Proper age to go to school

Hey parents, I have a question, at what age should a toddler go to school?

What activities can you suggest for a 3 year old toddler with a yaya at home besides watching tv?

Most pre-schools start at age 3.
Playschools start as early as 1 1/2.

my son started school this year, he's four. i made him attend summer school muna as introduction, K-1 na siya agad at di n pinadaan ng nursery.

give him board books and lots of those educational videos, mas madali silang matuto dun at least kahit busy ka or si yaya pwedeng iwanan in front of the TV while your kid learns.

give yaya flash cards na din and if possible let the kid play outside with other kids para may interaction naman.

Make sure to limit the TV... despite educational vids and cartoons being well, instructional, they're generally still bad company...

Invest on educational toys, arts and craft materials, instruments

make sure din the yaya don't let the TV babysit for her... kasi if tamad din ang yaya, you can have a Logico system in your house pero wala pa ding mangyayari

I personally feel that it depends on your child's capability. Sometimes school is not the best option. Kung gifted siya hindi maganda sumabay sa (well not to put it offensively) less gifted. It can drag him down. In terms of his social skills being affected by that, nasa environment mo na yun. My opinion anyway.

Most genius children go to special schools. For those who cannot afford it teach their children themselves. Good bonding for parents and brain excercise for the parent because he/she'll need to keep up.

Then again, how many children are geniuses? Ako feeling ko baby ko gifted (mana sa nanay hindi ako hehehe)

    3-4 nursery
    4-5 kinder
    5-6 prep.

then off to grade school for 7 years.

    hi ildiavolo,

i think depende you on your decision. iba iba kasi ang decision ng parents. ako kasi my daughter started saling ketket school ng 2.6 years old, to supplement her therapy for speech delay. she's having a blast naman. natuto din siyang magsalita, madaldal na nga e.

i agree with delisyus. before kasi, the yaya let her watch tv all day long while the yaya does her chores kasi. kids tend to "space out" while watching tv so hindi rin nila masyadong naabsorb ang pinapanood nila.

i bought chalk and arts and crafts -- yung mga paints, watercolor, ganyan. medyo magulo lang ang sahig at dingding sa labas kasi naaliw si daughter kakasulat ng chalk. pero ok lang kasi you can wash it off naman. kids enjoy the messiness of paints and watercolor as well. madami sa national na kid friendly paints/watercolors.

    hope this helps!

    pa-share ako ha..

i am the kind of mom who doesn't like early education for kids.as in! but since i am working and attending school at the same time, parang nanghihinayang ako sa idle time ng anak ko.. just plainly playing and watching tv(although educational naman).. her tita jai (the nanny) is not the type na magtya-tyaga magturo sa kanya..

but she started going to school at 3. although i never liked the idea, but somehow it helped her gain confidence socializing. she hates men and hates being in a crowd full of strangers before she went into school.

now..there's a change of mind na.. mas ok naman pala early start ng school ang kid.. at age 4 she can read na..

plus.. dito sa manila mapa-public or private schools 3-4 years old ang age ng mga kids as nursery..

Hey all thanks for the feedback.

    Another set of questions:

How much do you usually spend for tuition fee at this age (3)?

What is the best time of the day the toddlers should go to school?

    first question,free here.
2nd,nagsimula mga anak ko very early, about 2/3 y.o.everyday for 2 hrs till they go to jr kinder at 4 y.o.

sa umaga ko sila pinapasok sa pre k para in preparation for real school.go to sleep early, get up early and get ready kaya ng time to go to real school, wala ng drama sa umaga.alam na nila ang system of going to school everyday.

tuition fee depends on the school...when my second child started in nursery (yr 2008 when he was 3yrs old), tuition was 30k (included na yung books, school materials and snacks for the whole sch yr). i enrolled him at immaculate conception here in cubao.

you will have to spend additional with the daily and PE uniforms.

Hello....these days..kids start school early...even at three yrs old...you can enrol them at a playschool. There are more advantages because the child learns a lot other than just socialization stuff and prepares them for formal schooling. If both parents are working and it is only the nanny who takes care, the playschool is the better option because of the variety of learnings the child can have. Not sure the level of the yaya's education and interest to let your child learn.

There are many educative tools for children that you can buy even inexpensive ones that will be beneficial to your child. Bookstores and kids' specialty shops would be a good source. Hope this helps.

if you or your wife stays at home, might as well homeschool your kid. its fun and keeps a strong bond within the family. save up the money you don't pay for school so that you have ample of it when they turn to grade school, high school and even college.
