Well, since you're the affected party, shouldn't it be you asking your board rep about this? Like what you said, we've already got it covered.
On a related note, I'm really impressed at the transformation of Greg Slaughter in the 3 or so months that Norman Black has been working with him.
From EJ Feihl moves at first to a great midrange game and an ever developing low post game that includes dependable hook shots with both hands he displayed in the latter part of the Fil-Oil, I can understand why one thread in Archerpride has become a whiner's paradise.

PERMISSION TO PLAY OUTSIDE THE UAAP
No athlete and/or team of any UAAP Member University may play for any other entity for the duration of the UAAP tournament in which such athlete/team is/are participating except;
Exhibition Games
Barangay Level Tournament
DECS – CHED Organized competitions
National Team Selections
Tournament for ranking purposes provided he/she represents his/her UAAP Member University or him/herself
AFP
NSA organized tournament
Alumni organized tournaments.
Commercial Leagues except PBL
Provided, however, that such tournament is not in conflict with the UAAP schedules. In such case, priority shall always be given to the UAAP. A prior written request for participation in such tournament must be submitted to the Board for its approval.
player only needs a written request if participating in a commercial league.
Im sorry to say this but the way i see it, as long as slaughter dons the blue&white jersey ateneo can go as far as 7 basketball championship, i hope im mistaken.
Due to the no more than 25 years old rule, Slaughter can only play for two more years: this and the next.
This and the next season is pretty much set and what worries Ateneo faithfuls would be the graduation of the Salva (not anymore Buenafe since he won't don the Blue and White this year) recruitment class. If there's anything good to Buenafe's sitting this year out is that he can still lead the Blue Eagles to three more titles after this season.
Team Glory Be, home to Ateneans doing residency, plays in other basketball leagues while the UAAP season is on-going. You can't just stagnate talent, can you?
@strandedstranger:
yes because of this rule:
An athlete who is in the process of establishing residency requirements in the UAAP shall not play for another team in any league; otherwise, an additional one (1) year residency shall be required. Such athlete may play for his/her own university outside the UAAP.
@Mateen Cleaves: interesting point. the rules are vague and there is no mention of exceptions regarding this matter. so the board can very well vote against slaughter playing if they interpret it this way.
if interpreted this way, it will also mean that no player undergoing residency can play for the national team since it is a team in another league... unless they add a year of residency.
so if a filipino player who studied abroad is doing two years residency, he would sit out three years (because of the additional year) if he wishes to play for our national team.
that is IF the rule is interpreted that way.

nu (baculi) to ateneo (palou): quid pro quo.

I think more than the greenies it's the bullies (yeah the bulldogs) who are using the Slaughter as a leverage to make Parks eligible. I say let Parks play now that's minus one year of eligibility with four to go. I don't think his present stint will affect Ateneo's run towards the four-peat crown that much.
Lastly, if FEU asked for a clearance for the likes of Aldrech Ramos then I'm sure Ateneo would have done the same.
si palou nga daw ang nagspearhead ng query regarding parks' eligibility. kaya malamang compromise agreement na lang. quid pro quo.
sure talaga? promise? same peeps ba nagawa ng request for both feu and ateneo? just asking.

^It's just that I trust the institution I'm in than any other institutions out there. I doubt that there was an oversight on this matter.
Question lang. Applicable ba kay Slaughter yung "paghingi ng approval from the board" to play outside UAAP?
The rule states:
Dito tingin ko ay may tulog si Slaughter. Yung SG ay direct violation ng rule na ito because Slaughter can only play for Ateneo while doing residency.-An athlete who is in the process of establishing residency requirements in the UAAP shall not play for another team in any league; otherwise, an additional one (1) year residency shall be required. Such athlete may play for his/her own university outside the UAAP.
Pero dito, hindi ako sure kung applicable kay Slaughter.
Sabi kasi for the duration of UAAP. Yung PBA stint ay UAAP off-season nangyari. Therefore, parang hindi applicable ito.-PERMISSION TO PLAY OUTSIDE THE UAAP

(5) Tournament for ranking purposes provided he/she represents his/her UAAP Member University or him/herself

(8) Alumni organized tournaments.
(9) Commercial Leagues except PBL

I think that "for the duration" part meant that if an athlete is allowed to play for another team in another league during the off-season. What I am most worried about is the part that says "is/are participating".-PERMISSION TO PLAY OUTSIDE THE UAAP
No athlete and/or team of any UAAP Member University may play for any other entity for the duration of the UAAP tournament in which such athlete/team is/are participating except;
Does "is/are participating" inclusive of players doing residency? Ateneo supporters should hope that it is inclusive of players doing residency?
But that doesn't end there. Since Greg Slaughter is a member of SMART-Gilas then he doesn't qualify for the National Selection provision. Now, how do we exactly interpret Smart Gilas' stint as an invited team in the PBA?
