    Macro photography using a reverse ring

    Hi! can anyone help me how to set-up a reverse ring on my canon 500D with 18-55mm kit lens? Interested ako sa macro photography but with a limited budget. Just a newbie. thanks po in advance!

    Here's my gear & paraphernalias:
    1. Kiss X2 (450D); pop-up flash
    2. Kitlens (18-55mm)
    3. Macro reversed ring adaptor
    4. DIY flash diffuser (KFC bucket cover)

    First, before you reverse the lens, set your apperture between f/16 to f/22. press & hold the DOF preview to set the apperture opening of your lens, while holding the DOF preview (camera on), detach your lens.

    You can now attach the reversed lens to the body with the ring adaptor. Btw, all are set to manual mode (shutter speed 1/60 sec, iso 100-200)... use your feet (forward/backward) to focus your subject.

    The wider the focal length you use (using reversed lens), the larger the magnification of the subject.

    ma'am, check mo po kung kayang i-compensate ng available light yung ise-set mong opening ng apperture at setting ng exposure/shutter speed... pero I guess u still need to use the flash & diffuser kasi nga maliit na yung opening ng apperture mo, and of course para narin magkaroon ng mas magandang source of light para lumabas yung details ng subject mo...

    @saweverything
    thank you sir....

    another macro test shots...

    Same gear lineup with TS. Im planning to buy a reverse ring, wala bang kaso pag gamit ng reverse ring? Kase may nabasa ako somewhere sa net, na parang may epekto yung paggamit nung ring na makakasira sa lens. Before I buy the reverse ring, gusto ko muna makasigurado. Alam nyo na. Salamat!

    i don't think its risky to use a reverse ring. maraming photographers naman gumagawa nun. prone lang siyang mapasukan ng dirt and dust kaya dapat ingat lang. but if u can afford, its better to buy a macro lens.

    sa tingin ko po kpag walang diffuser, nag-o-overexposed ang subject from straight flash....
