Hi! Sorry di ako makakasagot sa tanong mo kasi BS-STATer ako pero incoming frosh pa ikaw incoming frosh ka rin?

halos lahat ng tinanong ko (but none who actually took the course) said na mahirap daw. kaya nga nag-iisip akong mag.shift sa MFI. but a huge part of me still sticks with BS-STAT

Hi obs619 and rocketeerletsfly! I'm currently using my friend's account who happens to be a Math major with specialization in computer applications. By the way, she's a blockmate of mine. Anyways I'm a sophomore Statistics student majoring in Actuarial Science. Basically, this course is about insurances and the statistics behind it. Yes it is hard, but then again there is no such thing as an easy course anywhere you go. You don't need to be extra intelligent to take up this course.

I'm actually enjoying it. The thing is, yes, if you actually made it to the world of actuaries you get paid high like 6 figure salaries but, aside from that it actually develops your analytical skills and you learn to appreciate life. Cheesy, I know, but when you get to the heart of the topics it gets a little morbid as you talk about the deaths of people in order to get benefits from insurances.

About the professors, I assure you that the DLSU mathematics department has some of the best professors across the country. Some of them are even known nationally as well as abroad.

The thing is I guess if you learn to appreciate the course at hand then you will enjoy it. It's just a matter of patience and perseverance. As they say, "If you want to live a life of luxury, marry an actuary!" :P

Hmmm, I can't say that because it differs per batch. Our batch, we started 19, now 13 of us are still along the flowchart, 5 of us are delayed and 1 shifted to Math with Computer Applications.

Goodluck sa LOTR! Terror math profs sila. You cannot avoid them. My brother is a BS Stat grad of DLSU. Konti lang grumagraduate from this degree program, but worth it naman daw.
