Not only that, the Maroons are also playing in the Filoil summer tourney.
Kaya nga many schools did not allow their players to play in the D League although the Filoil tourney and the D League aren't played on the same days and times.
Just goes to show na the D-league isn't just a league for 1 singular purpose. Pwede siyang tune-up tournament for some college teams, pwede rin siyang showcase ng kayamanan ng ilang mga kumpnya na D-League nalang nga pero nilalabag parin ang napaka-simple namang intindihin na salary cap rule (or galit lang talaga sa pera).
There are also team(s) flaunting their superiority over the rest of the field but gets little unpolluted respect out of it because achievements are tainted with unfair labor practice (hoarding instead of drafting).
And then there are the rest of us who are just aiming for a final 4 seat and kung palarin mang mag-2nd place, eh parang nag-champion narin. Most of the middle-tier teams in the field (like my team) are just in it for the challenge, the competition, the fun, the daily routine (bahay-practice-bahay), and more importantly (especially for the down-the-line members of the team), the employment.
God bless the souls of the PBA D-League team owners who aren't disbanding their teams in frustration eventhough opening day palang, they already knew that no chance in hell na magcha-champion ang mga manok nila.

I found out recently that the whole NLEX team went to Boracay as part of their bonus for winning the recent PBA D-League championship.
Upon learning this, i thought to myself na magandang incentive tsaka
motivation pala ang ganung strategy. Kaya the other day at practice, i announced to my Boracay Rum players that the our bonus will be a trip to Hong Kong....KUNG MAG-2ND PLACE KAMI.
coach, nasa line-up nyo ba this conference si glenn khobuntin?
He IS in the line-up pero a week before the start of the current conference, he came up to me and told me na nakiki-usap daw si Mr. Hans Sy of NU na kung pwede eh i-allow ko si Glenn na makapag-focus muna for NU's preparation for the coming UAAP season.
Pero kahit thank you yata wala akong natanggap eh. Nakapanli-liit talaga.
The reason why i signed Glenn Khobuntin to a 2-year PBA D-League contract was precisely because he told me na tinanggal na siya sa NU.
But i heard naman na sa NU, they allow their discarded/unwanted players to finish their schooling...in fairness to them.
Nice one coach trip to Hongkong
