P25M for it's 1st wk run is very disappointing per star cinema standards! Hardly a blockbuster! Promo dept of ABS-CBN always says their movie is huge on it's first day of showing just to drum up noise thus making people go see the movie.

'Every Breath U Take' earns P25.5M in five days



MANILA, Philippines – Star Cinema’s “Every Breath U Take” earned an estimated P25,517,397 in its first five days in theaters, latest data from the website Box Office Mojo showed.

The romantic comedy starring Angelica Panganiban and Piolo Pascual was also the top-grossing movie in the Philippines for the period May 16-20, as it squeaked past the blockbuster hit “The Avengers,” which tumbled to No. 2 after spending the last three weeks as the country’s top movie.

The superhero movie has now earned P616,933,823 since its release in the Philippines four weeks ago, solidifying its position as the all-time top-grossing film in the country. On its fourth week, “The Avengers” was still playing on 158 screens, compared to only 130 for “Every Breath U Take.”

“Every Breath U Take” also had the best debut among the four new releases for the period. Jason Statham’s latest action caper “Safe” bowed at No. 5 with estimated earnings of P4,460,445, while the animated movie, “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” earned P2,073,521 at No. 7.

The chick flick “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” starring Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez bombed as it failed to hit even the P1-million mark, earning only P849,230 in its first weekend.

The other local movie on the charts, the Mother’s Day offering “The Mommy Returns,” has now earned P27,775,159 after two weekends.

Happy pareho sina Piolo Pascual at Angelica Panganiban na despite nagbukas na sa something like 100 sinehan ang bagong movie ng Star Cinema, Born to Love You, starring Coco Martin and Angeline Quinto, extended pa rin ang showing ng kanilang movie na Every Breath U Take.

Lalong natutuwa raw sila sa magandang feedback na natatanggap ng movie kahit, wika nga, sa critics.

For them, Every Breath… served its purpose — to entertain. The film is entertaining from beginning to end.

“I’ve seen the movie not just once, but a few more times,” ani Angelica. “With different friends, na iba-iba ang age.

“Natutuwa ako dahil they enjoyed watching it.”

Anytime now, according to Angelica, she is set to start shooting for a new movie, One More Try, with Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes and Zanjoe Marudo. Box-office director Ruel Bayani megs the project.

While she has worked with Dingdong na in Segunda Mano, it’s her first time raw to be working with Angel and Zanjoe.

‘Every Breath U Take’ Grosses P42.8-M in 2 Weeks

The Piolo Pascual-Angelica Panganiban starrer–”Every Breath U Take”–has raked in P42.8 million in 2 weeks.



Topping the local box-office for the weekend period of May 23 to 27, 2012 is “Men in Black 3” with a 5-day gross of P71.22 million.

“Every Breath U Take” settled for second place on its second week with the current total gross of P42.8 million.

The other Pinoy movie, “The Mommy Returns“, has grossed P30.6 million in 3 weeks.

The highest-grossing movie in the Philippines for the year 2012 so far is “Marvel’s The Avengers” with a current box-office total of P640.26 million.

Piolo teases new 'water-themed' teleserye

MANILA, Philippines – Immediately following his stint as Father Alfred in television series "Dahil sa Pag-Ibig," dramatic actor Piolo Pascual is set to take on a "very physical" role in ABS-CBN's next big teleserye.

Pascual, who is down to his last four weeks portraying the conflicted priest, said he is readying to take on conflicts and challenges of more overt form in his newest project with the Kapamilya network.

The Ultimate Heartthrob, whose latest film "Every Breath U Take" saw his team-up with actress Angelica Panganiban, also revealed that he will be paired with the young actress anew in his next TV project.

"I'm supposed to do a soap with Angelica Panganiban. It's drama, maganda 'yung concept, kaya hindi ko rin natanggihan," Pascual said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Friday.

The hunk actor also took pride in the new show's "difficult concept," teasing it will feature a "water element."

"ABS has to come up with new, difficult concepts. It's big, we're going places. [It's] very phsyical, it's physically challenging -- may water element, that's all I can say," he said.

The "water" show, which will also star actor Diether Ocampo, will begin taping right after wrap-up of "Dahil sa Pag-Ibig," Pascual said.

On the last four weeks of his current primetime-starrer, Pascual said he is excited to see all the conflicts in the show meet their resolution.

"We're so excited dahil malapit na matapos. Ito na 'yung part ng soap na pinakamahirap because a lot of revelations, a lot of conflicts will be resolved," he said.

"Dahil sa Pag-Ibig" airs weeknights after "Walang Hanggan" during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

KUNG ang feeling ni Manang Cristy Fermin ay maaalarma ang mga Top Executive ng Star Cinema sa sunud-sunod na birada niya sa kanyang mga kolum sa mga magaganda at quality films na pinu-produce ng nasabing number one movie outfit, pwes, nagkakamali ang gurang na golden girl dahil unang-una, wala naman itong alam sa kalakaran ng film making dahil ang alam lang nito ay manira ng kapwa at mag-ala balatagtasan sa hindi nagri-rate na Juice-less.

Bakit ba tila galit na galit ito at sour graping sa ABS-CBN na minsa’y nagpala sa kanya? Hindi naman nila kasalanan kung bakit natigbak ka sa The Buzz. It’s all your fault orocanang chaka at oslang TV host. Wala ka na kasing ginawa kundi bantayan ang mga pelikula ng Star Cinema at sira-siraan ang mga ito.

Bakit? Nagpalabas ba sila ng press release na blockbuster ang movie ni Piolo Pascual at Angelica Panganiban na Every Breath You Take? Oo, hindi siya hit na hit pero nakabawi naman sila. Pero rito sa Born To Love You na unang tambalan nina Coco Martin at Angeline Quinto, timbog ka Manang Cristy dahil as of presstime, maganda ang resulta nito sa takilya. Another thing, ano bang alam mo sa film making? Kaya po dumidiskubre ng mga new talent ang Star Cinema at bigyan nila ng break ang mga ito ay para mag-evolve naman ang ating movie industry.
