FEU's recruitment system is definitely at par with the other big boys of collegiate ball. You don't get players like Arwind Santos, Denok Miranda, Celino Cruz, Mark Isip, Ryan Rizada, Mark Barocca, Aldrech Ramos, Reil Cervantes, JR Cawaling and Terence Romeo without a solid recruitment system. They probably don't go the conventional route of getting the blue-chippers from Manila, but their eye for talent is uncanny and impeccable. And like them or not, Montinola and Molina have been integral in stockpiling this much talent in Morayta. And for those who seem to insinuate that the loyalty of these athletic heads should be in question, let's not forget how the Arwind Santos-led Tamaraws bludgeoned the Rich Alvarez-led Eagles some seasons ago, robbing Montinola's alma mater of back to back championships. These conspiracy theories are baseless and unfounded.
I do however agree that Capacio's coaching aptitude played a big role in FEU's disappointing campaign last season. Basketball experts may endlessly argue on what Capacio should or should not have done, but here's my take (just a casual fan's simple observation): Glenn Capacio failed because he refused to make Aldrech Ramos his go-to guy. Let me explain.
RR Garcia deserved the MVP award last season, but I believe that had more to do with Capacio's over-reliance on the dynamic guard than Garcia's value to FEU's overall team success. Before the season started, I expected Ramos to dominate the league. While everyone was saying Paul Lee was a cinch to bag the MVP award, I vouched for Aldrech, alluding to the fact that with the exodus of the previous season's top-notch bigs like Al-Hussaini, Baclao, Espiritu and Llagas, there was no one in the UAAP who could match up with Ramos. With his unmatched shot-blocking skills, his rebounding prowess, his feathery touch for a big man.. I believed Ramos was head and shoulders above the competition.
So it came as a mild surprise when FEU's offense started centering around their backcourt, specifically the ultra-talented Garcia. And honestly, I thought it would actually work. FEU started piling wins left and right, and it seemed that all those pre-season predictions were legitimate. But I always wondered, why isn't Ramos getting enough touches? Why do Garcia, Cervantes and even Romeo get the majority of the plays run for them? Can a team win a championship when their BEST player is not their FEATURED player?
All those worries were realized when RR started firing blanks in the playoffs. Capacio could not adjust. He went to the well much too often. He milked the cow dry. And what's worse, he failed to realize that FEU's advantage over Ateneo was in the middle. Do you really think Ateneo's three headed monster (Chua, Golla, Escueta) could match up with the silky smooth Ramos? And even IF Capacio realized this, I'm not sure if someone used to being the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th option could suddenly become the team's top-dog in that kind of atmosphere, when all the chips are on the line, when everything is at stake.
In my opinion, there lies the downfall of the much-maligned Glenn Capacio. I don't subscribe to the age-old theory that a team needs a top-caliber point guard to win in the UAAP. Heck, Ateneo had Jai Reyes and Eman Monfort (with all due respect) in their three-peat campaigns! On the contrary, I think having a dominant big is essential for any collegiate team's championship aspirations. We only need to scan the last decade's champions to see my point's legitimacy: Rico Villanueva, Arwind Santos, Jervy Cruz, Rico Maierhoffer, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, ... all with championships tucked under their belts, all MAIN MEN of those championships teams. I guess that's what made Ateneo's championship extra special. They won the title without a dominant big. They won the title through sheer guts, through unforgiving defense, through great teamwork, through heart. And lastly, Ateneo won because the opponent's coach failed to fully utilize the one guy they had no answer for.

so di pa pinapakilala si gino juamao-as as sure in sa FEU? kasama ba siya kila escoto nung pinakilala? info bout the kid? what position?

If 'basura' ang ilang players sa team, it is better to get rid of them early than suffer the controversies that plagued the Tams the last few years.....
sayang ang Tams...magagaling ang players....favorites to win the championship the last 2 years....but always losing their composure when it mattered most!
God Bless All!!!![]()
Coach Capacio is the weakest link of our team during these past 3 years. Nagmumukang one-dimensional player si Ramos even though meron syang offensive game(Jump shot). Agree ako kay shanebattier. I hope magamit ni Coach Bert ang mga players nya na kung saan dapat mag-excel ang mga ito, just the way he did it in 2005.

Sus.
Chris Soler has confirmed that Jumao-as is joining FEU:

kaya ang lakas ding maghoard ng players ang feu, pano atenista nagpapatakbo ng basketball program niyo. dalawa pa sila![]()
it's not a secret---everybody knows it..and as for me, just like what i've been saying.. i would like to see FEU being run by an FEU alumni..
about the hoarding.. you can just look at it in two ways.. if you're from a school who can't recruit quality players, you'll call it hoarding ..... you'll call it "future-building", the other way around..
Then the question should be why is it not an FEU alumni?
Before saying it should not be from ADMU or DLSU for that matter as stated in your previous post.
maybe because he (anton montinola), feels that nobody aside from him and mark molina can bring success to the school's basketball program.. problem with the system and with the people is they are too stereotype to think that anything or anyone outside of admu and dlsu is something/someone to be looked down to.. and i totally disagree with that
