‘I love Toni’

Rodriguez burst into tears when asked about the controversy involving Gonzaga. She said Gonzaga, her former “Entertainment Live” co-host, is one of her most treasured friends in show business.

Gonzaga had accused her of badmouthing her, an allegation she vehemently denied.

“Toni is my friend, I love Toni. Toni was like a sister to me. So, in everything that’s been said, gusto kong maalala ‘yong friendship namin,” said Rodriguez.

Though she opted not to elaborate the real cause of the rift, she wished she and Gonzaga would reconcile to save their friendship.

“It was a good friendship, we loved each other. Pinapahalagahan ko ang pagkakaibigan namin,” she added. “I know in my heart, wala akong kaibigang trinaydor.”

On Curtis, who got dragged into the Rodriguez-Gonzaga issue, meanwhile, Rodriguez maintained that they are "okay."

“I love Anne. Never kaming nagkaroon ng issue. Let’s not drag Anne into this. How come everyone? That’s my question. Why everyone? I don’t understand,” she tearfully said.

Actress-TV host Mariel Rodriguez broke her silence regarding her rift with Toni Gonzaga.

In an interview with Boy Abunda on ABS-CBN’s The Buzz, Mariel seemed confused on the issue and never clarified anything. “Some people asked me to comment I can’t I did not know. I don’t understand where it’s coming from. I don’t know so please huwag na lang tama na. I’m not doing anything.” she said. Rumor has it that Mariel allegedly called Toni “duling” (cross-eyed) behind the latter’s back. “I never said I was perfect but I know in my heart and I’m sure lahat ng naging kaibigan ko at mga kaibigan ko na wala akong kaibigan na trinaydor, I’ve been a good friend.” said Mariel.

Mariel Rodriguez on Rift With Toni Gonzaga: ‘I’m Not Doing Anything’

MANILA, Philippines - More than her much-criticized wedding to Robin Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez admitted through words—and lots of tears—that she is still hurting over her rift with Toni Gonzaga.

“I really, really… don’t understand. I don’t know. It was hard. So many people [are] asking me to comment. How can I comment, I did not know! I don’t understand where it’s coming from. I don’t know… I’m not doing anything…” said Mariel on “The Buzz” on Sept. 26 where she opened up about the issue for the first time.

Toni had previously confessed feeling hurt because of her rift with Mariel, which is said to have sprung from a number of remarks the latter allegedly made behind her back. Toni, however, refused to reveal exactly what Mariel supposedly did to her.

Mariel pleaded with rumormongers and detractors to stop fueling the issue because “pinapahalagahan ko ang mga kaibigan ko.”

“Toni is my friend… I love Toni. So with everything that’s been said, gusto kong maalala ‘yung friendship namin ni Toni... For how it was. It was a good friendship. We loved each other.

“So please wag na lang… tama na. Tama na,” the TV host-actress said, with tears flooding her face.

Although Mariel acknowledges that she’s not a perfect friend, she maintained that she never betrayed any of her friends.

“I’m going to speak in general, not just about Toni. Me as a friend… marunong akong mag-value ng kaibigan. Kung meron mang pagkakataon na meron akong kaibigan na nasaktan, marunong akong tumanggap ng pagkatalo dahil mali ako. I can apologize. Kapag alam ko na mali ako, I can apologize right away.

“I never said I was perfect. I know in my heart and I’m sure lahat ng mga naging kaibigan ko at mga kaibigan ko alam nila na ni minsan wala akong kaibigan na tinraydor. I’ve been a good friend,” she said.

It is not clear, however, from Mariel’s interview (regarding her tiff with Toni) if she is sorry she has had a falling out with someone she considers one of her sisters in showbiz; or if she is open for reconciliation with Toni.

When “Buzz” host and Mariel’s manager Boy Abunda asked her for her message to Toni, Mariel tearfully said: “I’m very emotional about that kasi mahirap na may ganito na nangyayari sa mga magkakaibaigan. Toni was like a sister to me. I’m still hurting.”

Mariel also said it would be the last time she would speak on the issue.

Coincidentally, Toni was not present during the Sept. 26 “Buzz” episode. According to Boy, she was not feeling well.

Mariel also addressed the rumors setting her against some of her fellow Kapamilya stars, such as KC Concepcion, Anne Curtis and Luis Manzano.

Rumors alleged that Mariel not only badmouthed Toni but also KC Concepcion. Mariel reportedly complained why KC would have her own show (“Simply KC”) before her, when she (Mariel) was better at hosting.

“I have no issue with KC at all,” was Mariel’s contention on the issue.

“I was so surprised [when I heard about it]. Parang natatandaan ko ako pa nga ‘yung unang-unang nag-guest sa ‘Simply KC.’ Natatandaan ko na tuwing maganda siya sa ‘The Buzz’ lagi ko pa siyang pinupuri. Bakit nilalagyan ng mga tao ng masasamang… I don’t know what the issue is still eh. I don’t know… I really don’t know. I have no issue at all with KC,” she said.

When the rumor was brought up to KC at a recent press conference, the 25 year-old singer-host-actress evaded a straight answer and simply thanked the supporters of her morning show.

Mariel believes that she didn’t do or say anything negative against KC. “I even remember saying na ang galing niya, [kasi] siya ang unang nakapansin nito (her engagement ring) at nag-[bring-up] sa TV (interview on ‘The Buzz’ July 18).”

The controversial TV host said she has high regard for the Mega-daughter, and thanked her “kasi never siya sa’kin nagpakita ng kahit anong masama.“

Meanwhile, Mariel is said to have a rift with “Showtime” host Anne Curtis as well because the latter has reportedly told Toni about the alleged negative comments Mariel has supposedly made against Toni.

“I was just texting Anne the other day. Yeah. I love Anne. Never kami ni Anne nagka-issue. Let’s not drag Anne into this,” Mariel said. Turning more emotional, she added, “How come everyone… that’s my question, why everyone? I don’t understand.”

Mariel was also clueless as to the allegations that she was not in good terms with Luis Manzano. According to reports, Mariel carped to Robin about Luis’ alleged desire to kiss her. Robin supposedly became incensed that he confronted Luis about it.

“What? I don’t even know that... No… I have no idea,” said she.

While fans wait for her return to “Pilipinas Win na Win,” Mariel was rumored to be transferring to one of ABS-CBN’s rival stations, TV5. She is said to have sent a text message to her “Wowowee” co-host Willie Revillame that in case he needs her for his upcoming variety show in the Kapatid network, she is ready.

Mariel maintained that there is no truth to such rumors.

“They said that I… Apparently I sent a message to Kuya Willie. Unfortunately I think Kuya changed his number. The last time I sent a text message to Kuya was before ‘[Pilipinas] Win na Win’ started. Ako’y nagpasalamat para sa ‘Wowowee.’ Kumbaga kinukuha ko ‘yung blessing niya… bigay-respeto na nagsisimula kami ng bagong noontime show,” Mariel recalled.

Willie, however, did not respond to her message. “But that’s okay,” she quickly added.

Mariel said the last time she exchanged text messages with him was last Father’s Day.

“He said that he was proud of me. And na-touch ako do’n. Thank you.”

NAPANSIN N’YO BA kahapon ang The Buzz? Parang kulang… teka, uulitin ko… parang kulang na kulang. Dalawang hosts kasi ng show ang ‘di sumipot – sina Toni Gonzaga at KC Concepcion.

Ang nasagap namin sa mga usap-usapan, tila nagkaisa raw sina Toni at KC na um-absent sa showbiz talk show, dahil knows nga raw nila na pag-uusapan ang isyu nila kay Mariel Rodriguez.

Ang pasabi raw ni Toni, may sakit siya. Pero ‘di raw totoo ‘yun. Ayon sa usap-usapan, sinadya raw ng actress-host na ‘di sumipot. Bagama’t wala namang lumalabas na dahilan ng pag-absent si KC sa mga usap-usapan, sinadya na lang din ng dalaga ni Sharon Cuneta na ‘di sumipot sa show. Eh, ‘di ba nga, may issue rin si KC sa ‘backbiting’ umano ni Mariel?

Ayaw lang siguro nina Toni at KC na maipit si Kuya Boy sa alanganing situwasyon, at dumating na sa point na mamili ang host ng kakampihan. Kaya siguro, iwas-pusoy na lang muna sila.

“Nagpapasalamat ako na naging mainit ang pagtanggap ng tao sa bagong proyekto
namin ni Vhong kasama sina Melai at Jason. Kumbaga, bata pa lang yung mga
characters sa kuwento pero maganda na ang feedback,” sabi ng ultimate multimedia star na si Toni. “Mas lalo pa nila dapat paka-abangan yung present story namin kasi dun pa lang magsisimula yung mahabang adventures namin with Kokey.”

Maging ang real-life sweethearts na si Jason at Melai ay nag-uumapaw sa tuwa sa matagumpay na pilot week ng kanilang pinakaunang primetime soap sa Kapamilya Network.

“I'm so very happy na pinapalabas na ang ‘Kokey@Ako.’ Marami ang nakapagsabi sa
akin na over over sa ganda ang character ni Josa. Kung na-enjoy nila si Josa nung bata, abangan nila ang pagdadalaga niya dahil mas marami pa siyang mga drama at hindi sinasadyang komedya sa buhay,” sabi ni Melai.

Talaga namang nakatutok na nga ang sambayanan at nasasabik na sa mas kwelang mga kaganapang matutunghayan sa paglaki ng mga karakter nina Bruce, Jackie, at Josa. Muli nga kayang magkakaharap sina Jackie at Kokey ? Mahanap na kaya ng dalaga ang kaniyang mga magulang? Natuloy nga kaya ang childhood romance nina Jackie at Bruce at nagkatuluyan nga ba sila sa kanilang paglaki?

Lahat ng iyan matutunghayan sa pinakabagong fantaseryeng kinababaliwan ng sambayanan, ang “Kokey@Ako,” bago ang TV Patrol World sa ABS-CBN.
