FOREWORD



On the fateful hour, 11:48 PM, November 29, 2009, a new haven was born – a haven which later became another world; a haven that became the true home of those who believe on one person. A person who does not only exude talent, competence and physical aesthetics, but most importantly a clean heart. A person who would do anything for those people believing in him. And this person houses a large heart, so humongous he wants to allow every supporter inside and keep them warm. This person is the ONE, REAL reason a group of complete strangers huddled together to form a unique bond of camaraderie which later blossomed into a deep almost familial affection toward each other.

Steven Joseph Lao Silva aka Shirubang is the center of every Shirubanger (Shirus for short), the fan club whose name was born out of creativity inspired by Steven’s passion for excellence. It could be recalled that in the advent of the first PEX thread started by Hesed aka sEdsEd23, kripthlinger posted Steven’s message to Hesed explaining how he obtained the nickname Shirubang, and then Lukritah suggested to call Steven’s fans as Shirubangers, which was later seconded by the majority.

Furthermore, the Shirubangers are not the only fan club Steven Silva has. He actually has two. The Shirubangers and the Stevenisthaz! The Shirubangers concentrated on the online activity, since most reside outside of the Greater Manila Area while the Stevenisthaz focus on Steven’s live events. It is through this unique and ingenious strategy that Steven’s fans operate his career in their own special ways.

The Shirubangers come from all walks of life, from every corner of the Philippines and even from the far reaches of the world. A very notable story is the story of one international fan who donated Php10,000 to be spent for the Final Judgment. What was even more amazing was when this fan went home from Canada just to be there for the Final Judgment. Such account is but a fraction of the many ways of how Shirubangers would extend their aid for Steven. It couldn’t be said that Steven’s family bought text votes to make him win as the Ultimate Male Survivor as many chose to believe. His win was indubitably the result of his loyal followers’ endeavors, doing everything they could from POWER VOTING to campaigning via online to ensure his undisputable win. It was not because of Steven’s family’s riches which made him triumph. IT WAS THE FANS’ GENUINE DESIRE TO BRING STEVEN TO THE TOP! Because his fans DID NOT ONLY ADMIRE HIM, but most all THEY BELIEVE IN HIM! Admiration can bring forth affection but the SHIRUBANGERS’ do not just settle for affection. Shirubangers want to BELIEVE in STEVEN, that is why it’s not just affection that reigned in the hearts of every SHIRU. BELIEVING in Steven brought out utmost RESPECT, the virtue which binds even the worst of enemies together. That is what separates the Shirubangers from others. The Shirubangers do not only shout, they THINK!

Steven brought out the creativity from every Shirubanger leading many to bring out their creative sides. From fan arts which were featured in Starstruck Shoutout to literary pieces like poems, and fiction like short stories. Steven became the stimulus for many to think of how they could express their support for him in a manner very different from the others.


In response to the great love he has received from his ever loyal followers, he organized a party to give thanks to everyone who supported him along the way; hence, the first VICTORY PARTY on the twilight of March 8, 2010. The party came out with a BANG as the Shirubangers prepared tons of multimedia artworks to show to Steven. Another feat showing that the SHIRUBANGERS strive for excellence, trying to top each erstwhile endeavor and not only settle on the monotonous tone of mediocrity. Another story which plenty do not know about was when fans from the outskirts of Manila came to the party to honor Steven with their appearance. One traveled from Iloilo to be present while another one who was partying in Boracay abandoned his thrill ride and took the last flight from Caticlan back to Manila in order to grace the affair. Such devotion is incomparable. And when asked why they came? Their answer was that meeting Steven was worth the money they spend.

The first Victory Party inspired the Shirubangers to call for another Party, this time an exclusive invite at the posh Red Box party place on the third level of Greenbelt 3 on April 10, 2010. Steven came even though it was after a MALL SHOW. He reciprocated his followers’ devotion with his own version of it. Amidst his busy schedule and the condition his Tita Beth was in, he came with an open heart and a profound smile to bond with those who wish to be there by his side.

His sincere gesture touched many hearts, making every Shirubanger love him more.

And so, as the days pass by, the Shirubangers’ love for Steven, like a sunflower blossoming tirelessly each day and following the entire course of the sun from morning ‘til night, grows steadily upward, sending cheers and smiles to every passersby. For the Shirubangers are the reflection of Steven Silva’s struggle for success. The Shirubangers feel what he feels, think what he thinks, love what he loves. The Shirubangers are connected to him in a way many wouldn’t understand.


The Shirubangers are his sword and armor, the force that holds onto him no matter what, and never lets go. The group of people which commits to be there by his side through the good times and bad times.

Now the Shirubangers and Steven Silva will feel no rain, for each of them will be sanctuary to the other. Now they will feel no cold, for each of them will be warmth to the other. Now there is no isolation for them. Now there is no more loneliness. Now they are two, but there is only one life in front of them. For the Shirubangers live with Steven Silva. And Steven Silva live within the hearts of all Shirubangers.

Stevenism is a major chronic condition of the brain caused by the highly virulent bacterium Shiruba is-ti-benensis that is transmitted by web surfing and TV viewing. Stevenism is characterized by myriad manifestations, primarily involving the cardiopulmonary and neuromuscular systems.

This disease is relatively young and considered as the only “good disease”. The first reported cases, a hundred or so, were in November 2009 and gradually increased to hundreds of thousands in just a period of four months causing a major epidemic all throughout the Philippines. The latest cases were reported to have occurred in one setting last February 21, 2010 wherein a hundred or so infected persons transmitted the bacterium to millions all over the Philippines and the world as the bacterial source was pronounced as the Ultimate Bacterium Survivor.

Etiology

The current statistics shows that an estimated one (1) million Filipinos (and increasing) are diagnosed to have stevenism. Stevenism is caused by the bacterium Shiruba is-ti-benensis, a newly mutated bacterium which was first formed in California, USA after two bacteria, Shiruba laophilipini and Shiruba silvaportuguesis merged together to form a new class of hybrid. Shiruba is-ti-benensis was not considered pathogenic until October 2009 when it further mutated after it was exposed to a heavy dose of radiation from Starstruck, a very powerful vehicle to stardom. The mutation suddenly caused an infection to hundreds in an instant, causing an outbreak.

Pathophysiology

Unlike all other bacteria which use broken skin and mucus membranes as portal of entry, Shiruba is-ti-benensis enters the human body amazingly through the senses, specifically the ears and eyes. It then invades the brain and slowly transforms the brain cells into Steven cells through the process known as stevening. Steven cells look and function like normal brain cells but produce more powerful electrical impulses that trigger the cardiovascular and respiratory centers of the brain to produce associated manifestations. Steven cells have a high endurance giving Stevenism a relatively long existence in a human being. Steven cells become more powerful when the person is exposed to the bacterial source, in case this event happens. The infected person becomes restless, breathless and delirious, and usually flails arms in the air. The infection can also trigger an automatic scream or a sudden loss of consciousness during severe episodes. Since this disease originates from the brain, it can eventually spread all throughout the body.

Major signs and symptoms

A stevenian, or shirubanger in layman’s term, is an infected person who manifests the following:

Primary Manifestations
1. Insomnia related to the severe stimulant effect of the virus on the brain
2. Paroxysmal euphoria (sudden extreme happiness) caused by intermittent massive exposure to Shiruba is-ti-benensis .
3. Increased heart rate
4. Increased breathing
5. Increased blood pressure
6. Increased temperature
7. Diaphoresis (extreme perspiration)
8. Dilation of pupils of the eyes
9. Autonomic musculoskeletal symptoms such as flailing of hands, banging of head in the air, jumping, clapping, stamping of feet or shouting
10. Delirium (for severe cases)
11. Fainting or loss of consciousness (for severe cases)

Associated symptoms:

Stevenism can cause some of the following bizarre manifestations:
1. Sexual arousal (relatively uncommon but may become common when the bacterium matures)
2. Hallucinations
3. Delusions
4. Illusions

Diagnosis

Stevenism is only clinically diagnosed. There is no laboratory or special test which can diagnoses the condition.

Treatment

The bacterium Shiruba is-ti-benensis is resistant to antibiotics so, it is treated palliatively. That is, this condition is managed by relieving symptoms.

The following are drugs approved by the FDA and BFAD used to treat stevenism:

1. shirubazolam (Stevativan)) for insomnia or musculoskeletal manifestations
2. stevenipine (Calcisteve) for increased heartbeat and increased blood pressure
3. stevepril (Steve S) for increased blood pressure
4. stevetamol (Biosteven) for fever
5. shirubaterol (Shiru-Shiru) for increased respiratory rate
6. shirubazine (Shiruzine) steveapine (pronounced: stiv-e-ap-ine) for hallucinations, delusions, and illusions
7. stevectacyd (Lactosteve) for vaginal wetness
8. Shirubang jelly for arousal

Note: Stevenism is unpreventable if the eyes can see and the ears can hear.
