NANOOD kami ng Every Breath U Take, last Thursday na pinagbibidahan nina Piolo Pascual at Angelica Panganiban. In fairness for that ordinary day at second to the last screening ng araw na ‘yun ay puno ang sinehan.

Hindi ako nagandahan sa trailer ng nasabing pelikula pero ng mapanood namin ay nagustuhan namin. Aliw ang movie at mahusay ang writer at direktor nito na si Mae Cruz dahil napagtagumpayan n’yang pakiligin ang manonood.

Ganito palang mga pelikula ang bagay kay Piolo na feel good movie. Sa pagtabo ng nasabing pelikula, ibig sabihin lamang ay nakabawi ang aktor at hindi nakaapekto ang mga negatibong intriga.

Speaking of Angel, masaya si Derek sa tagumpay ng nasabing pelikula, Ipinagtanggol naman n’ya ang dating nobya sa mga intrigang gimik lamang daw ang kanilang break-up para mapag-usapan at makatulong sa pagkita ng kanilang pelikula.

Sey ng aktor, hindi nga raw nagsasalita si Angel. Hindi naman daw nakapagtataka na kumita ang pelikula dahil maganda ito. S’ya nga raw ay magbabayad sa sinehan para manood at ipakita ang kanyang suporta. Hangad din n’ya na isa sa mga araw na ito ay uupo sila ni Angel para makapag-usap.

After the box-office success of Star Cinema’s Every Breath You Take; another offering, Born To Love You, still taken from a title of a hit song comes our way on Wednesday, May 30, says promo diva Josie Pereyra of JSP Ads & Promotions.

This is the much-awaited team-up of Coco Martin and Star Factor winner Angeline Quinto, her first acting attempt. Coco is said to be her “crush” and she’s so candid to admit, though said in jest, that she enjoyed their kissing scene which was shot in several takes.

Will Coco and Angeline come to Cebu for the promo of the movie? Let’s wait and see. The last time a movie promo was graced with the presence of a cast member was that of Corazon where Derek Ramsay came to town.

PANGANIBAN AND PASCUAL. Who knew love could be this dangerous?



IT’S always a treat to watch Angelica Panganiban—even when the movie she stars in turns out to be a downer. In “Every Breath U Take,” the versatile actress once again proves that her comedic style is as impressive as her dramatic flair.

In Mae Czarina Cruz’s screwball rom-com, Panganiban portrays clueless Majoy Marasigan, who relies on signs and serendipity to guide her through life’s tough hurdles. But when the gullible virgin sets her sights on the elusive Leo Dimalanta (Piolo Pascual), Majoy unwittingly sets herself up for heartbreak when she fails to see the inveterate playboy hiding deceptively behind Leo’s sensitive eyes, dashing good looks, and ripped physique.

Gorgeous pairing

If you’re familiar with the Filipino rom-com genre, you won’t need signs and magical visions to know how this movie plays out—which is a shame, because it gets off to a good start. In fact, the production hits the ground running as it establishes the whats, whys and wherefores of the narrative, bolstered further by Piolo and Angelica’s gorgeous pairing!

It doesn’t take long for the film to lose steam, however, as its story meanders into loopy detours that throw the movie out of whack. As it careens willy-nilly into a perfunctory finale, the production allows its zany supporting characters to take over Majoy and Leo’s love story and dilute its impact.

Thereafter, the couple finds themselves in the ensuing melee that involves Majoy’s Korean suitor, Ji Sun (the endearing and hilarious Ryan Bang); Leo’s desperate girlfriend, Dianne (Wendy Valdez), and her doting but demented brothers (Smokey Manaloto, Carlos Agassi and Joross Gamboa), and Leo’s manipulative, gun-toting rival, Mario (Ryan Eigenmann). Who knew love could be this dangerous?

Reason

The dreamy Piolo can portray his role with eyes closed—but the 35-year-old heartthrob is starting to look a little long in the tooth as the career-driven character into whom he’s required to breathe thespic life—a role that’s better suited for younger guys. And, despite the reason offered by the script to explain Leo’s seeming misogyny, his psychological motivation fails to transform his actions into an empathetic portrayal to which one can relate. Moreover, his sudden change of heart is too much of a knee-jerk reaction to be believable.

For her part, Panganiban breezes through the complex—and contrasting—requirements of her role. She shifts from drama to comedy (and back) seamlessly—as she effectively demonstrates in the “Ano ba’ng ibig sabihin ng gullible?” scene, in which she makes viewers laugh and cry at the same time. That is certainly no mean feat!

Star Cinema has released the movie poster for their first rom-com movie for 2012.

Star Cinema’s first romantic-comedy movie for 2012 is also their 19th anniversary offering!
Titled “Every Breath U Take,” the film stars Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban, and helmed by Mae Czarina Cruz–the director of the Sam Milby-Anne Curtis starrer “Babe, I Love You” and the Sarah Geronimo-Gerald Anderson starrer “Catch Me…I’m In Love.”
Also starring in the movie are Carlos Agassi, Ryan Eigenmann, Smokey Manaloto, Ketchup Eusebio, Joross Gamboa, Janus del Prado,Wendy Valdez, Regine Angeles, Cacai Bautista, Frenchie Dy, and Ms. Nova Villa. Introducing Ryan Bang and with special participation of Dominic Ochoa and Lito Legaspi.

Star Cinema, the home of Filipino romantic films, romantic comedies or comedy romance will be celebrating it's 19th Anniversary with the return of Star Cinema's leading man and hearthrob Piolo Pascual teaming up with Angelica Panganiban on Every breath U Take. Another romantic comedy film that can elicit the feeling of "kilig" (twitterpatted) to romantic comedy (Star Cinema) film fans.

Well what can't be said about Star Cinema romantic films, that it is going to be a blockbuster success just like it has always been in the past. It is going to be your standard romantic comedy that person first falls in love with another person, then the opposite person falls in love with that person, but then some conflict arises which may affect their relationship but in the end love will come through and live happily ever after. If by any chance this film doesn't use that formula, let me be struck by lightning and not cease to exist in the blogosphere Hahahaha. Even with all of the cliche I mentioned, women or couples who love their chick flicks will definitely see this, not to mention Star cinema or Piolo Pascual fans. I personally find Angelica's character charming in this teaser, let's just wait for the official trailer that will tell the inevitable conflict that will be (and always) present on such film genre.

When you see this movie you would recognize an attempt to bring in something else to the story aside from the usual rom-com fare. The mere existence of the lunatics (siblings Smokey Manoloto, Joross Gamboa, Carlos Agassi, Wendy Valdez, +Ryan Bang) is a clear proof that they are aiming for an ensemble comedy with a tongue-in-cheek treatment, or something to that effect. The sad thing is that this attempt proves to be ineffective and goes head to head with the romance angle, which makes the movie seem as though it is lost in the director's struggle to find balance between the two. Everything else seems to be a hodgepodge of half-baked attempts on coherent storytelling.
