Rave sa Japan ba mayrong bandwidth cap ang mga residential users?
I'm sure meron yan pero they don't tell consumers. And honestly I don't think I've hit it yet because even my provider's basic plan (which is the one I have) is pretty generous to begin with. But then again, medyo mahal din naman yung monthly ko. Definitely mas mahal sa PHP 1000 na usual rate sa Pilipinas.

There goes the only thing that doesn't suck about the "broadband" services we have.

how does this solve our sucky internet state?

  7. #27
It doesn't. This ill-conceived memorandum has merely opened another avenue for ISPs to exploit Filipinos.

this is retarded. instead of moving us forward we've just taken several steps back into the stone age.

the internet helps educate people and connects us to our loved ones. if they start hindering progress then we might as well just go back to martial law.

the inevitable is going to happen, welcome metered bandwidth again. hello ginormous internet bills. by the gigabyte naman, hindi by the hour. this is a load of bullcrap.

it's bad enough that there are a lot of undereducated, underpriviledged, uninformed AND misinformed people in this country. the internet is the one place where everyone SHOULD have access to. whether what they do on the net is legal or not. it's called internet neutrality. something that was once enforced and a lot of people believed in. now it's all about money. ALL people should have the chance to have access to the net. limiting the access down to a crawl is pretty much disconnecting people. the net is supposed to be the one place people where people are truly free and can remain anonymous.

with this, it'll just be back to the time when people didn't even know the net existed. where 7.2kbps modems existed to connect to private servers called bbs's that let's people share information, even if it was just textbased and pictures were ascii.

should we let this happen? how about we make a poll and let the people decide and not some evil group of people trying to take our freedoms away?

edi kawawa computer shops nito? Sabihin na natin na bigger cap yung kanila pero with a 16-24hr operation plus multiple units e siguradong maabot nila yung limit.

They just don't know how to plan well. Capping is not a solution. If nacoconggest sila, then wag silang kuha ng kuha ng subscribers until they increase their fiber backbone. Mga wala din utak mga taga NTC. panay binubusog lang naman sila ng telco

  17. #37
didnt pldt advertise a 99% something rate? i asked them and according to them it will not fluctuate below 99% of ur subscribed rate. that means theyre violating it most of the time )

  18. #38
Fiber is not that expensive anymore. The gov't should not kowtow to the telco's incompetent strategies. Sa totoo lang, mahal ang broadband sa Pilipinas kung price per Mbps ang pag-uusapan.

Payag ako sa pag-cap ng bandwidth kung 99% uptime AND with full disclosure on actual throughput speeds. Also, they should only be allowed to do deep packet inspection only with a warrant. They are not a regulatory body and should not be empowered to check my data without me knowing it.

err, i don't expect the internet activities geared towards "educating people and connecting with our loved ones" are that bandwidth-heavy that we'd, more often than not, exceed the cap that they would set.

actually, im not sure if understood it correctly, but i think that what NTC is allowing capping BUT but but, the internet service provider should be true to their word on their promised speeds.

Fiber is expensive if it is a miles away and will be laid under seafloor. That is what makes our internet expensive. The equipment splicing the fiber is about 500k+.
Bandwidth caping should be announced over media and make sure they explain it well. Problem kasi is they put it on something that usually people do not read. At least witribe alam agad and there is a way to check if ilan na naconsume. But globe, wala.
Ika nga welcome to dialup world again.
