Toni Gonzaga is a revelation sa MAG. I super love the movie. This is the best film of 2010. Congrats Toni, Lloydie, and Direk Cathy. Sulit talaga ang binayad namin for the movie. Kahapon sa Trinoma sobrang dami ng nanood.Tapos puro positive feedback pa bout sa movie. Sarap ulit-ulitin..Nakakawala talaga ng stress.

Indeed, what you sow is what you reap. Toni is now reaping the fruit of her kindness and humility. She truly deserves all the good things that is happening to her career. I am so happy and proud for Toni as one of her silent fan.

Yesssssssss! Napanood ko na My Amnesia Girl kagabi! Sa megamall, 8pm screening, punong-puno ang balcony, ang orchestra mga 1/3 filled. Good enough yung number, I guess. Nakakatuwa reactions ng mga tao, puro positive, natuwa ako sa mga nasa likod namin. Sabi, "Ang ganda pala ni Toni noh?", sabi nung isa, "Maganda naman talaga siya e!". Tapos sabi ulit, "Naiiyak ako, mababa luha ko e.", sabi nung isa, "Ayaw mo pa manood ha!" [spoiler start]Just one thing, the ending was very predictable; but over-all, napakaganda. Totoo pala yung 84 ang kissing scenes dito! Hahahaha![spoiler end]

Nakakaproud si Tin! Gusto ko na panoorin ulit, ang ganda ganda ng storya, ang galing ng acting, lahat ng emotions nacapture nila. Congrats Toni, John Lloyd, Direk Cathy and to the rest of the MAG team! Guys, tell your friends to watch, and tell them to tell their friends to watch! Let's make it a super blockbuster hit for Tin!

Sa premiere night, hindi nila akalaing ganu’n karami ang mga nanonood at positibo ang ibinigay na komento.

Katunayan, may nagtanong agad kung magkakaroon daw ba ng Part 2 ang My Amnesia Girl. Bagay din daw palang magka-loveteam sina Toni at Lloydie. [spoiler start]Ang ikinatuwa pa ng lahat, totoo daw pala talagang napakaraming kissing scenes nina Toni at Lloydie.[spoiler end]

Biruan nga ng dalawang lead stars, hindi raw nila mabilang kung nakailang kissing scene sila. Hindi rin naiwa-sang itanong kay Toni ang tungkol sa “iringan” nila ni Mariel Rodriguez.

Hindi sinagot ni Toni ang tanong at tanging sinabi, sob-rang hirap pa raw magsalita kung tungkol kay Mariel ang pag-uusapan.

Did you know that it was Direk Cathy Garcia who was insistent on having John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga team up in a movie?

She has worked with both in several of their successful movies, kaya somehow, alam ni Direk Cathy how to make the most ng puwedeng ituring na ‘asset’ ng dalawa and ‘create’ a kakaibang chemistry between them.

“Sure ka?” tanong daw ng ilang executives ng Star Cinema, which produced the movie.

“Sure na sure,” sagot ni Direk Cathy. “All I need is a good story and script na babagay sa tandem nilang dalawa.”

Several storylines from the creative team ng Star Cinema ay, wika nga, ‘inilatag’ kay Direk Cathy.

Aniya: “’Di ko pa man natatapos basahin ang story ng My Amnesia Girl, alam ko na kaagad that it was the ideal story and, not to say, script for John Lloyd and Toni.”

That Direk Cathy wasn’t prove wrong was the unanimous verdict of the crowd who trooped to the Megamall when the film had its premiere showing last Tuesday.

Yes, John Lloyd and Toni make for a good tandem.

Direk Cathy has always been known to have the ‘magic touch’ at the box-office.

She has a string of hits to prove this: You Are the One (2006); One More Chance and You Got Me (2008); A Very Special Love and My Big Love (2008); You Changed My Life (2009) and Miss You Like Crazy (2010).

Now comes My Amnesia Girl.

All the films mentioned, if you noticed, either had John Lloyd or Toni as lead actors.

MANILA, Philippines - Actor John Lloyd Cruz and TV host-actress Toni Gonzaga said they are game to do the part 2 of their first team-up movie, or to shoot a new movie altogether.

The 2 stars said they are willing to work together after their first team-up movie, "My Amnesia Girl" under Star Cinema, was well-received.

"After nitong pelikulang ito at after kong ma-experience ang husay ni John Lloyd Cruz eh 'di kung gusto mo, kahit bukas. Ang galing galing kasi niya," Gonzaga said.

"Alam mo, first time kong na-experience 'yong closing credits pa lang ay sumisigaw na ang mga tao ng 'Part 2, Part 2,'" Cruz said.

The actor added that he's really happy especially after his and Gonzaga's fans joined forces to watch the movie.

He even bared that Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson's fans known as Kimerald were also there to support "My Amnesia Girl."

"Sobrang nakakatuwa. Kitang kita mo kasi lahat ng fans namin sa side ko at sa side mo (Gonzaga). Pati ang Kimerald na wala sa side namin (ay sumuporta). Nakakatuwa po," Cruz added.

The "Imortal" star said that he's just happy that people welcomed and supported his tandem with Gonzaga, whom he never worked with. He has never been linked to Gonzaga either.

"Ang sarap isipin kung paano nagma-mature ang audience. Nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na kahit hindi kami in real life, kahit ngayon lang kami gumawa ng pelikula ng walang kahit anong history ay nabigyan kamin ng pagkakataon na magkaroon ng pelikula," Cruz said.

"My Amnesia Girl," has already earned more than P12 million in ticket sales, “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” reported.

Citing the data released by Star Cinema Booking and Distribution, SNN's host Boy Abunda reported that the film earned P12.8 million as of 9 p.m. Wednesday.

FIRST TIME NA magsasama sa big screen ang three-time Box-Offi ce King na si Papa John Lloyd Cruz at ang Multi-Media Star na si Toni Gonzaga sa inaabangang romantic-comedy fi lm ng taon, ang My Amnesia Girl ng Star Cinema. Huhusgahan ang kanilang unang sabak bilang loveteam sa pelikula kaya naman it’s a big challenge sa dalawang bigating taartits na maging isang malaking success ang kalalabasan ng project.

Nakitaan ng future ang ipinalabas na trailer ng pelikula kaya malamang hindi mabigo ang management at ang mga tagahanga nina Lloydie at Toni kapag nagkataon. Movie Review for My Amnesia Girl
Forgive, Not Forget

The emotional meat of My Amnesia Girl happens in somewhere in the middle. There, the prospective lovebirds (who were once engaged to be married) lay out all the pain that the past holds for them, the pretense of a lie allowing them the courage to be honest with each for once. This is a fantastic moment, but it happens way too early. The rest of the film can only provide the standard romcom thrills, which means grand romantic gestures. But the film still manages to get its big, goofy heart across, despite all of the mainstream murkiness.

Years ago, despite being madly in love, Apollo (John Lloyd Cruz) left his fiancee Irene (Toni Gonzaga) at the altar. Now, Apollo has yet to forgive himself for making this mistake, and he's feeling his loneliness even more as he watches his friends settle down. By pure chance, he runs into Irene, but she tells him that she has amnesia, and doesn't remember him at all. Apollo sees this as a chance to make up for his mistakes. But Irene is only pretending, and she takes this as a chance to exact some revenge.

The premise is a tricky one; even the characters in the film have to admit that they had to be complete boneheads to believe In Irene's big lie. It's actually hard enough to believe that Apollo is the kind of guy that would leave the love of his life at the altar. But the film commits to the absurdity in a remarkable way. It sets up a pretty interesting dynamic, with the characters both pretending that they didn't have a history, both knowing full well that they do. The film uses this to create these painfully touchy situations where the two are forced to face the harsh realities of their past while keeping up the illusion of not remembering of caring. What could have been just another cutesy local romcom actually becomes somewhat of an interesting take on atonement, with the cake amnesia creating the space necessary for that sort of penitence to take place.

Of course, much of this atonement comes in the form of big romcom gestures. Apollo makes himself Irene's slave for a day, or he wallpapers her house with love notes. The premise made things tenuous enough, but Apollo's infinite capacity for staging grand gestures (and his seemingly bottomless wallet) makes the sentiment a little harder to swallow. Still, some of these gestures do work, particularly the ones that tie into what the characters are actually feeling. The larger problem lies in the third act, where narrative insecurity takes over and a sweet, simple end is traded in for another big contrivance.

The direction is solid, but perfunctory. The music swells and the focus softens, as romcoms are wont to do. This film's appeal mostly lies in the cast. John Lloyd Cruz can change the texture of a scene with a look, drawing on all the air around him as he shifts from comedy to drama. Toni Gonzaga is aggressively adorable, bordering on cloying. But when the moment calls for it, she hits her dramatic beats like a pro. The background players all fill their roles nicely, creating plenty of loose, natural moments to hang the story around.

My Amnesia Girl peaks pretty early. The film's most painful scene happens somewhere in the middle, with the characters baring their pain to each other through the pretense of their collective amnesia. It never gets that good again; the film forgoing the brutality of their emotions in favor of increasingly contrived romcom shenanigans. But to its credit, the film never lets go of its small, beautiful truth. In its quieter moments, the film is simply about the challenge of forgiving and asking for forgiveness; how people go on trying to forget, rather than facing their pain. Maybe it took a big lie to get there, but getting to the truth makes it worthwhile.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Movie Review: My John Lloyd Baptism in My Amnesia Girl

I used to be one of the few Filipinos who had never seen John Lloyd act. Yeah, I know, he's like, just the biggest male actor draw right now but I don't think I'm quite the demographic his movies and TV shows have been targeting. I've heard about Imortal and all those movies he had with Bea and Sarah - but I felt they were for younger people who still get kilig with love. I still get kilig with love but with more mature actors (older characters preferably).

Anyhow, tonight, a friend of mine dragged me to watch this new movie of his since my friend had already seen the movie I wanted to see, the sci-fi movie Skyline. Since it was one of my New Year's resolution to get out of my comfort zone, I decided to say yes again! Last week, he dragged me to Harry Potter when I wanted to see Unstoppable, tonight, I had to acquiesce again in favor of My Amnesia Girl. He also wants to watch Marian's Bibe movie. Seriously!

Actually, it's also the first time I see Toni Gonzaga in a theatrical run of her movie since the I only saw her on cable in that Sam Milby movie where Sam is a US embassy consul - and she was great in it - so I knew she could act! And yeah, I have her latest CD, so I know she also moonlights as a singer, among other things she can do!

The movie was cute and charming and funny - the way rom coms should be. Toni and John Lloyd make an attractive couple and they do have a lot of funny things to say. The 'bola' thing though gets a bit dated after a while. You'd have to watch the movie to understand what I mean. It's nonstop bola script from beginning till the end credits. Even after we left the cinema, my friend was still in 'bola' script mode - I was begging him to stop since I was always laughing!

It's a breezy movie although I find it odd that after what John Lloyd did to her, Toni Gonzaga's character was still very diplomatic with him. If this were a Paul Thomas Anderson movie.....there will be blood!! Now, that would be an interesting thesis to a jilted lover!

RED CARPET WATCH: My Amnesia Girl
Star Cinema's My Amnesia Girl had a red-carpet premiere last November 23, 2010 at SM Megamall.

Three-time Box-Office King John Lloyd Cruz is paired with Toni Gonzaga for the first time in this romantic comedy.


Toni Gonzaga arrived at the movie premiere looking every inch the femme fatale in a dress by Francis Libiran while John Lloyd Cruz was dapper in a suit by Zara.

In My Amnesia Girl, Toni Gonzaga brings life to Irene, the ex-girlfriend of Apollo (John Lloyd Cruz). When Apollo accidentally bumps into Irene three years after he broke her heart, he makes it his mission to make it up to her and give their love a second chance.


Director Cathy Garcia Molina directs John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga in their first movie project together. Direk Cathy recalls, "Napansin ko na sa character descriptions nina Apollo and Irene that John Lloyd and Toni were perfect for their roles."


The cast members of My Amnesia Girl won't be able to join the international screenings scheduled at the following venues from December 3-9, 2010: UA Horton Plaza, San Diego; Regal Village Square Stadium, Las Vegas; Parkway Plaza Stadium 12, Seattle.


Some of the locations used for My Amnesia Girl are the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center and Fernwood Gardens which are both in Quezon City.


When John Lloyd joined the male cast members of the film, he immediately proposed a toast!


Toni Gonzaga and John Lloyd Cruz gave credit to the screenplay writers—Carmi Raymundo, Jade Castro and Miguel Sevilla—for the witty dialogue in My Amnesia Girl.


My Amnesia Girl is the sixth movie of director Cathy Garcia Molina with John Lloyd Cruz. This is Toni Gonzaga's fourth time to work with the director.
