when is the opening of the uaap volleyball nga pala?
taena, can't wait to see fille back in harness again. and as well as den den.
seriously, while i am thinking that UAAP volleyball is slowly but surely gaining in terms of popularity, it would be too much of a gamble if we are to hold the big volleyball games at the Araneta Coliseum, hence it would might still be more sound to hold them in a relatively big venue (10,000 maximum seating capacity) like ULTRA. however, the good thing about the Araneta Coliseum as a venue is its proximity to transportation facilities (MRT, LRT-2, PUV terminals) and, in case of car owners, ample parking spaces, thanks to its strategic location the heart of Cubao- things that are somewhat absent in other venues such as ULTRA (complaints about lack of parking spaces; not so commuter-friendly) and The Arena in San Juan (commuter-friendly but lacked enough parking spaces).
No, it's not. Maybe UAAP should try ULTRA first before trying Araneta although it's good. Maybe the FINALS or why just not move the CHEERDANCE COMPETITION and make it side event for VOLLEYBALL instead of BASKETBALL.
As for V-League, ARANETA will really prohibit to play it there because of corporate conflict of interest. For your information, ARANETA owns the Philippine franchise of PIZZA HUT. The V-LEAGUE is sponsored by SHAKEY'S, one of the fiercest rival of PIZZA HUT in the Philippines.
The Arena is still the best venue for volleyball. The fans just love the "closeness" to the players on court, unlike in basketball where it's kind of hard to look for the players' dugout to have your photos taken (in case of Araneta/Ultra).
Besides, hindi pa naman mapupuno ang Arena nang ganun-ganun lang, may weekdays ang UAAP volleyball, not all can watch because of work and school. Even on weekends hindi din naman ganun kapuno even if it's ADMU-DLSU, ADMU-UST, ADMU-FEU, UST-FEU, UST-DLSU, and DLSU-FEU (might as well add AdU-FEU, haha).
Dapat sobrang mapuno muna ang Arena before UAAP volley/V-League moves to a larger venue.
fast forward to 2012 and, yes, they are now planning to hold the men's and women's volleyball semifinals and finals at the Araneta Coliseum.
a post from DLSU Women's Volleyball team's page:
UAAP Volleyball Semis & Finals Ticket Prices at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum: Patron- 250, Lower Box- 200, Upper A- 150, Upper B- 100, Gen Ad- 50.
question: saan makakabili ng ticket? i checked ticketnet, and there's no information about it.![]()
JOKE!![]()
if the championship will be between any of Ateneo-Lasalle-UST, the Arena wont be large enough, so Araneta should be the logical alternative. however, i doubt if UAAP volleyball fans would be able to fill Araneta, so most likely only patron, ringside, lowerbox, upper a and a small part of upper b would be occupied. with a few students in the bleachers doing stuff not in anyway related to volleyball. haha
in anycase this is still a BIG STEP UP from previous seasons, shows how interest in the sport has grown in just a few short years. Good Job to this years Hosts and UAAP Board for supporting volleyball and recognizing the hardwork players put in to bring glory to their respective universities.
