read moreso whats the fate of hugnatan (as rumored in the other thread)? Is he really gone for good? Hoping we can take back simon or villanueva.
My guess it's hugnatan for either j.vil or simon.
Management values RH and won't give him up for loose change. and there's a need for another pg/ballhandler.
RH had been good before but for about 3yrs there were only very few games that he'd played well (focus and fired-up). Jonas or Simon for RH, that's a good catch! They need bigman and we need another scoring option.
Tagal ng 2nd conference.
Honestly, RH will be a big big loss for the Aces. I don't see how Simon or Jonas can replace the leadership, hustle and the brusko play inside. Not to mention the low post game.
Outside of Thoss, he is the only real efficient big man of the Aces. Eman may forever be a work in progress. And by saying this, I am not taking JDV for granted, because JDV is more of a hybrid FC player.
I think the key here will be Elmer's development, but how thin-railed he is to man the forward positions, its a big question mark whether or not he can man the paint. But after all, the Aces will have at least 2 conferences to wait for Elmer as we'll have imports for 2 conferences.
Let's not get excited guys. But ok, if I may join the fray, haha...
I honestly don't like the idea of trading a PF for a guard, but that's just me. True, RH's game has declined in previous conferences, but that's due to having an import playing his position and let's not forget he was injured most of this conference. I really like his game and his 'brusko' attitude on the court. And he's our only legit PF.
Yes, we do need a back-up PG. Badly, IMO. I just hope it's not at the expense of a solid player like Reynel.
hugnatan for jo.vil is ok, parang nawawala si jo.vil sa sytema ng bmeg eh.. tingin nyo good fit kaya sya sa alaska? tagal ko na rin pinapangarap na makuha sya, tingin ok syang back up for l.a..
if ever this trade will happen, the departure of reynel will be an open door for EE to develop, maybe it's also the way of coach tim, like what he did when he traded allado to tnt to develop sonny thoss..
may point po kayo sir, pero observe ko lang sa kanya (RH)(everytime nababasa ko itong abbreviation ng name niya RED HORSE ang naiisip ko eh) for the past 2 yrs, bumaba na ang laro niya..
as for EE i think he can man the paint, ika nga nila, he's the younger version of a RH, or baka mali ako, mali din sila, ayaw ko ring magmagaling.. ang team na ang bahala kung ano man ang plano nila, basta ako loyal sa aces no matter what..![]()
Well, if there's anything to hope for about EE, its that Reynel started out as thin as him. But Reynel was about half a decade younger when he started playing in the pro ranks (didn't he join MBA when he was 19?).
I do agree that RH's game has actually dipped, but I think it has more to do with imports and injuries. RH has always struggled during conferences with big imports.
i dont think bmeg will let go of either simon or jonas villanueva....ngayon pa na maganda ang nilalaro ni simon...we need someone to help yap in scoring...and simon fits that bill perfectly...
about jonas tingin ko malabo rin yun....thats the reason why we trade artadi for jonas kasi we need a versatile point guard na may shooting sa labas...roger yap is not getting younger anymore...and jonas will replace him sooner in bmeg's starting 5...those 2 players are so valuable to our team....i don't think kelangan ng trade ng bmeg ngayon....our line up is ok and so is alaska....no offense to alaska but were loaded na sa bigmen with the return of raymundo and reavis this 2nd conference....if we trade either simon or jvill magkakaroon ng imbalance and line up ng bmeg....so i think the better option for alaska is to find a good back up for LA sa free agent pool...
if bmeg doesnt want to bite the trade then ginebra will. theyre loaded with guards and theyre willing to let go of mike cortez or tubid and celino cruz just to catch a prized bigman like hugnatan. reality strucks that ginebra needs a legitimate post threat and a nice decent shooting.
i would rather choose cortez or even tubid rather than pj simon who is now old already or even jonas villanueva who is kabado. my pick. CORTEZ
While I do agree with your statement, I do think SMC has something up in their sleeve. Maybe the long rumored Miller-Raymundo deal will take place now that both players are under SMC. This is of course just my assumption. But it could very well make sense.
Hugnatan is a good replacement for someone like Kerby, although different caliber. Alaska gets to shore up its backcourt, and PF gets an upgrade in Miller, to whoever the guard they give up to Alaska.
meron ba talagang trade rumor between bmeg and alaska?! kasi of all teams bakit sila pa? di na kasi kailangan ng bmeg ang trade now that they will be a complete team at last this 2nd conference...all they need is chemistry and a little fine tuning in their plays and everything is in place....on the contrary alaska is in dire need of a good back up for LA since he is the only legit point guard for the aces...cablay is a natural shooting guard....so hirap talaga ang aces pag wala sa loob ng court si tenorio....why dont they acquire celino cruz? i think wala na sa 14 man line up ng gins si celino so they can get him na...hes a decent pointguard with a good shooting outside plus the fact that hes a good defender...
^Well, just the fact that we've been discussing it confirms there's a rumor or is, in itself, a rumor.Whether there's some truth to it or not, remains to be seen.
Celino would be a good acquisition if he's available. I also like Egay Billones. We need a guard with some shooting skills, not another Topex.
I've always wondered why the team never signed/dealt for celino cruz. it seems he would fit the triangle very well.
Regarding a kerby trade, wasn't it to bring miller to bmeg to play alongside kerby? with rico m.'s emergence, it seems kerby could be dealt - but i'd think it'll be to another smc team; possibly ginebra given how jong uichico always b!itches about their lack of bigmen.
Trading hugnatan would indeed force EE to play bigger minutes. he may lack strength to bang against the ali peeks, but he'll make up for it with his tremendous length and athleticism (think rico m.). it's high-time EE gets some burn. he and jdv can be interchangeable at the 3 and 4 spots; which i think was the ultimate plan in drafting EE.
@steady good point!
now you know what youre talking about. tim cone is talking about mismatches here. if he put EE in 4 position. he can take the dribble off his opponents for his speed and athleticsm. leaving joe d in the 3 spot. which hes more comfortable with offense. in defense. joe slips to 4 spot and ee slips to 3 spot. interchangeable is the right term
^I've mentioned that since draft day. EE and jdv's skills would compliment each other very well. EE the ultra-athletic, above the rim playing, shotblocking, dunking, hustling, fastbreak finishing 6'3 combo forward, while jdv the 3pt shooting, unathletic, ballhandling, perimeter playing, faceup 6'7 combo forward; each one's strengths are the other's weaknesses; needless to say their skills fit w/ each other's tremendously.
But the backup pg issue really needs to be settled. cablay's too brittle to be dependable.
Celino cruz reportedly now practicing w/ powerade. it's beyond me as to why alaska management won't give him a look.
Going to eddie basden, he seems like he'd be a major force in the pba. not a great scorer but tremendous defender and hustle guy. maybe just what the team needs. ferocious dunker too. 6'4 player w/ a wingspan over 6'10. as a comparison, simpson had a wingspan of 6'11.

Cyrus Baguio want to be traded to Rain or Shine. Currently there's a negotiation by both teams for a possible trade.
^That's weird. Alaska won a 'chip with Baguio. And they already traded Sol away before.
