MORE FIRST TIME WINNERS IN 29TH LUNA AWARDS?
by Jose N. Carreon | Posted in Articles | on Fri, May 6, 2011
Expect several first-time winners in this year’s 29th Luna Awards. Odds are great that there will be first-time awardees in the 11 individual categories.
This fact crops up while combing through the official ten-best lists of the academy citers. These lists are now being reviewed by the nominators who will come up with the final nominees. Then the academy voters take over after the nominations are firmly in place.
Let us now play the guessing game, category by category.
Sound
The citers’ list for sound includes two previous winners and five others seeking their first trophy. The winners are Albert Michael Idioma (Feng Shui, 03 and 04) and Addis B. Tabong (Nasaan Ka Man, 05). Vying to snare their first trophy are Aurel Bilbao, Nolet Clemente, Ross Diaz, Warren Santiago and Connie Valdriz.
Since the onset of the new century to the year 2008, there had been six first time winners: Noel Bruan (Abakada Ina, 01), Danny Lorilla (Lapu-Lapu, 02), Idioma (Malikmata, 03), Tabong (Nasaan Ka Man, 05), Angie Reyes (Till I Met You, 06) and Ditoy Aguila (Ouija, 07).

Production Design
There is surely a mark turnover of designers as only one previous winner is in the citers’ list—Joey Luna (Mumbaki, 96 and Aishite Imasu 1941, 04). He is up against nine others: Abet Alvarez, Danny Cristobas, Jens Peter Gaw, Cyrus Khan, Roy Lachica, Arthur Nicdao, Benjamin Padero, Digo Rico and Mark Sabas.

THE AWARDS.
I want to thank Maan.
"Of course my manager, like I always say, thanks. To be a Sid Lucero, there has to be Ricky Gallardo.
"My mom, I know you're here, I know that I had put you through a lot, but I hope you're proud of me."
"I still can't believe na totoo lahat ng ito.
"Pero wala, no regrets at all."
Batang West Side (2001)
Tuhog (2001)

LUNA AWARDS VOTERS PREVIEWS SCHEDULED
by fapweb | Posted in Articles | on Fri, May 20, 2011
The Luna Awards secretariat has released a tentative schedule for the final viewing of nominated films by Luna Awards voters to prepare for the June 18 Awards night to recognize distinguished achievements in 2010.
The voters’ viewing will cover a total of eight days on a Tuesday to Friday skeds for two consecutive weeks. The first week will be from May 31 to June 3 and the second week will be from June 7 to 10.
FAP Director General Leo G. Martinez has sent a letter-request to Prof. Eduardo Lejano Jr., UP Film Institute Director, regarding the availability of the UP Film Center theater for the aforementioned schedule.
Most Luna Awards nominators have already submitted their final nominees for the 29th Luna Awards. Like the citers, the academy nominators will be a peers-judge-their-peers system, meaning directors will choose the nominees for best direction, and so down the line. The academy voters will finally vote on the winners and will cover all categories, including best picture.
The best picture nominees will be the films with the most number of nominations in the categories, provided they are nominated either for best direction and/or best screenplay.
The official best 10 lists of citers are as follows:
