rofl, please don't take it personally. it's just that i have read much japanese manga and american comics since the 90's that i already have a discriminating taste.
in my opinion, the war was just an excuse for different generations of ninjas to do battle to boost sales because that is awesome. not even i can deny that. the problem is that instead of seeing intense battles with meaningful consequences (deaths, injury), we get overly melodramatic situations. if there were no prior occurrence of those, i could have accepted that.
but this is naruto, where villains and heroes die or get gravely injured. i mean, previously, jiraiya died while fighting his student nagato and raikage lost his arm to sasuke. then we now have a "great ninja war." we should expect deaths and injury. i am most disappointed with the fight between the 5 kages and madara. i mean, they are great ninjas and all, but they are fighing madara himself. and no one suffered so much as a broken arm? only bruises and scratches? and how about the battles between rookies and veterans. not a single rookie (with a name) casualty while resurrected veterans were defeated? that's highly unbelievable.
i thought kishimoto wanted to portray the horrors of war as he often done before. i expected the actual war to be more violent than anything previously shown. but now we are having just a drama series with an occasional quarrel.
