1. DOST scholars-to-be need to pass a test to get accepted as full-fledged scholars. The qualifying test is administered around November of your senior high school year, and the results are released around March, before you graduate in HS. UPCAT, on the other hand, is administered in August and the results are released every January.
In case the kid passed UP, but got into a course that is not under the courses listed under DOST as a priority science course (priority courses include Bio, Chem, Math, CS, Physics, MBB, Engg courses except CE; food tech, stat, biochemistry, among others), he/she should write the Office of the University Registrar about his/her situation so they can assist him/her to change into a course listed under the DOST priority science courses.
Basically, this allows him/her to change her course even before enrollment. However, this is still dependent on the availability of slots.
The other special cases include scholarships that also force a student to study under certain degree programs in the fields of economics/social science, public administration and agriculture. Maraming mga ganyang scholarships...
2. Sorry dear but the rules are clear. No change of course before enrolment.. no amount of community work/appeal will work here. Unless of course, you are a scholar forced to study under another course. The only option is get your BS OT slot and transfer after a year.
3. Medyo mahuhuli ka kasi yung mga majors(if meron ka kahit freshie ka pa lang) ay hindi make-credit, depende sa lilipatan mong course. Siguro madedelay ka, pero pwede namang habulin by using summer terms.
Di ko alam kung may discrimination against transferees in general. Personally, ok lang naman sa akin yung transferees.
I feel your freshie jitters! Siguro nga hindi mo pinag-isipan yung UPCAT form mo nang mabuti kaya you're somewhat craving for answers to ease your troubles. Wag kang mag-alala. Transferring is a long and tedious process, not to mention pressuring.. pero since pumasa ka sa UPM alam kong kakayanin mo yan.. basta aral ka lang mabuti ok?![]()

I also passed in la salle and hopefully, in ateneo, but I really want to o to Up. The problem is, i have no idea about the course i chose; what does an Ot do, the job opportunity, and i've never even met one before.
