Smile ISKO'T ISKA, i need all your help! :))

I'm currently in my junior year. I'm very interested to study at UP DILIMAN.

Ito ang nakuha kong marka last 1st grading :
(Ilagay nalang natin lahat, para mas masaya.)

    Filipino: 87
    English: 85
    Foreign Language/Turkish: 93
    Social Studies: 92
    Biology: 86
    Chemistry: 90
    Physics:86
    Mathematics: 86
    Computer: 95
    Values: 91
    P.E: 92

    ***FAVORITE SUBJECT:
MATHEMATICS; ( Math olympiad ako. Bumaba lang kasi hindi nakaadjust ng maayos.)

    ***WEAKEST SUBJECT
    SCIENCE

May nakapag-aral na ba sa UP na mas mababa pa sa 85 ang grade noong high school years niya?

    SALAMAT!!! )

Given your grades, I must say that you have been doing well in your acads, particularly in your major subjects. Just keep that up, and do very well in your UPCAT to pull up your University Predicted Grade.

As for your last question, since UPG is composed of your HS grades and UPCAT grade, studying in UP with a grade of 85 is possible. Although I'm not sure if the 85 you are referring to is an average.

    What does UPG stands for?
I'm referring to the average not the particular grade. )
    THANKS.

That's University Predicted Grade for you. Combination of HS grades and UPCAT scores.

What would happen if I get low score from the science test in the UPCAT? Does it affect my chance of getting in?, even though the course I'll chose is BS MATHEMATICS?

Hmmmm. Your chosen course is irrelevant to passing the UPCAT. Whatever course you indicate in your application form, your UPG (ranked against other applicant's UPG) will be the important factor in being admitted.

Now that I've said it, passing the UPCAT relies not entirely on your own UPG (i.e. you are not automatically qualified if you have a high UPG). Rather, your UPG is ranked against other applicants' UPG. It means that you should do well in the UPCAT and pray that your UPG is not lagging behind other applicants' score.

Does it mean that there is like TOP 100 or like TOP 20%?

Not really. But each campus has it's UPG cut-off.

They have this system of ranking applicant's scores which will determine their admission in the University. You may want to check upcat.up.edu.ph about this.

    Good luck!

renz, ikaw na ang resident guide? haha

actually, aside from the UPG being ranked there are courses which take into account your scores for a certain subtest but i dont think anyone here knows exactly what scores they look at.

    THANKS! )

    2.2 is equivalent to?

sometimes, it is. for example, in Engineering, a student is required to be in a specific percentile of the Math and Science subtests.

binasa ko uli. getting into your preferred course pala. but, your course is irrelevant to passing UPCAT.

you may get into UP but not necessarily into your chosen course. and, i think even the CS courses require incoming freshmen to be in a specific percentile of Math and Science subtests.

usually ang term dun is "qualify" eh. Example you passed UPCAT, your UPG is, say, 2.0. Your first choice is IE then BAA, then most probably you wouldn't be qualified into your chosen program(since it's a quota course, and competition is high), unless there are still empty slots after the enrolment. Usually they will offer you another program commensurate to your academic results, e.g. Science did well then maybe they'll recommend you in CS, something like that.

Ahh, what courses do u think has the higher chance of getting to UPd?
    THANKS!

Hi! Ako po bagsakin sa mga subjects ko noong HS. 85 is already a high target for me; but that might be a different story. Pisay po kasi ako nag-HS.

Haha. Same here. I did not bothered inquiring for my UPG when I entered UP.

As for aljhayel, it's nice to know that you are really striving hard to enter the University. For the moment, I suggest that you stay focused on your acads and start preparing for the UPCAT, little by little (since 3rd year HS ka pa lang). Don't stress yourself too much. I know you can make it.
