Yeah, I still remember that cat from "Kick, Push" which sampled - of all things - our very own Celeste Legaspi's "Bolero Medley"
Lupe Fiasco - The Show Goes On

I still haven't bought the album.
I'm not feeling this record. I'm not one of the kids who grew up in the mid '00s and regard Food & Liquor or The Cool as the GOAT of rap albums, but the new one falls way short of the first two Lupe records.
I have a copy of "The Cool"...a physical one!!!
Downloaded some tracks from "Lasers" (last year pa nga!!!)... methinks it's more or less in the same league as its predecessor. Now that's it's No. 1 in the US, why all the sour-graping over his long-overdue but well-deserved success?
I just hope that the final copy of "Lasers" still has the nifty sample choices that marked LF's first 2 CDs (hey, still can't forget, Celeste freakin' Legaspi in "Kick Push")
Don't get me wrong; Lupe deserves to be successful especially after all the BS Atlantic put him throughout the past three years. Not to mention, there were some huge hooks on his first two albums.
While Lasers is more or less in the same vein as its two predecessors, I really think this record is Lupe's weakest album. Atlantic made sure that the record will cater to the mainstream. Commercial success over artistic freedom. Lupe himself admits this.

The typical Lupe flair is also absent on most songs. Again, you can blame it on Atlantic. On the tracks where the switch is "On", he usually delivers musical gold.

i guess i'm in the minority. i don't know but i like lasers a lil bit overall as an album than the cool. but food & liquor imho is still his best work so far.

Lupe released the video for Words I Never Said on the same day that Osama was caught/killed.
Coincidence or not? Mind = f*cked.
DAMN LUPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm excited!
Love the old-skool break on this mutha....a refreshing alternative to the Euro-clubby cr@p that passes for much of commercial hip hop these days
lupe fiasco's food & liquor II is out next week! it's also out on your favorite sites right now, if you know what i mean
