If it is, then it has a higher weight in terms of Match Importance, otherwise all matches will just be "friendlies".
As the Challenge cup is essentially a backdoor qualification route for the "emerging countries" as defined by the AFC, they should be considered as "qualifying matches" for the Asian Cup and therefore have higher weight in terms of match importance.

If it is, then it is imperative for the Azkals to always go for the W in every match. Imgaine a 3.0 in Match Result and 2.5 in Match Importance. We could really go up to the 120s and 130s in world ranking position...

I looked at the previous Challenge Cup and it looks like it's considered a "friendly".

  4. #24
Thats because the countrys competing in that tournament are considered minnows. There would be total chaos if that happens.

Playing many of them is not bad as long as you Win because a W has a weight of 3.0 in terms of Match Result..

So that is better than a Draw in a World Cup or Continental qualifiers because a D has 1.0 weight in terms of Match Result even if the qualifiers have 2.5 weight.
it wouldn't hurt if we start having friendlies with the small pacific islands then work our way up just to get the points, right?

if team usa did it before to inflate their rankings, why can't we? besides, it's legal. and we could guise it for 'international exposure' purposes.

The Azkals have earned 5 points over the last month and have swapped placed with Fiji into 151. They are also rise one spot to become the 6th best team in the AFF. Myanmar on the other hand have dropped 27 points and 12 places. They have fallen from the fifth best team in the AFF to 8th best.

bigla akong kinabahan doon. hindi ako sanay na hindi tayo underdog.

huwag sanang maging complacent ang azkals going to the group stages.

Assuming the Azkals make it past the group stage, I'd be more worried if they face North Korea in the knockout round as they are currently ranked #115 vs. our 151 That said, I still don't see why NK has to go through the Challenge cup (again) as they've already been to the world cup and can hardly be considered an "emerging" football country

kelangan nga ba 'mappromote' PRK to the next level?

  15. #35
ang tagal naman ng second leg.

@clockwork - kelangan natin atleast completo ang azkal lineup na umabot sa semis last suzuki para talaga makaprogress tayo.. + the new azkals on the bench. malakas talaga line up natin.

  16. #36

    GK Etheridge

DF Borromeo, Del Rosario, Schroek, Cagara

MF J Younghusband, De Jong, Lucena

    ST P Younghusband, Guirado, Caligdong

Bench - Ray Jonsson, Rob Gier, Roland Mueller, Araneta

Retirement Home - Bermejo, Gener, Jaugan, Barsales

Wow imagine that! we have quality coming off the bench for us. We need to find another striker though and a seat belt for Araneta to ensure that he doesnt have to get off the bench and waste away chances on the pitch as a crummy substitute.

Caligdong will need to be replaced as soon as we find a more suitable replacement. lumalaki ulo since that chamba goal in bacolod. he thinks of himself as some sort of messiah for the crummy locals.

We will see how things will go. HOpefully all those Euro 2012 won't affect our chances of getting into page 3.

The Philippines has dropped four spots to 155 in the latest FIFA/Coca-COla rankings. Included in the calculations are the 4 games we played in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifers.
