this thread reminds me of a story.

first date nila boy and girl (kung date man yun kasi magkakilala na talaga sila ng matagal pero after 2 years lang ulit nagkita) in a coffee shop. nung dumating yung bill, bunot si girl ng wallet trying to do her share sa bill pero guy insisted on paying everything. When they became good friends talaga, saka nagkwento si boy of this (i guess silly) standard na if on the first date, di man lang nag effort si girl na magshare ng bill, that would be the last date as well His bestfriend even shares the idea and ni magdala ng sasakyan on the first date di ginagawa. So let's go back to the girl who tried to share the "date bill" with her guy date, nasundan yung mga dates, ngayon 3years na kami ni boyfriend who basically pays for every date we have. Buti nalang pumasa ako dun sa (kinda weird) preliminary exam nya

Pero I have nothing against men na may ganitong standard on their first dates. Pero as a girl, gusto kong may share din ako sa finances, that way may say din ako sa mga bagay bagay, ayoko nung feeling ng nacocontrol.

Depende naman yan sa nagd-date. Para sa kin, sa first date, kung sinong nagyaya, siya magbayad, usually guys naman nagyayaya ng first date. Kung babae nagyaya, di okay lang na siya...

Pero ideally, the guys asks the first date, and he should pay. Turn off ako sa guys na magiinsist na split the bill on the first date! Pakita nyo naman na interesado kayo sa babae kaya niyo nga niyaya mag date no. And then syempre pag may mga next dates, pwede nang split yung bill or pagusapan kung sinong magbabayad.

There are different kinds of dates. If it is a "friendly" date with a chaperon then it is a dutch treat.
but if it is a "getting to know you better" date which is usually initiated by guys, they should put thier best foot forward and shoulder the bill. If the girl offers to split the tab, it is okay to decline or accept the offer, which it normally accept . Personally, i respect a girl who offers splits the bill.

I don't think women who initiate dates are desperate. Oks lang naman yan, kung meron ba naman siyang gustong makilala why not. But women don't initiate dates, not because naghihintay lang sila. There may be some reasons, maybe, it's not their priority, wala lang talaga silang gustong lalaki, or okay lang silang single. Eh mga lalaki, its in their nature to look for females. It's not equal opportunity, kundi by nature, lalaki talaga ang hunters. Pero off topic na 'to.
