Mapua East Building

In lieau of great demand of having additonal facilities in the Institute, Mapua will be having its East Building. The construction will start on the next few months.

Mapuans, ano sa tingin niyo ang pwedeng ilagay sa building na ito?

Ayon sa mga nariring ko, ito na rin ang simula ng pagiging GREEN (Sustainable) Campus ng Mapua

banda sa chapel ang alam ko. Pero meron ding nagsasabi na yung sa doghouse daw. Ayon sa mga naririnig ko, ilalagay daw ang chapel sa second floor ng bagong building at lalagyan ng cafeteria sa baba.

Ang katibayan na magkakaroon ng bagong gusali sa Mapua ay ang pagoconduct ngayon ng soil testing malapit sa Mapua entrance (yung may tabing)

As far as I know it's going to be situated to where the doghouse is currently located. I doubt if it's gonna be in where the chapel is... primarily because it's not in the "east'.

And... If it's really going to be built to where the chapel is, then such move is pathetically stupid. The chapel is one of Mapua campus' great [and classic, so to speak] sights. Removing it is like removing the classic Mapua.

That same comment echoes to every Mapuan lip I've talked with regarding Lyceum's campus expansion. Bad move, indeed, for the Administration not to get that piece of property.

With the plan of putting up the "East Building", I bet the Administration's regrets is heaven-high... or hell-low.

Well, both schools are rolling out with their [respective] plans so... let's just hope for the best for them... and for us.

makulitz: I think retrofitting is the best option because it's preserving the building which is what Lyceum is aiming to achieve.

Why? Because you cannot anymore built a building in Intramuros that is as high as Insular. There's this policy by the Intramuros admin not to admit any construction of a building with a certain height (I don't know exactly how high that should be) that's way below the height of Insular building.

So Lyceum made the SMARTEST move ever done in Muralla -- utilize the building to maximize its operations; hence, making more money. It could even make more money than what Yuchengco is getting now.

I really don't understand why the Mapua Admin, with all the millions of pesos they've earned straight from our parents pockets, didn't even think for the long-term of the school. We are aiming for a university status but our admin cannot even work for a SMART campus expansion?
And now they're lousily planning the East Building, which will destroy the beautiful view of the facade of our beloved school? What the heck is on their minds?..

Pakialaman na lang nila ang Makati campus. Baka maremedyuhan pa yun.
But please... not Intramuros. What's in there is enough!

I've read somewhere (from a poster within the school) that Mapua aims to reduce its buildings' carbon emissions. Green building ang pagkaka-alam kong itatayo diyan sa may doghouse. Constructing an environmentally-sound structure is a good move by the Adminstration.

Maganda din yung idea kung binili nalang nila yung insular tas lagay sila ng bridge na magdudugtong sa South Building at Insular. Pero magastos nga yung retrofitting.

kaya dapat ang ginawa na lang nila e binili yung Insular Building, hayy, may magagawa pa ba tayo? In a long run, we can be able to accept it.
