Many would feel that their entire life is at stake, hence every little problem they encounter in law school causes sever anxiety.

Law school is starkly different from medical school. Not only do law schools kick out a lot of students, your general chances of passing the bar is only at a measly 25%. Having spent quite some time in law school already, I can say that half the battle consists of suppressing and controlling stress and anxiety.

From an economic point of view law school is actually a terrible investment. It requires epic proportions of time and energy and the risks are high. In the event that one successfully gets past law school, pay is measly compared to other careers which requires less academic requisites. The starting salary of a fresh lawyer out of a top-tier law school is usually at par or even less than what entry level accountants and engineers earn.

If you are interested in law school then I highly encourage everyone to try it. However if during the first semester you're not enjoying it or you have a better career in mind, by all means pursue the latter. After staying in law school for a year, it's already difficult to leave even if you already hate it, considering the investments that you have made.

In my case, I find the materials highly interesting but I honestly dislike how law school is being conducted. If I had an alternative career in mind I would have left early on, but I don't so I'm just sticking it out. Hopefully if all goes well, after graduation I am hoping to just find a field of practice I'm comfortable with.
What the hell.

Ano na lang sasabihin mo sa mga kamag anak at kaibigan mo na tinatawag, umaasa sa yo na maging attorney habang nag aaral ka? Pride din nakataya dito.

To add, students who end up going to law school tend to have a humanities or social sciences background. They face lower career prospects at the undergrad level compared to students who've majored in science, math, computer science, and engineering.

What you should be scared of is not getting kicked out, but flunking the bar.

You would rather get kicked out of your top tier law school and pass the bar than graduate from your law school but not pass the bar. Graduating from a good law school is a plus, but when you're entering the gates of UST when you're taking the bar, a law school is simply an institution that gave you a license to take the bar. You're on your own, what you did for the past 1600 days is what will matter.

My point is, don't let retention anxieties destroy your life. Don't let those one off moments pull you down. Just take it by the day and do what you have to do. The important thing is you LEARN something new everyday so you increase your chances of PASSING THE BAR.

Keep your eyes on the prize. The prize is not staying in law school, but passing the bar. It's all that matters.

    admission requirements

good morning guys i'm an aspiring student of ateneo law school and i just want to ask regarding the admission requirements:

1.) does the school requires a stellar GWA?because my GWA is not that good and the grades in my TOR are horrible because some of the subjects took me three repeats, but my grades on my major subjects are quite good , do i have a chance?

2.) assuming that i passed the entrance exam what if i didnt any recommendation letter from an Ateneo graduate do i still have a chance?

    thank you for your replies

I don't know with Ateneo and UST but I'm da*n sure I had no prof in UP Law who teaches that way. All my professors in UP are idealistic freaks, you'll never even hear them speak about how to get rich through lawyering...

Does anyone know ALS' admissions office email address? I've sent messages to law[at]aps.ateneo.edu and through their contact form here, but both seem to be unattended as I've yet to receive a reply. I'm currently in the US, so I've held off on phoning them yet.

Hello. I have been informed that 18u of English is a requirement. I only have 9u so far. I plan to take Speech courses and I was wondering if those can be credited as English units.

Good day. I am an accountancy graduate from UST, and I have just passed the recent CPA board exams. My undergrad GWA is not that good, though I have no failures. Do I have a chance to get in? I really want to enter Ateneo Law School, and I'm in desperate need of review materials, tips, etc. Can anyone help me, please?

Hi! I applied online kasi. Then when I clicked "finished" biglang sinabi na November 16, 2012 na daw yung deadline ng requirements ko. E first batch palang pala yun, hindi pa ata ako ready magtest (November 24, 2012 na yung exam). If I pass my requirements after November, say, January, would they still accept my application? Thank you!

    Hi poopy

I was not able to take the ALS last year though nakapagpasa na ako noon ng requirements at nakapagbayad. You may reseschedule your application but with additional fee. Better if you pass it kaagad. Inaantay pa nila kasi mapuno ang slots for november exam. If I am not mistaken 300 or 500 pesos ata iyon. Just tell the cashier, you want to reschedule your exam. Please let me know the updates kung kelan ang exam dates ng ALS. I'm not yet ready for the november exam kaya di pa ako nag aapply. They said may december exam.

hi! I passed my requirements last nov16 pero hindi nov24 yung exam date ko. ubos na daw slots sa first batch so sa December 8 na yung schedule nung test ko.

Definitely. Just make sure you have good recommendations, preferably from an ALS alumnus, and that you pass the entrance exams.

    entrance exam

I took the ateneo law entrance exam this morning. I thought it was difficult, but God it was too easy. In part 1, I almost perfect all 80 questions. In part 2, much easier because there were only two choices each question. In part 3, the reading comprehension in ateneo is too easy compared to that of others.
__I was shocked when some students used extra paper for their solutions in some questions..it was not necessary.
___I almost finished all parts exam with 20 minutes remaining in my time.
___it was really easy!!! No kidding!!!

I always play iq test..abstract reasoning, numerical reasoning, etc..almost every hour of a day..

Also,...lsat helped a lot.....lsat is 500x more difficult than ateneo law entrance test..

Hehe.. ateneo law school is the best !!!
