Question Received 221(g) letter from US Embassy Manila

Received 221(g) letter from US Embassy Manila - has anyone experienced this? This letter is printed in green paper.

I'm here for 3 weeks only, bakasyon lang. But I needed to get "visa stamping" too kasi I had "visa extension" while I was in the States.

The Consular Officer who interviewed me wanted me to provide additional docs. So she gave me the 221(g) letter.

I informed my employer about this already and the docs are already on their way here.

My question is this, how would you know the status of the application after you have submitted the additional docs? Does the US Embassy call or send a letter to inform you?

I'm very worried about this. I do not want to be stuck here, while I have work/client waiting for me in the US, bukod pa dyan ay yung mga gamit ko sa US and yung binabayaran kong apt dun.

I have read a lot of Internet discussions about 221(g) letters, but all of them are about experiences with US Embassies in India.

Please share your experiences with 221(g).

    Salamat!

Have you gone through this link:

    http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhni27.html

If an applicant is refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and is requested to provide additional information or supporting documents, s/he will receive a 221(g) letter with instructions on how to proceed. S/he will not need to make another appointment or pay another application fee. S/he has one year within which to comply with the requirement of the 221(g) letter.
Hope you can find (some of) your answers there.

How are you instructed to submit the docs? In person? By courier?

Kwento ko na rin pala yun nangyari sa utol ko, FWIW.

In applying for a tourist visa last year, he was given the pink slip -- asked by the consul to bring his old passport with the old US visa and come back at a certain date. When he returned on said date, mga one week later yata, he just showed him the old passport and yun na, apprub na visa niya. But that's for tourist visa. HTH.

    Unhappy

Yes, nabasa ko na yang info na yan... problema dyan ay walang info sa kung ano mangyayari after you submit the docs. There is no way to "track" the case.

Ang sabi lang dun, send the docs using the approved courier. Di na daw kelangan ng appointment ulit.

Sana nga pinabalik na lang ako at a certain date, para alam ko na agad ang resulta after I give the docs.

The best you can do is keep track of whether they received the documents you sent. I assume you'll be sending it via Air21 or some other similar courier. If yes, you'll be able to track it and see whether the embassy received it, and more importantly, WHEN they received it. From there your can do a sort of countdown to see how long they get back to you. Hopefully it will not be outrageously long. Good luck and keep us posted of developments if you like.

@bluevitamin- Was your petitioner an agency, or do you work at job sites away from the employer that issues your check? If so, there have been some changes in how USCIS handles these cases, and in some cases the embassy has started asking for more info and even calling employers in the US. Can be a real problem for H-1Bs and H-2Bs that are placed at their jobsite through an agency.

Hope you case is resolved quickly!

Verification lang yan between you and your employer, sabi mo nag visa extension ka. Yan minsan ang nangyayari kapag nag exit ka while your visa extension is still processing, kung baga parang RFE lang yan... yong iba nga sa Canada pa na iipit... anyway nasa employer mo na naksalalay yan kung gaano sila kabilis magpadala ng docs... minsan nga current pay stub lang ang kailangan, OK na... ano ba ang visa mo?

I'm not sure what you mean by "agency", but my employer is an IT consulting company based in the US.

I received the docs from my employer last Thursday. I immediately went to air21 to send the docs to the embassy. According to air21 tracking, the docs were received Friday morning.

Ilang days kaya ako maghihintay ng call nila? I am so worried. I'm supposed to be back in the US by Nov 28. I hope I make it on time.

Maraming salamat! I just sent her PM. Mukhang similar nga ang case namin. I hope she is still actively browsing this forum.

    H1B ang visa ko.

Yung CO na nag-interview sa akin, tiningnan na yung paystubs ko during my interview and satisfied naman sya.

Na-extend na ang visa ko while I was still in the US. I have NOA already.

had my interview last 9/22 for an L1 Visa- Blanket petition
the consul said that my visa is approved, but at that time they are having system issues, since he cant see the Blanket approval on their system.
Nonethless, he told me not to worry, since it is approved, and so i proceed to Air21 booth to pay for the courier fee.

6 days after- I got my passport along with the copies of my I-129 form (which has the validity period of the visa, along with the consul's signature), I got the biggest shock, when the parcel also includes a 221(g) letter, that states, that my visa has been temporarily suspended because it needs further administrative processing.

    What does it mean?
it just strikes me as bizaare, when In fact the consul has approved my visa- but i got the letter instead the visa stamp on my passport

    HELP

    thanks

If not too personal, may we know what type of information the embassy was asking for? I hope your employer understands the "fun" of dealing with an embassy!

@karlanna - I hope ma-resolve na ang case mo. Lampas 2 months na yan, right? I know how you feel.

@JA - Pasensya na po, I would like to keep that info to myself.

I will post an update soon.

I really don't know how long you will wait. It's case to case. Just pray everything will be OK, and you'll make it on time. Good luck -- hope it will be good news. Keep us posted.

Bukod dyan pala sa visa stamping mo, kapag na release na yan... kailangan mo pa atang pumunta sa POEA para sa OEC... I don't know if you need that, kasi H1B working visa yan baka maipit ka sa airport. Sa Pinas ka na inabot ng Thanksgiving, paki post na lang kung kailangan pa ng POEA...

    Good Luck and God Bless...

Hi. I just wanted to share my experience with the US Embassy. I had my interview last Nov 30 for an L1B Blanket petition, everything seems to be working well, at the conclusion of the interview I was given a 221(g) letter and the reason the Consular Officer told me was that they can't find the record of the company's petition in the system. He said it wont take too long, he kept my passport and I129 and asked me to arrange for the delivery of my passport. I waited everyday and luckily yesterday, after a week, my passport arrived and it was approved. So for those who are caught in this "admistrative processing" stage, just be patient and it will soon arrive. Good Luck to everyone.
