Episode 1

Scene: A waiting room.

Mona, a little girl who is about 7 years old, is waiting to be called. She looks nervous.

Receptionist: Mona? Is Angel Mona here?

Mona: Yes, ma'am that's me.

Receptionist: He's ready for you, dear.

We see that this waiting room is out of the ordinary. There's a receptionist desk and several benches and tables. But the place is all white and very bright. It looks as if everything - the furniture, magazines, plants, decorations - is illuminated from within with unearthly light. Because it's so bright, you can't tell where are the walls, ceilings and floors meet. The other unusual thing about this waiting room is who are in it. The waiting room is filled with angels of varied color and sizes, but mostly children. Their wings are also varied. Some are small, some are large, some have wings and some don't. All of them wear a white robe. Some robes sparkle with stars. It's as if you are looking up in the heavens on a cloudless night sky except the background is white. Some have many stars, some only a few.

Mona stands up and we see that her robe has no stars. Not a single one. She walks dejectedly in the direction of the offices. She's got only one small wing instead of a pair.


Scene: Head Angel Manny's office.

Just like the waiting room, the office is white and bright. There's a large white office desk and Head Angel Manny is sitting on a white executive chair. He wears a robe that has so many stars, it looks like he's got several whole galaxies contained on his robe. His kind face is looking seriously around his office.

Head Angel Manny: Hello Mona, have a seat.

Mona sits down across him still looking apprehensive. The Head Angel seems distracted.

Head Angel Manny: Mona, I've been thinking of redecorating my office. I think it's time for a little color change..

Head Angel Manny snaps his fingers and the room changed from bright white to slightly more shimmery white.

Head Angel Manny: Hmm, what do you think, Mona? Should I change to this color? Hmm, maybe it's too different..

Mona: Uhhh, aren't they exactly the same? Aren't they both.... white?

Head Angel Manny: Of course they are both white but completely different! , One is cloud white, one is pearl white! Don't you see the little swirly cloud patterns?

Mona: Ohhh ... 'kay...

Head Angel Manny: Never mind that. You can't see the difference. (pause) (serious now) So here we are again Mona. Weren't you just here in my office?

Mona: (head bowed) Yes sir, I was.

The Head Angel looks at the air in front of him and there appears images of an older lady tripping and almost falling down the stairs. Another angel came to her rescue. Manny shakes his head.

Head Angel Manny: You should have been watching her my dear. You shouldn't have left her side. You know how important rules are over here, don't you?

Mona nods.

Head Angel Manny: (sigh) I'm not sure that you do because here we are, having this conversation again

He pauses to get ready to talk about one of his favorite lectures.

Head Angel Manny: Here in the Angel Department, we have a simple sequence of operations.

Head Angel Manny waves his hands and images appear of a diagram consisting of various shapes connected by arrows that start from the top left of the screen to the bottom right. The diagram looks quite complicated but Mona knows that all the actions in the diagram can happen in a blink of an eye.

Head Angel Manny: There are many procedures here in heaven that.. ahem.. I helped design. I am quite proud of this particular one.... Here we see that the Angel Department gets assignments from different procedures but the Soul Retrieval and the Prayer Procedure are by far the most popular. Perhaps we should review the "Prayer Procedure" once again.

Mona nods. She's heard this spiel before.

Head Angel Manny continues enthusiastically, pointing to the different shapes as he talks about them.

Head Angel Manny: We begin when a prayer is heard and entered into the system. It goes through a set of approvals. Since every prayers is unique, we research each one for whatever is appropriate for each case, Then after it is given the final verdict -- approve or reject -- it is assigned for action. The Angel Department is just one of the many departments that can get the assignment to act on that prayer. It's very important that the angels, us, follow our part of the procedure, Mona. Do you know that?

Mona: Yes, Sir.

Head Angel Manny: You also know that we have a Punishment Procedure that applies to men on Earth and also to all of us here in Heaven.

Mona nods.

Head Angel Manny: Man receives many contradictory information, but for us in Heaven the rules are clearer. We have no excuse not to abide by it.

Mona nods again, looking even more sorry.

Head Angel Manny: Then you know what you did and you know what I need to do.

Mona starts to sniffle.

Head Angel Manny: I don't want to do this either, my dear. I'm sorry to have to take your remaining wing.

Mona: (sob) Sir, Sir, can you please give me one more chance? Please! Please do not take away my last wing! (sob) That means I won't be a guardian angel anymore. Please, I promise to do better! (sob)

Head Angel Manny: My dear Mona, I know that you believe what you are saying and that you have every intention of doing what you say. However, this is the third time you have failed in your duty resulting in having to send reinforcements. Each time, you failed because you were not where you were supposed to be and not doing what you were assigned to do.. You were distracted again by...

Mona: (sob) Yes, I know. (sob) I promise not to follow Kuya anymore, I promise I will do my job...I promise I won't be distracted anymore.

Head Angel Manny: Mona, maybe you are not meant to be a guardian angel. You're still on probation when you should already have earned several stars by now. (softening) There are many wonderful jobs besides being an angel that you can do! Ah! I know! We can always use someone in the storage room, have you seen St Peter's file room ? It's a disaster in there!

Mona cries even harder.

All of a sudden, an announcement is heard.

Voice: Ding! A code red prayer alert has been approved for your immediate action. Ding! A code red prayer alert has been approved for your immediate action. Ding! A code...

Head Angel Manny: Just a second...

An image appears again. It is of a terrified woman who's tied up in the back seat of a car. They hear her thoughts. She sounds as scared as she looks.

Woman:: Please God,.....(sob) (sob) Please God, please don't anything bad happen to me.. don't let him kill me, (sob) Oh my God....(sob) Please God, don't let me die. (sob) There's too many people who are depending on me,(sob) who's going to take care of them? (sob) Please God, please change this man's mind....(sob) Please save me .... God.. Jesus.. Mama Mary.. Saint..

Mona:.. . Is that.. Is that .. ? Sir Manny, I knew her! Oh no!. What happened?

They see who is driving the car. Mona gasps.

Mona: Oh no! Kuya Mark! What are you doing? Oh no! Please, please let me have this one! Please let me go down there! Give me this assignment, please!

Head Angel Manny looks at the image, as if reading something.

Head Angel Manny: It says here that this assignment has a high difficulty rating. He has made up his mind to kill her - 95%. The chances of him listening to you are very low (thinking and talking to himself) hmmmm, I'm not really sure who to send... We're so short staffed...

Mona: ME! Send me, please! If there's anyone who can make my Kuya Mark listen, it has to be me. I will not let him kill her!

Head Angel Manny: Perhaps I can give you one last chance. hmmmm...

He looks at Mona's pleading face.

Head Angel Manny: Okay, this is it Mona. This is a big job but I believe you might just be the best choice we have at the moment...

Mona: I can do it! You won't be sorry sir!

Head Angel Manny: Okay, you have the job, dear..

Mona: Thank you! Thank you! I'm going right now!

Head Angel Manny: But remember, all we can do is to guide them. People have the 'free will' and they often do not liste...

Mona had already jumped down and leaving the office before he can finish.



Scene: A narrow twisty provincial road going up a mountain.

A car is driving erratically. In the back seat of the car, the woman is tied up and struggling against the driver. She is dressed in a fancy designer clothing that has a large tear and dirt. It's only been a second since that scene Manny and Mona witnessed.

Mark: (angry) Get back!!! You're gonna make me crash this car!!!

Woman: (screaming against her gag) Mmmmmpppphh!!!!

The woman pushes Mark and the car swerves dangerously. Mark shoves her and she falls hard into the back seat, her legs up in the air. Next to Mark in the front seat is a large picture of the woman. Written on that picture is "Belle Godinez"

She continues to struggle against the ropes binding her hands in the back. The tires screech loudly as Mark tries to control the swerving car.

Mark: Dammit!!! Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!

He almost has the car under control when suddenly, She kicks Mark on the back of his head.

He hits his forehead on the steering wheel and loses consciousness. She jumps out as she manages to open her car door with her bound hands. She rolls on the ground away from the car that is quickly sliding to the edge of the cliff. She quickly gets up and runs away in her high heeled expensive shoes. Hands still tied behind her back. She is panic stricken.

Mark is still unconscious in the drivers seat. The car is heading towards the cliff.

Mona appears on the passenger seat next to the driver.

Mona: (urgently) Kuya! Kuya Mark! Kuya Mark! Wake up!!

Mark is starting to come to.

Mona: Kuya! Turn the wheel to the left !!!!

Mark: Huh...

Mona: Turn to your left! LEFT!!!

Mark quickly turns the steering to the left. The car skids loudly until it's right at the edge. An inch more and it would have fallen down the cliff. Mark is inside the car half-conscious. Both his hands are cradling his head that is hurting bad.

Thru his throbbing head, he squints at the passenger seat and sees a blurry form.

Mark: (small voice) Mona?

Episode 2

Mark is still unconscious in the drivers seat. The car is heading towards the cliff.

Mona appears on the passenger seat next to the driver.

Mona: (urgently) Kuya! Kuya Mark! Kuya Mark! Wake up!!

Mark is starting to come to.

Mona: Kuya! Turn the wheel to the left !!!!

Mark: Huh...

Mona: Turn to your left! LEFT!!!

Begin Flashback:


Scene: An old fashioned two story home in the province.

An 9 year old boy is in the living room by himself playing with a few toy cars on the old wooden floor. He hears some footsteps.

Mark: Mama is here!

He stands up quickly to greet his mother, Elena, but stops when he sees that his mother is not alone. With him is a man and a little girl. .

Elena: Mark come here son, there's someone I want you to meet.

Mark warily walks over to them.

Elena: Mark, I want you to meet Guillermo. He's going to be your new Papa.

Mark: Papa? You mean...

Elena: Yes! We are getting married soon. hahaha! Isn't this great news? We're going to be a family!

Guillermo: Hello Mark. You can call me Papa from now on.

Guillermo holds out his hands and gives Mark a firm handshake. Next to his new Papa, he sees the little girl look at him with challenge in her eyes. He's the only one who sees it. She makes a face and sticks her tongue out at him. Elena lets go of Mark but keeps her arms on his shoulders.

Guillermo: Mark, this is Mona, my daughter. Mona, say Hi to Mark. He's going to be your big brother.

Mona immediately gives Mark an innocent smile, as if she never made a face at him.

Mona: (sweetly) Hi Kuya Mark.

Mark doesn't answer.

Mom: Mark, say hello to Mona.

Mark eyes her suspiciously. Mona's face crumples.

Mona: (dramatic) Papa, he doesn't like me. Waaaaah! I told you he won't like me ! Waaaaaahhh!!!

Elena: Mark! You're only 3 years older than Mona yet you're acting like a baby!

Guillermo: It's okay, Elena. They are just not used to each other yet.

Elena: That is no excuse...

Mona naughtily sticks her tongue out at Mark again, at his surprised look. She smiles widely and smugly just for him to see


Scene: Their house. Months later. They are in the living room of the old house.

Mark is gluing a small piece of wood to a rough wooden doll house

Mona: Now put that chair there.. I'll put this here... There! We're done! Isn't it pretty? Isn't it the best lil' dollhouse ever?

Mark: Yes, whatever, it's the best. Now can we play soccer?

Mona: No! We're not done playing house yet.

Mark: You just said we're done.

Mona: We're done making the house. But we haven't played with it yet.

Mark: What?! I'm not gonna play with your dolls with you ...

Mona: You promised we will play whatever I want first, then we'll play whatever you want.

Mark: (sigh) All right. Fine! Let's get this over with while there's still sunlight ...

Mona hands Mark a Ken doll. She's holding a Barbie doll.

Mona: Yey! Okay, this is you. You're the Dad. This is me. I'm the mom. Pretend you are coming home from work. Just like Mom and Dad.

Mark: (sigh) What do I do ?

Mona: (bigger sigh) Don't you know anything? Say "honey I'm home" and go through the front door.

Mark: Okay, okay... honey … I'm home.... (bit uncomfortable)

Mona: (holding her Barbie and shaking it slightly as if it is talking) Oh, Hi honey, welcome home (full on acting) !Did you have a good day at work? (whispering and widening her eyes at Mark) Hold it up.

Mark: (holding up the doll) Uh yes?

Mona takes her doll and gently taps it against Mark's doll to kiss it, surprising Mark.

Mona: Mwah!!! Glad you had a good day hon, I made you a delicious dinner.

Mona bounces the doll as if its walking.

Mona: Kids, your Dad is home! Dinner will be ready in 15 minutes. Everybody wash up! Mark Junior, get your Dad's slippers! Oh honey, You won't believe what Clementine did today.!

Mark: Huh? Who's Clementine?

Mona: Ugh, Clementine, our daughter silly.

Mark: What are you talking about?

Mona: Oh honey, you must have had such a tiring day.. You don't remember our kids names? There's Mark Jr, Clementine, Justin, Selena, Taylor, ....

Mark: Wait, how many kids do we have?

Mona: We have ten kids!

Mark: TEN !? What?!

Mona: You're the one that wanted a big family. I just wanted 2 kids! By the way, did you talk to your boss about getting a raise? I need some money to buy them some new shoes. We also need new sofa...

Mark: Wait, wait, wait. You're giving me a headache.

Mona: Ugh, I'm giving you a headache? How dare you?! I should be the one having a headache. Don't you know I could have been a fashion model ! I could have gone to Paris! But you didn't want me to work, you wanted me to stay home. I gave up my career for you! (big sigh) All I do is cook and clean all day and take care of your kids! (big sigh) I'm soooo tired. You should give me a foot massage ! That's the least you could do! Hmmph!

Mona is having the Barbie bounce around in a dramatic way. Mark rolls his eyes at her but smiles. and plays along


Scene: A beach resort. It's a beautiful day. Perfect for a family outing.

Elena: Mark! Mona! Come on back! It's time for lunch!

Mark and Mona are running around the beach. Their parents, Guillermo and Elena are watching them from a blanket with an umbrella not too far from the water. Food is laid out on the blanket.

Guillermo: I think you better go and get them. Maybe they can't hear me.

Elena: Hmm, they can't hear you or they choose not to. hahaha, you know those two, when they are playing, they don't want to stop.

Guillermo: That's true. They are thick as thieves. I'm so glad they get along very well.

Elena: Me too hon. I was worried about Mark because I know he's shy and very serious. I'm glad Mona is able to bring out his playful side. It's good to see him act like a kid.

Mark and Mona are running their way.

Mona: Mom! Dad! Kuya is so gross!

Mark: What 'gross'? I'm just telling the truth! I read that's what you're supposed to do with a jellyfish sting.

Mona: Ewwww!

Mark: I'm just sayin...

Elena: Okay kids, enough! Sit down so we can have our lunch. Guillermo, please say our graces.

Mark and Mona make faces to each other but take a seat..


Later, the kids are walking around the resort. Mona is following Mark.

Mona: Where are we going again?

Mark: We're going to see if my friend is here, The one I met last summer.

They continue to walk..

Mark: Oh there she is! Carla! Carla! Hey!

They are in front of the biggest resort unit that is about 5 times bigger than the one they are staying at. Mark is waving at a prim little girl who is sitting in the chair in the large balcony in front.

Carla, who's the same age as Mark, smiles big and waves back weakly but enthusiastically. Mark runs over to the balcony with Mona following. Eyeing them suspiciously.


Later, the three kids are inside the large resort home, playing with Legos.

Carla: hahahaha, see now it's lion and a tiger. A liger.

Mark: That's cool! Look at this, it's a sharktopus!!

Carla and Mark laugh.

Mona is making something that doesn't look like anything she's frustrated.

Mona: (dropping the Legos) This is boring! Let's go to the beach!

Mark and Carla don't answer.

Mona: C'mon! Why can't we go to the beach? Isn't that why we are here? Why are we inside all day!?

Mark: We told you, Carla is not allowed to go outside because she gets sick very easily!

Carla: Sorry Mona. I have a weak heart. I am not allowed to get tired. I have very poor immune system.

Mona: (ignoring Carla) Kuyaaaa, let's goooo!! (exasperated)

Mark: No. I want to play with these Legos. We don't have any at home.

Mona: I'm bored to death in here! I want to go to the beach!!!

Mark: Then go ! No one is stopping you.

Mona stands up but sees Mark isn't paying attention. She stomps her feet but sits down.

Carla: (cheerfully) Mona, would you like to watch a movie? We got lots of DVDs ?

Mona: (sigh) Fine! Okay.


Later, Mona and Mark are walking back.

Mona: We spent all day inside. Let's go to the beach tomorrow so we can make it up..

Mark: Um, let's see what Carla wants to do okay?

Mona: Why? She's such a drag.! She can't do anything.

Mark: She's not a drag. She just can't play outside much. Besides, I haven't seen her in a long time.

Mona: Hmph, and when you're with your friend, you ignore me.

Mark: I do not.

Mona: Yes you do.

Mark Do not

Mona: YES YOU DO ! You know what, You go play with "Prissy Chrissy" (mocking tone) all day! I'm going shopping with Mom and Dad tomorrow! I'll ask Dad to buy me something awesome and not you!

Mona runs back to their unit.


Scene: Carla's living room. Following day, late afternoon.

Mona is at the doorway, the maid is letting her in. Mona is carrying a big box of Legos.

Maid: Come in, they are in the balcony where you were yesterday.

Mona: Thank you. I remember where it is. Hmph, wait till you see what Dad and Mom bought me!

Mona walks to the balcony and but stops as she hears what Mark and Carla. They are playing with Barbie toys in front of a big beautiful doll house.

Mark: But I had such a hard day at work. Can't you get me my slippers and get my dinner first?

Carla: How am I going to make your dinner? I told you the oven is broken. I had to go to work too you know..

Mark: I told you to stay home and not work anymore.

Carla: What about my career?

Mark: What about our kids? What about Mark Junior?

Mona heard enough and runs away, almost running into the maid who was carrying a tray of snacks.

End Flashback


Scene: Back to the present. Mark is regaining consciousness in the car.

Episode 3

Scene: Back to the present. Mark is regaining consciousness in the car.

Mark: (small voice) Mona?

Mark is closes his eyes and holds his throbbing head. He doesn't see anybody in the passenger seat next to him.

Mark: Nooo! I'm hallucinating! Dammit! Get it together! You can't screw up again!

Mark gets out of the car and almost falls down the cliff. He is completely surprised at the position of the car. He pushes the car manually for a couple of feet and then gets in. He drives away.

Mark has a determined look on his face. Mona is next to him in the car but he can't see or hear her. She looks very worried.

Mark: (thinking) Where did she go? I have to find her first. I need to do what I came here to do..

Mona: Kuya Mark, please stop. Please change your mind. Think about what you are doing..

Mark is driving fast and recklessly. He passes several cars and swerves around them.

Mark: (thinking) Dont... Don't freak out... Keep cool... Don't second guess yourself. ..you can do this..

Mona: No you can't Kuya Mark, You can't kill anyone.. That's not you...(crying)

Mark: Dammit! Stop doubting yourself! Just shoot her. Click! It's easy! …. She's dead anyway. If you don't, someone else will. You might as well take the reward..... Just do it, it's easy.. it's easy.. Just pull the trigger.. it's nothing..You've seen it done many times...

Mona: No Kuya, Don't kill her... Don't be a killer. You can't do it...

Mark's face is starting to show hesitation.

The car almost hits another car and Mark turns it sharply,

Mark: Gaaaaahhh!!! Stop second guessing yourself ! Stop... Just stop thinking! Don't think! Just do it!

Mona: Nooooo, Kuya Mark. Noooo.. (crying) Huh? There she is!!

Mark sees Carla running on the side of the road. She looks absolutely terrified. Her hands are still tied up. Her high fashion dress is even more dirty and torn. Looks like her one of her shoes broke.

She's looking behind her and Mark can see that there's a bunch of goons running after her several yards away. One of them is trying to shoot her. Mark stops the car very close to where Carla is, almost hitting her with the car. He jumps out of the car and shoves her inside. He dives back inside the car and drives away quickly. The guys chasing Carla sees this and shoots at them and misses. They run back the other direction to get to their car.

Carlal: Oh no! Not you again!! .. No!!!

Carla and Mark struggle.

Carla: Eeeeeeeeee!!!! Let … me … go!!!!

In the back seat of the car, they continue to struggle until she hits her head passes out. Mona gently holds the unconscious Carla.

When Mark felt it was safe, he pulls over where no one can see them from the road. He quickly ties Carla up and puts a gag on her mouth. He gets back in the car and continues to drive for a while. Mark looks at Carla in the back seat several times during the drive. She is peacefully sleeping. Mona is still sitting with Carla, stroking her brow..

Later, the car stops at a remote area. It's the resort where they used to stay as kids but it is now abandoned and most units look destroyed and dilapidated.

Mark carries Carla inside one of the few remaining resort units that is still standing. Mona follows them. The room is tidied up. There is food and water as well as some of Mark's things. Mark lays Carla down on a sofa, none too gently .

Mona: Careful Kuya . She isn't a sack of rice.

Mark looks intently at the sleeping Carla. He has his gun in his hand.

Mark: (softly) Why do you look so familiar?

Mona: Kuya, this is Carla, your childhood friend. If you would just open your eyes and your mind, you will see this.

Carla moves a bit, struggling against her ropes. She wakes up and realizes her situation. She stares at Mark, fear in her eyes. He removes her gag.

Carla: If you don't let me go, I'll scream this place down!

Mark: You can scream all you want .. No one can hear you...

Carla: (not believing him) Help! Help! HEEEELLLLPPPP!!

She screams for a while but nothing happens.

Carla's face fell.

Mark: I told you no one can hear you.

Mona: You're wrong, Kuya. There's Someone who hears everything.

Mark approaches Carla. She's even more terrified when she sees him holding a gun.

Carla: (looking around) Okay, okay, Tito Bernie I won't testify! I will recant! Tito Bernie!

Mark: The boss isn't here.

Carla: (looking around) Oh... c-can I talk to Tito Bernie then ?. Can you call him?

Mark: He doesn't want to talk to you..

Mark: (thinking) So familiar.. where do I know you? Ugh!! Stop it! Better if I don't know you.

Mona: Kuya, it's your friend Carla! You used to play with her right here in this resort. Open your eyes! Please!

Carla: How do you know that? Hello! I'm talking to you!

Mark: What? How do I know what?

Carla: (sigh) How do you know Tito Bernie doesn't want to talk to me? Of course he does! That's why he had me taken, right? You better call him or YOU will be the one in trouble!

Mark ignores her. Carla stares at Mark trying to figure out he's thinking. His face is blank. Carla struggles a bit against her bounds.

Carla: Look, if you call my Mom and Dad, we'll pay whatever you want!

Mark shakes his head blankly.

Mona: Kuya, listen to her! She's giving you a way out of this situation!

Carla: Please, .. I have done nothing wrong, Don't you know that Tito Bernie is the bad guy here. I'm just doing what's right. He's the criminal. I'm the good person here.... and....my family.. my Mom and D-Dad must be worried sick about me now. Please, please can you find it in your heart to let me go?

Still no reaction

Carla: Listen... We won't even have to tell the police about any of this.... I know! I'll tell everyone that you saved me. That.. that you're the hero!

After a long while.

Carla: Aren't you listening? I'll tell them you're the hero who saved me!

Finally a reaction, Mark points the gun at Carla, shaking his head and bitterly laughing..

Mark: Me? A hero. hahaha. No one would believe you... It's too late for that.


Begin Flashback

Mr Bernie Beltran is a distinguished looking older man. He's Mark's boss. He is screaming at the top of his lungs and throwing anything he can pick up at anybody. Vinny is one of the men around him who are dodging the things Mr Beltran was throwing.

Mr Beltran: Dammit! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Who does she think she is! I want that woman dead, do you hear me? DEAD !!!

Atty Nathan: Sir.. Boss...Let me caution you … If anything happens to her, you would be the first suspect...

Nathan is Mr Beltran's lawyer.

Mr Beltran: I don't care! If she testifies we are over! ! You hear me! You said yourself that if she doesn't testify there is no case! We will find a way to get rid of her without incriminating us! They can suspect us all they want as long as there is no evidence!


At the back of the room, Mark just arrived. Vinny makes his way quickly to Mark. They talk in low voices.

Mark: (soft voice) What's going on here?

Vinny: (whispering) Mark! You've been gone for weeks! Where have you been! Dude, the **** has hit the fan!

Mark: I just came back from Boss' errand.

Vinny: Another one of your mysterious errands for the Boss huh.. (sounding jealous)

Boss is still raging at the other end of the room

Mark: Yeah, what the hell happened?

Vinny: Boss got indicted and arrested . He just got out on bail today. As you can see he's all sunshine and rainbows. (ducking suddenly as a large paperweight gets thrown in their direction) Whoah!

One of his attorneys, Atty Nathan is nervously trying to reason with Mr Beltran.

Nathan: Boss please, let's not be hasty.. we might be able to plea bargain for a lighter sentence..

Mr Beltran: NO! There is no plea bargain! I've had enough humiliation!

Nathan: M--Maybe we can convince the star witness.. Your families are close after all, maybe if we talk to them again.. explain that....

Mr Beltran: NO! The time for talking is over! She will pay for this betrayal!

Nathan: We can't just make her disappear!

Mr Beltran: Of course we can! I'm not paying you to tell me what I can't do! I can do anything! All it takes is money!

Nathan: But boss, she's not just anybody off the streets. Her family is well known and has some clout.

Mr Beltran: I don't give a sh1t! They have clout but I have way more! Don't you get it, you idiots! We are all in! If she testifies, everything goes to sh!t ! Our syndicate, my empire! My good name is destroyed! from our ancestors to future generations! And you? What do you think happens to you and all you monkeys in this room? We all go to jail! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!! I trusted her and this is what she does? No one does this to me and gets away with it!!

Nathan: Boss.. I strongly caution...

Mr Beltran: Shut up you useless mouthpiece ! IT'S TOO LATE!!!!

Mark: (shaking his head ) It's too late.


Episode 4

Mark: (shaking his head ) It's too late.

Mark is in front of Carla pointing the gun at her, clenching and unclenching his hands.

Carla closes her eyes, waiting to be shot. She can't move from being tied up.

Carla: (praying) Oh my God, Oh my God... help, please...

Mona: (screaming) KUYA! STOP!! ... Kuya...don't... !!

Suddenly, his cell phone rings. He sees who calls and without taking his eyes off Carla's face, takes a deep breath and answers the phone. .

Mark: Boss, (relieved)… yes, I have her.

After a short pause, Mark takes a picture of Carla and sends on his phone. He walks away, still talking to Mr Beltran..

Mark: .. okay boss... sure, no problem....

Carla is trying to listen but can't hear the rest of what Mark is saying. The sound of the ocean waves are getting louder and louder.

Later, Mark comes back to the room.

Carla looks at his poker face and the gun in his hand.

Carla: W-w-what are you going to do? Are you going to kill me?

Mark: ...yes...

Carla's face is horrified.

Mona: NO!! , Kuya Mark. No!!! (crying) What happened to you Kuya? How did you turn into a bad person?


Begin Flashback:

Scene: Christmas Eve at the house. Mark is now 10 and Mona is 7. Mark's bedroom. Almost midnight.

Mona comes inside Mark's room and shakes him awake. Mark isn't really asleep, just pretending to be.

Mona: (whispering) Kuya.. Kuya Mark, wake up.. ..

Mark: Go back to sleep Mona.

Mona: (whispering) Kuya..

Mark: What? What are you doing up, you're supposed to be sleeping!

Mona: Shhhhh... Kuya, not so loud. I hear something...

Mark: That's probably just Mama.

Mona: No, Mama is not home yet. I checked.

Mark: She's not home yet? What time is it?

Mona: (excited) Kuya, I hear something, I think it's Santa Claus!!

Mark: What Santa Claus? I told you already, there's no Santa Claus! It's all made up!

Mona: Of course there is. I asked Mama the other day and she said there was no Santa for hard headed boys like you but there's still Santa Claus for good girls like me. hihihihi

Mark: She was probably drunk as usual. She probably didn't even know she was talking to you.

Mona: Kuya....

Mark: You know I'm right. Ever since Dad died, all she does is drink . She doesn't care about us anymore.

Mona: Kuya, of course Mama cares about us. She's just sad because Papa is gone.

Mark: She's not the only one who is sad that Papa is gone. We're all sad!

Mona: I miss Papa a lot too. But don't forget he's in heaven now. He's probably getting ready for Papa Jesus' birthday party tomorrow. We're gonna celebrate too! It's going to be a great! Papa is not with us anymore but we can still celebrate.

Mark: Sure, he's in your stupid imaginary heaven with your stupid imaginary Santa Claus.

Mona: Kuya!! What are you talking about? Heaven is not stupid and it is not imaginary!

Mark: Mona, you're just a little kid, there's lot of things you don't know.

Mona: I may be a kid but I know Heaven is real, Jesus is real, Santa Claus is real! I also know they are not in heaven together because Santa lives in the North Pole. He's going to leave me a present because I have been a very good girl all year. Mama says so. Mama says she's 100% sure

Mark: Whatever, Mona. Just go to sleep okay?

Mona: But I heard a sound Kuya! Don't you want to see Santa? Maybe we can get one of the bells from his sleigh!

Mark: I feel bad for you when you find out the truth..

Mona: What Kuya?

Mark: I said you should sleep now because Santa may not give you a present if he sees you up and about.

Mona: You're right! Okay, I'll go to sleep now. Tomorrow I'm baking Christmas cookies early in the morning with Mama. She promised we would.

Mona jumps down from the bed and runs to the door, where she pauses to look back at Mark.

Mona: I can't wait to see what present Santa left for me. I wish it was already tomorrow!!

Mark shakes his head in exasperation.

Later, Mark still can't sleep. He looks at the clock, it is past midnight. He gets out of bed and walks to Mona's room. He sees that she is fast asleep. He walks to his mother's room and sees that it is empty. The whole house is quiet and empty except for him and Mona. He walks to their living room to the Christmas tree in the corner. He looks through the presents and has a look of disgust. He walks back to his room angrily.

Inside Mark's room, he gets a wrapped present from his closet. He takes the tag that says "To Mona, From Kuya Mark" and replaces it with a tag that says "To Mona, From Santa Claus". He angrily walks back to the living room and throws the present under the tree. He mutters angrily as it knocks some decorations down.

As Mark fixes the Christmas tree, he looks out the window and sees a car parked outside their house. He sees some people inside the car. He frowns.

Mark goes outside the house to the parked car. The car looks shiny and new. He sees two people inside the car straightening their clothes. Then a young man gets out of the drivers seat and walk a bit unsteadily to the other side and open the passenger door. Mark's mom Elena gets out of the car. She is obviously drunk. She almost falls as the man catches her.

Elena: Oh, oh, hihihihihi, th-thaaaanxxxs Brettttt.....

Mark: (angry) Mama.. Mama, who is this guy!

Elena and the man finally notices Mark scowling at them.

Brett: Oh, hey there little man... You must be...

Elena: Markkk, mmmyy ssshonnn... Markkk, shay hhaay tu yuur Unkh-cllle Brettttt...

Elena is still being supported by Brett. Mark is staring at them, his scowl getting darker. He doesn't answer. Elena looks at Mark's face and starts laughing hysterically as Brett helps up the house.

Elena: hahahahahaha Whyyy the long fffeyyyzzzzz hmmmmm? hahahaha Youuu need to lighten uppppp!

Brett helps her inside her bedroom as Mark follows several feet behind them.

Brett: Bye babe. I'll call you soon. Thanks again! I still can't believe you bought me that brand new car. I can't wait to see my friends' faces when they see this. hahahaha You're the best!

Elena is in bed, looking at him as if she almost doesn't recognize him.

Elena: Huh? Oh sure...

Brett leaves without giving Mark a second glance. Mark goes to his mom as soon as Brett leaves.

Mark: Mama! Did I hear right? Did you buy that as$hat a car?

Elena: Huhh? M-maaybee I did. Shooo whaaat?

Elena seems to be falling asleep. Mark is so furious at his mom. He goes to the bathroom sink and gets cup of water and runs back to his mom on the bed. He throws the cup of water on her face.

Elena: Heyyy!! Hey!! How dare you!!! How dare you!!

Mark: How dare I ? You bought some as$wipe a new car when we can barely pay the bills in this house?!! Are you out of your mind?

The splash of water sobered her up a bit. Elena gets up unsteadily and without warning, slaps Mark on the face. PAK !

Elena: You watch your mouth! You are only my son! I am still your mother! How I spend money is none of your business!

Mark has no reaction from being slapped. He just stares at her.

Elena: (crying) I'm so sorry Mark. Look what you made me do! (crying) I'm sorry. Stop looking at me like that! (sob) If only Guillermo was here..(sob) Why did he have to die?

Mark held his mom tightly as she cried and cried and cried.

Mark: Mama.. it's gonna be okay.. We're gonna be okay..

Elena: (sob) No, we won't! Don't you see? . (sob) We had the perfect family, didn't we Mark? (sob) Everything was perfect. Things can change in an instant..

He laid her in bed as she continues to sob.

Elena: (sob) Guillermo..Guillermo... I miss you so much... (sob) why did you leave us?

Mark stayed with his mom until she fell asleep. Then he went to his own room to cry himself to sleep.


Scene: Early Christmas morning. Mark's room. He's sleeping. Mona is standing next to the bed.

Mona: (excited) Kuya! Kuya! Wake up!

Mona shakes Mark until he wakes up.

Mark: Go back to sleep Mona.

Mona: Kuya...

Mark: Uhhh... What time is it? Why are you waking me up?

Mona: Kuya! It's December 25! It's Christmas ! Come on!!! Get up!!!

Mona is trying to pull Mark from the bed who doesn't want to move.

Mona: Kuya! how can you sleep at a time like this! It's Christmas day!!

Mona is jumping up and down in excitement.

Mona: Kuya, guess what! There's a present for me from Santa Claus under the tree!! I told you! I told you!

Mark: Great, you got a present from Santa! Now, leave me alone! I need to go back to sleep

Mona: Kuuuyyyaaa... C'mon.. I'm going to Mama's room to wake her up!

Mark: Mona, don't wake her up...

Mona ignores him and runs to Elena's room. After a few minutes later she comes back.

Mona: (sadly) She said she has a headache and need to sleep some more.(happy) But we're up so let's make the Christmas cookies and surprise Mama.

Mark: I ain't baking no cookies!

Mona: Fine! If you don't want to then, I'll do it myself then.

Mark: Go! Get out of here! Bake a million cookies! Burn the house down, I don't care!

Mona stomps away.

Mona: What's wrong with people in this house... It's Christmas day. It's Papa Jesus' birthday! It's supposed to be the happiest day of the year.


Later: Mark is awake but does not feel like getting up. He sees that Mona is back upstairs in his room. He sits up on the bed.

Mona: Yey!! You're up. Shall we wake Mama up? I can't wait to open presents!

Mark: If she's still sleeping, let her sleep..

Mona: Oh okay... (big smile) Are you less grumpy now that you got more sleep?

Mark: (shaking his head) I don't know how you can still be so happy.

Mona: It's Christmas today! What's there not to be happy about?

Mark: There you go again! Are you blind? Don't you see what's going on? Papa's gone, Mama is drunk and depressed. She bought … (remembering the new car his mom bought someone made him angry again) Gaaah! How can you be so cheerful!

Mona: Of course, I'm sad about Papa gone but you're here, Kuya.... Don't you remember when he died, Mama, you and me, we were all around him in the hospital... he said you are the man of the house when he's gone? …And I promised our Papa I will take care of you, so you have nothing to worry about.

Mona gives Mark a big smile. He looks at her big brown eyes and smiles too, shaking his head.

Mark: You? Take care of me.?You're crazy!

Mona: What's so funny about that, huh? Just because I'm smaller than you doesn't mean I can't take care of you!

Mark pats Mona's head.

Mark: Must be nice to be so young and innocent. Don't be in such a hurry to grow up, Mona.

Mona: Kuya, you talk like you're 200 yr old grandpa, you smell like it too, phew!!

Mark starts laughing at the faces Mona is making.

Mona: (smiling big) See, I know you have the Christmas spirit in you! hihihi

Mark: Not sure if I have Christmas spirit... But Papa is right. If Mama can't take care of us, then I will take care of the both of you.

Mona: You mean, I'll take care of you.

Mark: haha, Okay, we will take care of each other.

Mona nods vigorously.

Mark makes a face.

Mona: Oh, now what?

Mark: Don't you smell that?

Mona: What?

Mark: Smoke.. I smell smoke...

Mark jumps out of bed and runs to the bedroom door. Smoke is coming from the cracks around the door. He opens the door anyway. Blazing flames and thick smoke can be seen from the hall way. They walk out of the room and see that the fires look like they are coming from downstairs kitchen

Mona: (cough) Oh NO! My cookies! (cough)

Mark: (cough) What!?

Mona: (cough) (cough) I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I was baking cookies but I forgot! … Oh my God... Mama... (cough)

Mark: Mama....

Mark looks at the large fire then at the terrified Mona..

Mona: (crying hard and coughing) I'm sorry.. I'm sorry, kuya !

He grabs her arm and they run back to his bedroom and lifts her to the large open window.


Mark: Go! (cough) You have to jump down into the bushes!

Mona is clinging to the side of the window. They take a deep breath of fresh air from outside.

Mona: (crying hard) I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to do this.... Kuya... (sobs)

Mark: (shaking his head) It's my fault.. I should have been watching you...

Mona: (crying) What about Mama ?

Mark: I'll go get her. You jump down!

Mona: No!! I'm not jumping down without you!

Mark is trying to push Mona out the window but she kicks and squirms out of his arms.

Mark: Ouch! .. Don't... be hard headed! Go!!

Mona: No! No!

Mark: Fine! You wait right here! I'll get Mama.. But if the fires get close, you have to jump down!

Mona nods.

Mark runs out the hallway as Mona tearfully waits, scared to death, clinging to the open window.

Several minutes later, Mark comes back with their mom but she is unconscious. He is dragging her dead weight and having a difficult time.

Mona helps Mark drag Elena closer . Mark is almost passed out and finally succumbs. Mona looks at Mark and Elena now both unconscious next to the window.

Mona: (crying hard) Kuya!! (cough) Mama...(cough) (cough) Wake up!!

The fire is closing in and the room is almost filled with smoke. Mona keeps shaking Mark and he comes to a little.

Mark: (weakly standing up to grab her) Mo..na... ju..jummpp...

Mona: (crying hard) Not (cough) going (cough) without (cough )you...

Mona pulls Mark to the window and with great effort pulls and pushes him up to the window, coughing hard. She can barely see from the smoke stinging her eyes and is now very weak from inhaling it.

Mona: (thinking) Papa Jesus.... please help me.. please save Kuya..

With one last burst of strength, she pushes the unconscious Mark out the two story window. Mona passes out from the smoke.

Isa sa pinaka gustong gusto ko kay Mark Anthony is that eversince never siya sumasawsaw sa issues or nanggamit ng tao and situation para mapag usapan. A week from now, magsisimula na ang MKM sa telebabad ng GMA 7. Imagine? ang sarap kaya niya hingan ng interviews, at this moment na kung saan umuusok ang issues tungkol kay Claudine (they'll supposed to be doing a movie together diba?) at ang pagtakbo sa Senado ng kanyang inang si Alma Moreno. Big issues that i'm pretty sure maraming curious kung ano ang masasabi niya dito. Pero pinili talaga ni Mark deadma lang. As usual no interviews, no-show sa promos but as always his acting stands out the most sa teasers pa lang ng soap nila.
