UPDATE: Actress Kaya Scodelario has not read script for 'The Hunger Games' movie
It seems earlier reports that actress Kaya Scodelario has read a script for The Hunger Games movie are not true.
Initially, it appeared that Scodelario tweeted that she was reading the screenplay and the story appeared on numerous websites (including here at Examiner.com).
But organizers from The Hunger Games Alliance say they contacted her manager, who shut down the story as false:
Despite what may have been suggested, Kaya has not yet been given a hard copy of a script for THE HUNGER GAMES nor has she read one. There has been a suggestion that she would read one if the producers felt that they were interested in her. As of yet, this has not happened.
Kaya and her team are all very grateful to the fans of THE HUNGER GAMES who have considered her as a potential actress to take on the role of Katniss. It is obviously going to be an incredibly exciting project whoever ends up playing the central roles.
Kaya receives many scripts on a weekly basis and I am sure she was referring to one of those or may have thought that one was THE HUNGER GAMES.
However, it does appear that Nikita actress Lyndsy Fonseca is reading the script. No word on who else is taking a look at the script, or when casting will officially begin.

Jodelle Ferland is a 'Hunger Games' fan first, but would love a role in the film
Casting and other pre-production work on The Hunger Games movie has been kept fairly hush-hush so far, but that hasn't stopped fans from openly discussing their thoughts on the film and who should play the key roles. And with The Hunger Games, the best-selling trilogy by Suzanne Collins, there is one character in particular who fans are anxious to see cast. Of course, that character is Katniss Everdeen -- the heroine of the series and the narrator of all three books.
While fans may be divided over who should get the coveted role, one thing is for certain: actress Jodelle Ferland just wants to see a brilliant film, whether she's part of it or not. That's because when it comes to The Hunger Games, Ferland tends to see herself as a fan first, and a contender for the role second.
At age 16, Ferland would be a good fit for the role -- and certainly fans and entertainment websites have suggested her for the role. But she's not letting all that buzz -- or the negative attention that comes with it at times -- get to her. In fact, when faced with criticism for her interest in the role, Ferland responds smartly and politely for anyone (nonetheless someone so young).
Ferland recently agreed to a one-on-one interview with The Hunger Games Examiner to talk about The Hunger Games, why she's a fan and her hopes for the franchise's move to the big screen. Here is part one of that interview:
The Hunger Games Examiner: How did you first discover The Hunger Games? What about the books do you love so much?
Jodelle Ferland: I saw an article about who should play Katniss, and I'd never heard of the books before, so I looked them up. The storyline seemed interesting and I really wanted to read them, but I didn't think about it again until I was at the Eclipse premiere and a fan said, "Would you like to play Katniss?" When I was at the airport waiting for my flight home, I found a bookstore and bought the first book. I finished it by the end of the day. It was AMAZING, I absolutely fell in love with it. I really enjoy books with a lot of action and suspense, and The Hunger Games definitely has a lot of that. Of course, there's the romantic aspect as well, which kept me dying to know who Katniss would choose and constantly trying to figure out if I like Gale or Peeta better. But there's not so much of it that you're thinking, really, she's only 16, this is ridiculous. After I read The Hunger Games, I went out and got Catching Fire the next day. It was just as fabulous as the first book, if not more. Waiting for Mockingjay to come out was terrible, but completely worth it. Overall, this is one of my favourite series of books I've ever read.
THGE: As you know lots of fans have suggested you as a possible actress to play Katniss. But who would YOU pick for the role (besides yourself, of course)?
JF: Hmmthats a really tough one. Its hard to think of people who fit the part.
A lot of actresses would do a great job, but theyre either too old, too young, or dont have a Katniss look about them. I know a lot of people wanted Kaya Scoldelario, but in my opinion, since shes already 18, shes a bit too old for the part. Whoever they get, I really hope they dont get someone whos in their 20s. Katniss is 16, and they should try to get someone at least close to that age. If they cant get a well known actress who fits the part, then an unknown will probably be the best way to go.
THGE: When I sent out a Tweet asking for interview questions, I got lots of great responses. But there were some critical Hunger Games fans out there. Some said they didnt think youd be good for the role of Katniss. Others said No one from Twilight should be in The Hunger Games, so no Jodelle. What would you say to these critics?
JF: I understand where theyre coming from. A lot of people like Twilight, but some people dont, and understandably, Hunger Games fans dont want to mix the two. Im not trying to say Twilight wasnt good (that would be weird, since I was in it!), but I dont think they should be compared. When people say Could The Hunger Games be the next Twilight? they dont mean the the movie itself, only the the amount of success its had. So yes, I was in Twilight, but I would like to remind everyone that its not the only movie Ive done. Ive been acting since I was two years old, and Eclipse in no way defines me or my acting abilities. To be honest, my part wasnt even that huge, and I was only in one of the movies. If I played Bella or something, then obviously, having me be the star of the Hunger Games movie would be a bad idea. But I dont think its fair for people to judge me by that one movie. I completely understand that they want this movie to be perfect, but Id like to ask them to please at least consider that I might do a good job. I would love for the fans to give me a chance.
THGE: Besides Katniss, could you see yourself playing any other roles in The Hunger Games? Which ones?
JF: Well, there are only a few options. Iturned 16 years old on October 9th. I have light-ish skin and dark brown hair. Theres Madgeshes blonde, so I probably cant play her. Theres Rue, whos a small 12 year old with really dark skin and hairso no. And then theres Prim, whos also 12, tiny, and blonde, so not her either. I cant really think of anyone else, at least not anyone who has a reasonably important part. I know a few people are suggesting me for Prim or Rue, but that doesnt really make sense to me. Even if I had the right skin and hair, Im too old for those parts. I dont see myself pulling off anyone but Katniss, but if you think of another character I could play, please let me know! Id like to hear what you guys think.
THGE: This question comes from @kimmymary (who runs the Hunger Games website mockingjay.net) on Twitter: Are you planning on auditioning?
JF: If given the chance, I wouldnt miss it for the world! That would be an absolutely amazing opportunity for me and I really hope it will happen.

=====================
tl;dr :/ i just don't want her *kanye shrug*
Sana si Quentin Tarantino ang maging director nito.
I see Jodelle Ferland as Rue if the movie is to be released next year. So innocent on the outside yet fierce inside.
I am yet to read CATCHING FIRE.![]()
wow meron palang thread nito dito lol.
i haven't read the books yet though but have heard that the fans of the book would like Kristin Chenoweth to play Effie. so cool! she said that she would like to play her.awesome!!! hopefully the producers will indeed consider her for the part since the Wicked producers deem her and Idina "too old" to play the roles they originated in the movie version of the successful show. (seriously Kristin old? she looks younger than me! xD)
Jusko halos 2 years pa! No new casting updates? Or nagsimula na ba talaga ang casting?
Lyndsy Fonseca!!! THIS!!!
I know this thread exist but hesitant to have a peek baka may spoilers since I'm still half way through Catching Fire. But thank God wala pala!
Everytime I read Katniss' name I have Lyndsy's face in my mind. Pero, she's too old to play the role.Casting her will also be a good thing, because that way they'll have all the reason to also cast Hunter Parrish (which is kinda oldie too).
Watch Nikita guys! You'll see Katniss sa katawan ni Lyndsy.![]()
