ever since this rumor started, NU107 has been having a technical problem. is this a sign? i hope not.

The rain couldn't dampen the rocking vibe at Circuit Makati as concert-goers just rocked and partied harder in Circuit Fest 2013.

one thing i noticed is that they're playing more of the old stuff. i was able to hear suffer the children (tears for fears, 1984), rusty cage (soundgarden, 1992), in the end (linkin park, 2001) and simple kind of life (no doubt, 2000) within an hour.
That wouldn't be a bad mix, methinks.
I do hope NU doesn't reformat. And I don't think they have a reason to reformat - it's not that they're losing money, right? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Nice to hear from you again Sir Mike![]()
wag sana magreformat...
missed the 90s when lightning crashes was the most popular song in the station...
kung me natipuhan akong kanta; bili agad ng cd noon... hehehe...
Baka naman hindi sila mag babago ng genre and it will just be a programming overhaul with new (or improved programs), new DJs or new logo or new slogan. Madami naman silang commercial everytime I listen to them so maybe it just a move to freshen things up for them but I don't think it's a drastic change
I think I saw on a promo poster of Tanduay's Rhum Fest 2010 what seems to be a newly-design logo for NU. Doesn't look "rock-ish" though.
mukhang NU 107 will be reformatting na nga talaga & magiging masa station na rin siya

LOL, sabi ni JDEE by January 2010 daw, the transformation will be completed. Eh anong petsa na?![]()
Haha, anyway, isn't the masa market saturated already? Even from a financial standpoint, reformatting to a masa-station is not a good idea. The commercial load of NU seems to be okay naman.
As I posted earlier, NU's playlists during the recent years has deteriorated. They are not anymore the most updated in bringing the latest in rock music. Jam has taken their place. So if ever they do reprogram, I hope they'll give Jam some competition. (wishful thinking)
Ethnic cleansing of Manila radio?
So what the heck happened on keeping listeners "entertained, informed, and enlightened"? The people running these masa stations should be punished for destroying variety and "dumbing" down the masses (for a lack of a good term for it).
The owners of NU used to own a TV station that played videos of the songs that were played on the radio. But it was sold to the group of Ang Dating Daan and is now a news station. I think this is the same route NU 107 is taking now.
Well, let's not crucify the masa stations because they serve an existing market. Wala tayo magagawa if there are people who like listening to Jovit Baldovino.
Ang sa akin lang, masyado na silang madami. I think even the masas are already loyal to certain radio stations. I don't think they'll immediately switch stations just because there's another masa station on the air, unless that new station pirates popular masa DJs. (like what 103.5 did to Mr. Fu)
I think NU's audience is not naman that niche. After all, madami ring "jolog" bands na nanggaling dito, so wide din ang target audience ng NU.
Gone were the days, particularly back in the 80's, when you can go channel surfing and find different types of programming catering specifically to a niche market. At that time, listeners had a choice among:
POP / CHR - DWRT, KISS, WLS, DWKB, MAGIC, DWRX, DWKC, DWKY
MELLOW / LIGHT ROCK - DWLL, DWRK, HOME, DWRR
JAZZ - DWWK, DWCT
MOR - DZMB, DWFM, DWDM
CLASSICAL / STANDARD - DZFE, DWIM, DWCS
ROCK - DZRJ, DWNU
NEW WAVE - DWXB, DWBM
The top-raters back then were:
1. DWLL
2. DZMB
3. DWFM
4. DWKC
5. DWLS
i listened to kc back in the 80s... pop noon e omd; depeche..
me mga joke segments in between commercial breaks...
much like we have in masa stations... mas maganda lang talaga music noon... (unless a jologs fan disagrees!!! hehehe)
sobrang dami na nga yung cde station dadagdagan pa... what could be next???
btw plug ko yung fave song ko dito; played by nu107;
moon by fossil...![]()
Although I'm never a listener of NU, I believe variety (which I've been saying quit a lot these days) is the best way for listeners to be exposed with different genres of music and give them a wide array of stations to choose from depending on their preference: CHR/Pop, Jazz, Classical, Oldies, News/AM on FM, Rock, Dance, Hot AC, etc.
The situation today is just awful. Most stations today have the same type of format with content near identical. They offer nothing but the same thing. The market may be buying the idea that what the masa stations is giving to them is okay but it may be because they have a rather limited choice of stations to choose from.
What's worse, these type of stations are feeding listeners with content that contributes to society's ills, encouraging socio-economic stereotypes, giving stain the national language with gay lingo, and helping erode people's proficiency to English as our second language.
And all of these are being done to us listeners for the sole purpose of earning big bucks. Where's the thing they call "corporate responsibility"? Because obviously they're not showing it.
Maybe in a few years or even months, other stations like RX, Crossover and Dream might also follow suit with their own reformats, degenerating into Love Radio-clones that offer nothing new but merely the same thing: jokes, laughing tiyanaks at the background, annoying DJ's who pretends to sound like a palengkero, and overplayed jeje-music.

Amen to that. J5bata. its really frustrating on the listeners part. Or for the listeners who are not into this type of format. 7 stations now of the same crappy programming. Annoying chipmunks laughter. Gay Lingo.
Hinde ka na in kung hinde ka bading and jologs! At promdi. Im not degrading the people who belong to this class. But there is nothing informative that can feed the minds of the lower class.
I mean they try applying for a call center job they might not get hired at all coz their english sucks.
Dumudugo ilong pag nag -english na. They might not get even hired abroad.
