Why did you enter showbiz?
"Gusto ko po maging sikat."

If you could choose, what role would you like to play?
"Kahit naman po ano; pero kung papapiliin po ako? Siguro po yung mga challenging, katulad nung mga loka-loka, tomboy, mga pipi, bingi."

What was the toughest challenge you had to face?
"Hindi po ako marunong mag-bike. Hindi ko ma-stand, hindi ko mahila. Lahit sa Stairway. Kailangan po, tag-isa kami ng bike doon. E hindi po ako marunong, kaya umangkas na lang ako."

What are you most proud of?
"'Yung sitwasyon ko ngayon. Dati naglalakad ako sa EDSA, walang napansin sa akin. At saka dati, nag-o-audition po ako. Ngayon, [binibigyan na ako ng roles]."

Describe yourself in three words.
"Masayahin, makulit, cute. Kailangan 'yun!"

What is your most memorable experience with a fan?
"May fan po ako taga-Alaska. Parang mag-best friend na kami. Nag-umpisa po kasi 'yun, nag-comment siya sa Youtube, 'yung sa Nido. Ang ganda po ng comment niya, so nag-thank you po ako. Tapos, 'yun, mabait naman po siya, so nag-usap na nga po kami. Uuwi daw po siya ngayong Christmas, eh alam po niyang busy ako ngayong Christmas, so siguro mga February na lang, magkikita kami. Maggagala."

What are your fears?
"Matataas, bike, at saka sa madidilim."

What is your biggest dream?
"Siguro po mas higit pa dito. Pero okay na rin po kung hanggang dito na lang, at least kahit kaunti mayroon."

Barbie and Joshua in Cloud 9

Barbie Forteza and Joshua Dionisio are walking on Cloud Nine these days since their weekly afternoon show Tween Hearts is extended until April of next year.

“We feel blessed!” the two say in unison. “We’re so grateful to GMA for assigning us the show and to our loyal viewers for patronizing it. Originally, we’re to run for only eight weeks but because of the good ratings we have, management decided to give us another five months to air! Wow! Isn’t it great?”

It only goes to show how popular their love team is at present. In the program, they are with generally virtual unknowns and yet, their ratings are impressive.

“Credit not only goes to us. Even if they say Josh and I have already headlined our own shows in the past like First Time and Pilyang Kerubin, still, this is a group effort. It’s not just us. This is a big cast, yes, but the exposures are equally distributed so we can’t claim that we’re the only main attractions here,” explains Barbie.

“That’s right!” seconds Joshua. “It’s like we’re one big family here that viewers don’t want to miss every Sunday.”

Speaking of weekly airing, do they think it helped propel their high ratings?

“I guess so! Viewers kind of miss us because it’s not every day. If it’s once-a-week, they will really watch because they’re just at home especially the teens whose our captive market,” Barbie avers.

There are feedbacks that they are getting closer and closer as days go by.

“Well, yes! As compared to our First Time days, our closeness has gone leaps and bounds. We’re also getting more mature so that helps too,” notes Joshua.

Many believe they already have a secret understanding.

“Oh no, that can’t be!” says Barbie. “We’re still young. We still have a long way to go in our showbiz career. Personally, I have big dreams and I’m bent to really fulfill them. It’s enough that Joshua and I are close at the moment.”

But if the time comes that they can already fall in love, is it possible that they will become sweethearts?

“That’s not a remote possibility. Yes, that can happen…in the future. But as of now, our concentration is on our respective career,” the two state.

Christmas is fast approaching. Considering their present closeness, fans are asking what gifts they are to give each other on this momentous occasion.

“Since I’ve known him for a considerable length of time already, I know what his likes and dislikes are. This Christmas, I can’t reveal what my present for him is but definitely, it will be something that will instantly remind him of me whenever he sees it,” Barbie says.

“When it comes to that, I will just let my mom do the shopping. She knows Barbie. I’m not really good at choosing gifts for girls. But definitely, I want it to be something special,” avers Joshua.
