pinaka-kurakot na eskwelahan sa Las Pinas. Feeling La Salle Zobel. Gahaman yang si Mrs. Suarez at Alido. Pinapatay ang critical thinking ng mga estudyante.

Sorry ka, I belong to the alumni batch that was the biggest pain in the rump for Suarez, Agbuya, and company. In your face, hehehehe

Our batch gave her a national embarrassment.

    hi ma'am!

i'm an alumni of seton (batch 2008). the education is very competitive and has high standards compared to other schools. a holistic growth in each student is visioned by the school through the several activities that are done every month. classrooms are not airconditioned and only has three walls (please dont be surprised).

through the Ubdized (some education term) curriculum of seton, it has been awarded with:

Dear Members of the Seton Community,

In July 2010, exactly one and a half years ago, a contest was launched by ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation and Knowledge Channel to identify the most transformative schools based on six areas:

Excellence in learning effectiveness and school efficiency
    Excellence in curriculum design
    Excellence in learning materials
    Excellence in methodologies
    Excellence in learning spaces
    Excellence in administrative systems
This week, the national screening committee picked seven finalists from all over the Philippines for the final evaluation.

An awardee was chosen for each of the six areas of evaluation. Finding Elizabeth Seton School excellent in all the areas the national awards committee decided to bestow upon Elizabeth Seton school the Excellence in Educational Transformation Award (EETA) as the most transformative school, for thinking big and differently and espousing the culture of Excellence Not Perfection.

The rigid screening, the thorough interviews and class observations were worth all the wait. Despite some problems our school was identified and confirmed to be one of the finest in the country today.

With this major and top award we are challenged to even do better. Thank you everyone, for the wonderful support and your faith in Elizabeth Seton School. We hope we have made you proud.

    Congratulations to all of us!

    Sincerely Yours,
    Josefina V. Suarez, Ed. D.
    President

If you have a daughter, St. Scholastica Manila would be a much better option. Possibly, the best girls' high school in the country.

If you live in Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, or South Area. De La Zalle Zobel would be a better option. After all, Seton is perceived by a lot of people as a DLSU Zobel wannabe. So why not go for the original? Comparative facilities and standards but n terms of reputation, Zobel would be the runaway winner. They have a much stronger alumni support too. Zobel treats its alumni well and their alumni also provide support to the school. Seton doesn't treat its alumni well. They only contact their alumni to suit their wants like that time when Seton was trying to get PAASCU accreditation. So the alumni association isn't active at all. Our batch doesn't even want to hold our reunion in Seton.

Admittedly, the standards are better compared to other schools in the Las Pinas area but one thing that Seton doesn't encourage is CRITICAL THINKING. Students will get into trouble if they protest administration abuses. They are trained to be minions. Students are intelligent but its a totally different thing to be an intellectual. So how can you call it holistic, if students are not allowed to question the teachers and the admin?

Manila Science High School would also be better since most of their graduates get to enter UP or Ateneo.

And of course, if your daughter can handle it, send her to the Philippine Science High school. The subjects they take in their senior years especially in Math and Science have their equivalents in college and are regularly flunked by college students (even UP students).

I'm an alumna of Elizabeth Seton School, and I can say that the school taught me a lot of things that I didn't expect they'd inculcate. Yes, there are times when the faculty screws up and the service sort of fluctuates, but I can say that when they teach, it can actually be effective, especially when you're preparing for college. I know a lot of Seton graduates who do good in college and in work.

Seton is not a Zobel wannabe, that's what I'm going to tell you. It would just look that way probably because of the patterns. But I can tell you, studying at ESS gave me stress and at the same time, a huge advantage in the real world.

You would never go wrong in attending ESS. I'm from ESS-South located in Imus nevertheless we have the same curriculum with our LP rivals. And trust me, the workload will be so hard by the time you get to college all the requirements will just be petiks for you. I haven't graduated yet (I will graduate this march) but I had my 1st cousin attending UST when she was in her 4th year and I was in 1st year HS. And damn, she couldn't believe that I have this workload of projects, portfolios, requirements, research, papers. She told me that I was doing college like workloads in 1ST YEAR HIGH SCHOOL.

Trust me, Seton is hard if you decide to go there. You might not be able to be a top student in HS. You might have a few line of 7 grades here and there but trust me you will be a top student in college. Just ask Seton alumni. BTW, my grade average from 1st to 3rd year was 84. I'm just a normal, middle of the line student. But I was able to pass and get in the AB Economics program of Ateneo.

    Hope I can help

My younger sister and my cousin are from there; the tuition is very affordable compared to mine. They're also quickly gaining recognition for their high standards, and I think it shows when I observe my sister (though not to brag heheh.)

It's a nice school that might be worth a shot.

As a teacher, I suggest you as a parent should interview and inquire from the school. I would also like to suggest other good schools such as Divine Light Academy (along Zapote-Alabang Rd near BFRV), Westfield and Bloomfields within BF Resort. Quality of Teachers and their tenure in the school says a lot about the school, its admin and its system. These are equally good schools in BF Resort. Also, know the kind of environment, Student-teacher ratio, admin and teachers approach and treatment towards students and parents (I would say the bigger the school is the commercial it is, therefore it lessens the nurturing and personal touch and care of admin/teachers to students). There are schools that are school-centered.... there are schools that are student-centered. Please for the sake of your children go seek for yourself because I do not want to sound like I am attacking a certain school here. I know you get what I mean God bless and good luck!

Hi, I'm from the 2010 class of the Highschool and I must say-- it's really good. Well, not to brag but when your kid graduated from this school and gets in college, you're kid could easily cope up with the pace of the requirements. We really do have an edge. You can search up the internet and find articles about this school being hailed as The Most Transformative one. Teachers in highschool, huh, believe me. They're great. You can never find teachers this caring.

One time, we had a class performance on our senior year and we had to stay up until 8pm to rehearse. Our adviser stays with us and even bought us dinner. Me and my friends did have a hard time maintaining a good grade in this school but when we entered college, it comes just like highschool. High school is even more difficult.

For those who are saying that Setonians were deprived from learning Critical Thinking, well, think twice. What I know is that the school's literature curriculum is one of the best. We get to study La Divina Comedia, The Iliad, Odyssey, Anna Karenina, and Lés Miserables. And your kid gets to know how to interact with other people. Believe me, when I entered college there are some lecture where it seems like I'm the only one who has an idea about it.

DLSU-Z Wannabe? Oh, please. Rumor has it that La Salle failed to buy the school. For the record, I'm also a La Sallian. The issue with Zobel is such a fuss. No one cares about it. Not even my friends from Zobel. Seton's been always a feeder of the big universities. Kilala na ng mga prof ang mga Setonian at mataas ang expectations nila sa mga Setonian. Well, for other schools in Las Pinas, they're good but I still opt to be in Seton.

Plus, I get to know how to do class presentations which probably my classmates in college don't really know how. They put all the information in the ppt. Might as well sit down and just let the class read the ppt. Critical thinking-- WELL, I GET TO KNOW HOW TO PSYCHO-ANALYZE NOVELS. MAKE GREAT PAPERWORKS AND REVIEWS. The Science department is really tough though. Baka sinabi lang na barubal kasi hindi pumasa.

Divine Comedy, Anna Karenina, Odyssey, and Les Miserables are works that any high school student worth his salt should know. Using those works to brag about the literature curriculum is pathetic and laughable.

If your English teachers taught you well, you wouldn't be using "cope up with" and "highschool" hahahhaha!

Your subject verb agreement needs work too. If you are narrating something that happened in the past, use the past tense.

Critical thinking is different from psycho-analysis. Please take note of the context where I placed critical thinking. Your example is totally out of line from how I used the phrase. You do know that context plays a role in the creation of meaning, right? Please go back to Mrs. Suarez and tell her that she should refund your tuition fee since reading comprehension is something Seton did not give you.

And that is why you are in DLSU. hahaha

    Lower batch, indeed.

^Same. From Seton South. Ayos naman ang curriculum, pero mahirap pumasa. Hindi ko lang sure kung totoo ngang same ang standards ng south and main. NO HATE PLS.

  20. #20
^Parehas lang yan, mukhang naiiba lang dahil sa teaching style ng mga teachers. Nagkakasundo naman kami ng Seton South friends ko haha and nearly at the same level kami gumraduate nung college. So those in the Cavite area planning to go to ESS, huwag na kayong magpakahirap and sa South narin kayo - education and facilities are pretty much the same.

Well, I believe tama si WTT2012 - you won't be a top student so easily in ESS but kayang kaya maging top student in college kung gugustuhin mo. Hindi siya honors mill like some other schools I know.

I put so much effort towards getting those white/yellow/green cards of excellence (di ko alam kung ganun parin!) nung high school pero ang hirap lang i-sakto with the workload; I missed one on my last year, which didn't qualify me for graduation honors. I made a comeback in DLSU and was successfully able to graduate with a laude.

I personally didn't have much of a culture shock when I entered DLSU in 2008 kasi subjects palang sa ESS eh parang ayaw kaming ipa-graduate

So if you're choosing a school for your kids, I guess ESS is a good school. Mahihirapan kids niyo pero they'll eventually figure out how to work their way, which they'll be able to carry forward. It's probably not the best, but still a competitive choice among other more popular schools in the south like DLSZ and San Beda.
