Star Cinema & Spring Films: Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme (Eugene Domingo)

Piolo Pascual says Kimmy Dora sequel is already in the works by Fionna Acaba | February 05, 2010 12:45 PM | Share this article

Spring Films producer Piolo Pascual announced that Kimmy Dora (Kambal sa Kyeme)’s sequel is already in the works and is targeted to be released this year. Because of the positive results of the first movie, Piolo said that he and the whole production team were inspired to create the sequel immediately. “Ginagawa na namin, we had a meeting, me and my co-producers and I we have been through so many pitchings, iba’t-ibang concepts hindi lang Kimmy Dora. But definitely may timetable na yung Kimmy Dora, hopefully within the year maipalabas. Hindi lang ito spin-off nung first , it is really dire-derecho, there’s a story and yun nga maganda kasi ginawa namin yung Kimmy Dora 1 first draft lang siya,e, wala kaming ni-revise, we just had to trim it down para mas compressed pero this time marami nang ideas, ang dami nang nanganak (na concepts). We’re so excited because yun talaga yung pinagtutuunan ng pansin ng Spring Films,” said Piolo.

The sequel is entitled Kimmy Dora 3, jumping one step forward from supposedly Kimmy Dora 2. According to Piolo, it is due to his staff’s ‘idiosyncratic’ yet funny reasons. “Kasi sinasabi nila kapag may part two parang pang-connect yung part two sa three, e, so hindi na kami dumaan sa part two, dinerecho na namin sa three.” He was then asked if “3” meant that it is the last of the “installments”. “Hindi natin alam nung nag-hit naman yung Kimmy Dora, nanggaling din naman sa tao yung clamor for a sequel but siDirek Joyce Bernal kasi, alam niyo naman yung director natin may pagka-adik so naisip niya gawin KD3 (Kimmy Dora 3).” He added that they haven’t started shooting though, as they are still in pre-production stage. “Hindi pa po (kami nagta-taping). Same team pa rin kami, definitely nago-occular na and nagpre-pre-prod na.”

Piolo stated though that he is still unsure if he can be part of the cast this time around. “That remains to be seen. Sa Kimmy Dora 1 gusto ko sana lumabas but since I was bound by my contract with Star Cinema, I couldn’t. So dun lang ako sa outtakes, sa ending pero if there’s a role for me, yes, I’d like to be part of it pero siyempre ang bida mo naman dito si Uge (Eugene Domingo’s nickname), (we want to) really make her shine.”

Meanwhile, it was revealed during the interview that Kimmy Dora lead star Eugene Domingo was very happy to have received a huge bonus from Piolo. Piolo was then asked by the press people about how “huge” is huge. “Huwag na natin alamin yun, basta something na deserve niya because yun lang naman yung lambing niya, she was going to the States for the holidays and naihabol naman ng production staff yung bonus niya, she really deserved it.”

Since Piolo mentioned that the same team from Kimmy Dora will be working for the sequel, Piolo was asked if Dingdong Dantes (Kimmy Dora leading man) will still be part of the cast. “When we were doing the first part kasama naman siya talaga dun, he’s also a co-producer because meron kaming deal with him na he’s a sort of a co-producer na rin nga and if ever sumali (uli) siya dito open kami siyempre.”

KIMMY DORA, THE SEQUEL.

"Yung Spring Films meron kaming gagawin. Yung Kimmy Dora, wala pang script pero within the year gagawin yung [pelikula]."

    "Naku sobra!"

    May chance?

    "Parang wala," ani Joyce.

"Actually si Judai, priority niya talaga yung anak niya. Even yung mga shows na ino-offer sa kanya... sinasabi niya palagi, 'O, May anak ako.'

"Yun talaga ang priority niya at gusto pa nga niya, ano e, sunud-sunod e," pahayag ni Joyce tungkol sa young superstar na matalik niyang kaibigan for so many years.

Eugene Domingo says apartments in New York and London may convince her to become an exclusive TV talent

    *snipped from pep.com*

UPCOMING MOVIES. Aside from hosting her own game show on TV5, Uge is also busy shooting several mainstream movies and indie films.

This July, she will be starring in the Cinemalaya entry Ang Babae sa Septic Tank. This will be directed by Marlon Rivera from a screenplay written by Chris Martinez.

Yung mga aspirations ng filmmakers, ni-represent namin in such a way na satirical.

"This year natapos na tayo sa "Gunaw" [her episode in My Valentine Girls], tapos meron tayong Who's That Girl? Meron tayong Joey Reyes film with Toni Gonzaga. Wala pang final title but it will be produced by OctoArts and Star Cinema. And also Kimmy Dora 2.

Uge describes her film with Toni by saying, "It's about the clash ng characters sa family. Maganda yung istorya, tungkol ito sa isang magpapakasal at isang magpapa-annul."

    EUGENE: TIME TO COMFORT PIOLO

EUGENE Domingo laughs off the declaration of some writers that she gets top billing in “Shake, Rattle Roll 13” “dahil ikaw ang magdadala ng pelikula.”

“Ako magdadala? E, saan ko naman dadalhin?” she says.

No doubt she’s the undisputed Metro Filmfest queen as she has no less than three entries. Aside from “Shake 13”, she’s in “My Househusband” and “Enteng ng Ina Mo.” She has many rambunctious comic scenes in “Househusband” (notably her attempted suicide scene) and in “Enteng”, she gets to spoof Carmi Martin in “No Other Woman” in her line “Ang mundo ay parang Quiapo, maraming snatcher.”

“Masuwerte lang akong puro magaganda ang tatlong projects ko, mahuhusay pa ang mga kasama kong artista at director,” she says. “I’m confident na by positive word of mouth, lalong mas kikita sa takilya ang movies na ito.”

What’s in store for her in 2012? “Tuloy na raw 'yung sequel ng ‘Kimmy Dora’. Kukunan ito on location in Korea, still to be directed by Joyce Bernal at ang title daw ay ‘Kimmy Dora in the Temple of Kiyeme.’ Hindi pa malaman kung sino kina Tom Cruise o Brad Pitt ang kukuning leading man ko.”

The first one was produced by Piolo Pascual. How about the sequel? “Si Piolo pa rin. He’s very much involved with the project.”

Did they ever talk about what happened to him and KC? “No, ano naman ang pakialam ko doon. Pero dahil friend ko siya, parang he’s being roasted, nagparamdam agad ako and texted him ‘I love you’, without any question. He texted me na he loves me too. Wala akong pakialam sa anumang sinasabi ng sinuman. Basta sa’kin, kung friends kayo, now is the time to make him feel na I’m his friend. 'Yun lang.”

KIMMY DORA AND THE TEMPLE OF KYEME. One of Eugene's upcoming projects is Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kyeme, the sequel to her blockbuster launching movie, Kimmy Dora (2009).

She excitedly revealed that they will go to South Korea next week to shoot major scenes in temples there.

"Again, this is written by Chris Martinez," she says about the talented writer-director.

"He has written a bigger, funnier, and more family-oriented screenplay that I'm quite certain all ages will love.

"We have waited for two years and, I tell you, it's worth the wait.

"Manny Pangilinan said he is attending Kimmy Go Dong Hae's launching event, so wait for that in the movie!"

Eugene also mentioned that the filmmakers have plans of inviting Gretchen Barretto to do a cameo in the movie.

MANILA, Philippines – The cast and crew of the upcoming film feature, "Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kiyeme," have just finished work in Seoul and are on their way back to Manila.

According to a report on abscbnnews.com, the Koreans fawned over the Filipino stars during the short visit, with film director Joyce Bernal herself even getting interviewed by the Korean Broadcasting System or KBS.

“The scenery is interesting. There is the traditional and there’s the modern. There is like two worlds in Seoul,” Bernal was quoted as saying in the interview.

In a separate interview, Bernal as with the film’s star, Eugene Domingo, expressed their satisfaction over the outcome of the Korean sojourn, noting how the winter season afforded them to shoot several scenes in a blanket of snow.

Adding another facet to the visit is the meeting between the cast members and Super Junior singer, Kim Hee-chul.

Model-host-actress Alodia Gosiengfiao, who's also part of the film, tweeted about their group’s encounter with the singer, posting, “Heechul (Super Junior) and I are ok now! ^.^ http://tinyurl.com/6tyeejp Earlier at our wrap-up party before heading back home."

Several photos of the get-together now circulate online.

In "Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kiyeme," the sequel to "Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme" in 2009, Domingo will once again portray both Kimmy and Dora, as they try to find love in South Korea.

The movie is set for release by year's end.

MANILA, Philippines – Hunk actor Zanjoe Marudo believes that his newest film “Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme,” which stars Eugene Domingo, will do well at the box office.

The film is the sequel of “Kimmy Dora,” a smash hit movie in 2009.

“Baka naman sabihin na mayabang ako pero, wala talagang pressure. Feeling ko ay mas maganda talaga ito at mas kikita ito nang malaki,” he said.

Directed by Joyce Bernal, “Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme” tells the story of identical twins Kimmy and Dora (both played by Domingo) who will discover a dark specter.

In the film, Marudo will play the role of Barry (Kimmy’s love interest), the same as his character in “Kimmy Dora.”

“Ganoon pa rin ang role ko, ako pa rin si Barry. Taga-bundok at nakilala ni Kimmy. Dito sa part 2 ay lumuluwas na ako sa Maynila at dinadalaw ko na si Kimmy kasi ako ang magbibigay ng ligaya kay Kimmy sa kabila ng pagiging masungit niya,” he said.

“Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme” will hit theaters on June 13.
