mo na bilang artista, nakakapaglaro na siya ng character, so mas masarap to do a scene with her."

Patuloy ni Piolo, “Si AA, revelation siya sa akin because first time ko siyang makatrabaho.

“Hindi ko akalain na ganun pala siya kagaling umarte. Napaka-sensitive, ang dali niyang maapektuhan, ang dali niyang madala.

“Ang liit ng bewang… sabi ko nga, ang sexy ng batang ito, ang sexy, ang ganda… talagang walang pores.

“’Tapos ‘pag tumingin, walang effort.

“Nakakamangha minsan na panoorin at tingnan kasi ang ganda-ganda niya.

“Ang galing-galing niya, ‘tapos yun na siya.”

THIRD PARTY? Hiningi rin ng PEP ang reaksiyon si Piolo sa pagkakadawit ng pangalan niya sa sinasabing muntik-muntikan na raw pagbi-break ni Cristine at ng boyfriend nitong si Rayver Cruz.

Sabi niya, “Lalabas at lalabas din naman ang totoo.

“I think they’re still together. Nakikita ko sila sa ASAP, nag-aasaran pa rin kami.

“Rayver and I are friends so hindi nawawala yung asaran sa ASAP.

“You see them, so yun na yun.”

NEW TELESERYE. Bagamat matatapos pa lamang ang Dahil Sa Pag-ibig mamayang gabi, next week ay magsisimula nang mag-taping si Piolo para sa susunod niyang teleserye, ang Apoy Sa Dagat.

Makakatambal niya muli rito si Angelica Panganiban.

Sabi ni Piolo, “I am a fan of Angelica.

“She’s very comfortable doing what she’s doing, hindi siya maarte na ‘pag pinaarte mo, mahihirapan siya—bigay lang siya nang bigay.

“Excited ako kasi sa Every Breath You Take, magkasama kami for one year.

“At sa movie na yun, makikita mo how funny she was. Sa soap, dramahan naman kami.

“Nung magkasama kami sa Mangarap Ka, batang-bata pa siya.

“Marami na siya ngayong experiences, marami na siyang pinaghuhugutan.”
