Another question. I'm still using this program and haven't stalled on any of the exercises just yet. What I slightly dislike about it is that my squat's 1RM has reached 309 lbs. and none of my jeans are going past above my knees anymore. I'm pretty satisfied with my legs now so I'm thinking whether I should shift to another program or just carry on with the same program but not add more weights to squat. Any suggestions?

Diet yan. hindi sa program. sayang naman kung ihihinto mo e may progress ka pa.

bawas ka onti ng calories pero wag mo biglain

Diet? Hmmmm. I don't eat that much naman eh, siguro nakaka-2700 cal/day ako which I think isn't too much. For what it's worth, I'm 5'7 1/2 and weighs around 150-152 lbs.

    ako 5'7 150lbs, 2000 lang.

    try 2500 first

    Hi everyone,

The 3rd edition has been out for some time. There are 3 versions I can see from the torrent sites: a 229 megabyte PDF with nice formatting, a 9 megabyte .mobi (kindle) version, and a 15 megabyte PDF of the kindle version.

And of course, you can check out the original website and talk to the author on his forum, just don't ask stupid questions because he doesn't like it.

I would like to ask people here, who have Olympic or Powerlifting barbells here? Where did you buy them? I am considering a B & R Bar from Rogue Fitness and was wondering if there are local dealers or suppliers here? Or would I have to import it myself?

To the big gym owners (Zest?), where can I get a decent bar and plates? do we have Werksan here? (Chinese brand, but Olympic quality). Where do those big commercial gyms get their Ivankos, Eleikos, etc ? I want those.

    Thank you all.

I do Starting Strength as is, no changes. In fact, since I don't have a proper bench, I just do standing Presses. I keep stopping every few months, so when I re-start, I just do it again, so my PRs have not exceeded 250 pounds, which is sad because I've been doing basic barbell training since 2004.

As for clothes / pants size, you really should just get used to ordering a larger waist size, then have it altered. The hips and thigh parts are very hard and expensive to alter, but madali lang ang waist. My waist is about 32-34, but I always buy 36 jeans, then use a belt na lang, or have it altered. Gusto ko maluwag sa hita, and also because I stuff a lot of things in my pants or pockets.

Buy your clothes at the mall, then pa alter mo dun, mura lang.

    ivankos from finix
As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts can make them strong by exercising himself in right thinking.

Sa bahay lang bro. I got a 5 foot exercise (1 inch) bar from Chris Sports in Festival Mall many years ago, and assorted plates.

Then I had a wooden bench made, and a pair of metal tube squat stands welded up. Wala akong proper bench press setup, but I am thinking of modifying the squat stands to have a lower j-hook for the bench press. Medyo wobbly nga yung stands kasi hindi flat.

@blakedaddy, where is finix? how much mga stuff nila (bars, plates) ? meron ba email or website, I want to ask for a price list?

    Thanks.

*edit* I found finixcorp.com ... checking it out now.

Pwede kita I-guest sa gym kung gusto mo , PM mo lang ako. Glad to help someone na hindi boy incline -decline -abs 5x a week. Masakit yung 1inch bar pag 300+ na hehe

  10. #210
Guest? sa gym? Do you mean, like a free trial? Nasubukan ko na yung Fitness First sa Alabang and yung Gold's. I just went there to listen to this trainer/salesperson talk about it, then proceeded to do my squats when he disappeared. I took advantage of the free trial. Then never went back. hehehe.

1 inch bar, kasi it was P600 at that time. Ok lang naman. I didn't know then that 6 or 7 foot bars would be better.

Sa bahay lang talaga ako kasi the only time I can train is after 9 PM, or early morning at 4 AM. So out sa aken most commercial gyms. That, and most of them don't have power racks.

  11. #211
Lol sayang. Humble beginnings din ako bro , 1 inch bar na nga baluktot pa haha.

Pag bibili ka bar, para sa kin wag sa ensayo kasi masyado makapal mahirap mag deadlift. Or kung may ibang model sila na di ko alam.

  12. #212
I want a 29 mm bar. hehehe. The one I am looking at is the B&R bar. Then, several years later, and when I have saved up for it or won the lotto, I will get the stainless steel Ivanko 29 mm powerlifting bar.

Ubos savings mo sa shipping haha.

Actually, if you use a freight forwarder, the shipping from USA to Philippines is only $40 for a 7 foot bar. By boat.

So I am also now considering a Rogue Power Bar.

    This is interesting.
Have you verified this with your forwarder?

  16. #216
Yes, by email. The quote is for a box that is 7 feet long, 4 inches wide, 4 inches deep. So $40 is for one bar. Of course it will weigh 20 kilos or 44 pounds.

$40 is also the charge for a normal sized balikbayan box. You can stuff bumper plates there. But I think it's better to get the plates locally. I may just buy the bar only.

I could ask Rogue what the size of the packing will be if I buy more than one bar, then ask the forwarding company how much to ship that. I just don't know if there is a market for such bars here, I've asked some other forums but most people aren't willing to fork out P17,000 to P18,000 for a bar when you can buy a local one for P5,000 that's good enough for the first 200 pounds.

Heck, I'm only using the cheap exercise (1 inch sleeve) bars. But my next purchase would be an upgrade to an imported bar.

Kung ako lang, I might do it. Kung meron makikisabay, then I'd need the full payment, so kung walang kakagat, eh, di, ako lang muna.

There have been recent reports of Rogue shipping bent bars, so you might want to wait for them to get their act together. Or just get an Ivanko locally.
