My friend xyzseaman, apparently, the video you'd posted was removed by youtube admin due to copyright claim by EA. then again there's been too many Demos of BF3 on youtube recently, and I was amazed of the advancement of EA's DICE technology, the Frosbite 2.. It only shows that it will not take long before we can enjoy more BF3-like graphics in the next year or two..

How do you like Origins compare sa Steam loco?

@Hitman: still checking whether to get a 6970 or 570s; though I'm leaning more on 6970s.

Origin sucks balls. I've never bought anything from there and I never will. I just used the keys from my EA games on Steam and retail copies and registered them on Origin. My Mass Effect 2 is a free copy that came with a friend's Dragon Age II.

I'll buy Battlefield 3 from Datablitz so EA gets less than $30 instead of their asking price of $60.

I see, bago na pala yung name hah? Nung nag download ako ng free Mass Effect 2, ayun ang gamit ko; never liked it as well.

I wanna get my physical disk for BF3 sa Gamestop... too bad wala sa Steam, dun ko na lang sana bilhin hehe

marami nang ea games ang tinatanggal sa steam dahil sa away nila.

I think I read somewhere that one reason they shifted to Origin is bec Steam requires games to exclusively release DLC packs through them. Now, since they are on Origin, DLC packs can be bought at other online stores eg. Amazon. Thats AFAIK.

One gripe I have with BF3 is that they haven't acknowledged that it will have mod tools at release, which means basically no Project Reality mod for now. That really kills the replayability of the game for me. I have a feeling they really want to make a lot of money on multiplayer DLC packs.

Not for a while I think. Though I'm sure they'll release it down the road eventually.

I do hope so, but I am still unoptimistic. And if at this point they have no set plan to release mod tools I doubt they will. Ideally, the ability for FPS to mod is announced early, since engines are built to have that feature, then have it in-game at release or an SDK download later, eg Quake, HL, UT, BF(not BC), CoD2 & 4, OFP1, ArmA. And if their idea of dedicated servers is what they did with BC2 (basically renting with DICE, can't host your own), BF3 could end up more of an evolution of BC2 rather than BF2.

At least its would't be as bad as MW2 did.

What made you say na hindi sila mag-release ng mod pack? It's still too early to say that, specially with the game is still about to hit Alpha status this August.

IMO, they will release the mod packs later; they will milk the hell out of this game for a long time before they would even think of releasing it, given the amount of time and money DICE invested in this engine: they want to recoup that investment for a while.

  16. #76
Well, based on their shift to Origin, their modtool stance for BF:BC2 along with its "dedicated" server, I think you're right, they will be really milking the game with DLCs. Making the game moddable is counterintuitive to making profit with DLC packs, since people can basically make their own. If they ever release modtools, it would probably be their last DLC for BF3. And I won't be surprised if they announce BF4 by then.

I just feel DICE/EA is consolizing BF3 a lot. Modding made BF2 & '42 a PC shooter classic, much like Half life, UT and Quake was.

Excitement is building rapidly with the release of Battlefield 3 on the horizon. EA are also aware that Modern Warfare 3, the eighth instalment in the Call of Duty series, is due for release around a month later. But does this mean that EA DICE will adopt the oh-so-familiar annual game release to keep up with other similar titles? DICE rejects these assumptions as to create much more longevity for the game as a whole experience.
