    Ask ko lang po kung
2.) Would it help me po kaya if i approach the OUR early before enrollment? Kahit po letter, community work, or anything?
3.) Kapag nag-shift po ba ako sa UP diliman sa second year, icoconsider po ba nila ako like another transferee or as a UP student?

Thank you po ulit in advance! Sorry po kung marami akong tanong, pero I'm about to make one of the biggest decisions in my life and O would appreciate all the help and advice i could get. I also passed in la salle and hopefully, in ateneo, but I really want to o to Up. The problem is, i have no idea about the course i chose; what does an Ot do, the job opportunity, and i've never even met one before.
    1. DOST scholars-to-be need to pass a test to get accepted as full-fledged scholars. The qualifying test is administered around November of your senior high school year, and the results are released around March, before you graduate in HS. UPCAT, on the other hand, is administered in August and the results are released every January.

In case the kid passed UP, but got into a course that is not under the courses listed under DOST as a priority science course (priority courses include Bio, Chem, Math, CS, Physics, MBB, Engg courses except CE; food tech, stat, biochemistry, among others), he/she should write the Office of the University Registrar about his/her situation so they can assist him/her to change into a course listed under the DOST priority science courses.

Basically, this allows him/her to change her course even before enrollment. However, this is still dependent on the availability of slots.

The other special cases include scholarships that also force a student to study under certain degree programs in the fields of economics/social science, public administration and agriculture. Maraming mga ganyang scholarships...

    2. Sorry dear but the rules are clear. No change of course before enrolment.. no amount of community work/appeal will work here. Unless of course, you are a scholar forced to study under another course. The only option is get your BS OT slot and transfer after a year.

Siguro madedelay ka, pero pwede namang habulin by using summer terms.
Di ko alam kung may discrimination against transferees in general.

I feel your freshie jitters! Siguro nga hindi mo pinag-isipan yung UPCAT form mo nang mabuti kaya you're somewhat craving for answers to ease your troubles. Wag kang mag-alala. Transferring is a long and tedious process, not to mention pressuring.. pero since pumasa ka sa UPM alam kong kakayanin mo yan.. basta aral ka lang mabuti ok?

    a. Oblation Scholars (top 50 UPCAT passers), not exactly nagpapalit but they have the privelege to choose any degree program even if it was not indicated as their choices on the UPCAT application forms.
    b. those who have DOST scholarships, because Dept. of Science and Technology restricts their scholars to engineering and science courses.
    c. those UPCAT passers who applied and got slots in courses with talent test requirements aside from UPCAT like Music, Fine Arts, Theater Arts, Creative Writing/Malikhaing Pagsulat but eventually failed the talent tests thus they are asked for other choices subject to availability of slots and their UPG. they undergo a process much like for DPWAS people.

    2. to make things clearer since we, the resident guides, are not affiliated with OUR/Admissions and you could not take are words 100%, it's better if you'd address your concerns to authorities.

    3. of course GWA would still be the basis of your acceptance when shifting but if all things are equal here is the somewhat priority hierarchy being followed:
    a. shiftees from the same college department
    b. shiftees from other colleges in the same campus
    c. shiftees/transferees from other UP campuses
    d. transferees from other universities/college outside the UP system (those from other state univerisities/colleges are more prioritized than those from private institutions).

if you made it only to your second choice course, does that mean wala na ring chance na makasama sa intarmed?

  4. #44
^Getting into your second choice of degree program doesn't really imply anything other than the fact that you did not get in your first choice because your UPG was not as high as the others who chose that and got admitted. By that, I mean that it doesn't guarantee that you won't be accepted into the INTARMED program.

Although, my analysis is that if your UPG isn't good enough to get you into a course (with at least 30 slots), then it also wouldn't be one of the top 100 UPGs that would be screened for the INTARMED program.

  5. #45
Maglalabas ang UPCAT results 2011 (website and print) ng list of students qualified for INTARMED, also for Oblation Scholars. Mas late nga lang nila yung pino-post, I think.

  6. #46
But, do take my view with a grain of salt. It's not an expert opinion. It's just my personal take. Good luck on getting into INTARMED (if you are targeting the program), though.

It is a bloody program, BTW. My friend, who's an INTARMED freshie, has an academic workload of 22 units this sem (21 last sem). This is in contrast with the normal BS student's workload of 18 units.

  7. #47
    thanks.
yup, i heard. heck, even getting in is hard enough. Chances are, most intarmed students will become oblation scholars as well.
Oh well, it was worth a shot. Made it to UPD though; now there's something to be happy about.

    • magaling magturo, mahirap magpa-exam
    • walang kwenta magturo, mahirap magpaexam
    • magaling magturo, medyo madali magpaexam

^ yep.. UP D's Math Prof's Guide. see post number 10..

di ko kilala yung Power Rangers. Anyway batang profs naman kasi ang nagtuturo ng 17 so wag kayong mag-alala sa first sem nyo sa UP. And the faculty of IMath changes regularly, sometimes we can't even track who's still teaching and who isn't.
