Lightbulb SCOPUS-cited researches of Philippine institutions

Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature and quality web sources with smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research.

And as we welcome the new year that is 2011, it is imperative that Philippine academic institutions shift their primary focus on producing international peer-reviewed researches, instead of simply producing topnotchers and board passers in various board (and bar) examinations. If we want to be globally competitive, citation of researches is the real gauge of international academic quality and integrity. I hope that this thread inspires more individuals and institutions to invest and engage in research.

With "Philippines" as the affiliation search, the following institutions are the top producers of Scopus-cited international researches:

So that leaves UP Baguio, UP Visayas and UP Mindanao off the spoils, don't they?

I don't think UST is just a board exam school. So, indirectly, you are telling us that Ateneo is also a board exam school?! Hmmmm... Intelligent thoughts please. This is not a place for bashing. Kaya hindi umuunlad ang Pilipinas ay dahil din sa mga taong katulad niyo.

^ Isn't Ateneo more like a liberal arts school?

Yeah. Pero may Science courses din naman ang Ateneo na makakapagprovide ng research.

  15. #14
Yeah. But aren't there any researches for Arts and Humanities courses?

    What's a UST? Is that a burger?

  17. #16
^ there are.

Nope, UST means Underbelligerent Sexual Tension.

I believe things will even get better for UP College of Engineering and College of Science once the new buildings are finished. Go UP! Continuing to excel both in board exams and in research output!

BTW, isn't IRRI somehow working with UPLB?

Hi mugiwara, yes you are right. What I was trying to imply in my previous question is that all schools and institutions are equally capable of providing research. Ateneo, UST and other schools and institutions' research collectively contribute to PHILIPPINE research. And seeing all this research in scopus is something we should be proud of. I just hate reading posts from people bashing schools for their own benefit. Parang sinisira niyo na rin ang Pilipinas sa ginagawa niyo! At mukhang masaya pa kayo tsk tsk..

Thanks Mugiwara for your intelligent reply

Query: Wala bang research output and FEU at UE? How about Adamson?
