ha! the west is failing. It used to be Latin as the language of commerce, barbarian pa nga ang di marunong magsalita. Then Spanish, then french, then english, now, there are more mandarin speaking people in the world than in any language. And a mandarin-speaking country is now emerging as the next economic superpower.

pero mukhang too late na nga, i can't even read a history book written in Filipino. Kung ibabalik siya as medium of instruction, kelangan ng matinding initiative and i don't see any administration in the near future na gagawa ng initiative na yun. Wala tayong choice kundi magtuloy-tuloy sa ating half-baked educational system

why settle for half baked? kaya nga di dapat mag dub sa tagalog para di maging half baked,kailangan english lahat maging sa schools wala ng tagalog para walang half baked

Kung cartoons ang usapan, mas maiintindihan ng bata ang cartoons kung tagalog, mas maraming viewers, ganon kasimple. I'd rather have that the kids understand the message of what their watching than have an early exposure with the English language

and your point for the argument against tagalized cartoons is because it is detrimental to the children's english proficiency Sabihin ko kayang english obsession is detrimental to our Filipino proficiency which is the actual case naman.

I'd choose English proficiency over tagalog proficiency anyday.
With English, i can communicate with citizens of 200+ countries and territories.

We're doing an undergrad thesis with the topic of "Effects of Tagalized Cartoons on Children Nowadays"
This forum is really a big help. But we still need Academic literature for resources. May mai-su-suggest po ba kayong mga RELATED STUDIES for our topic? Anything. Dapat nga ay hindi na nila idub sa Tagalog itong English cartoons. We have to admit English to be an international language na malaki ang advantage ng isang tao pag bihasa siya dito. Yung Tagalog ay hindi naman dapat na kalimutan, yung ayos na ang isang subject for this. Malaki kasi ang advantage ng English especially ngayon na may mga call centers.

Fuck using the "masa" as an example...back in the good ol' Marcos days, there were no Tagalized cartoons on free TV to ruin my English proficiency. These days it's all about pandering to those "masa" just to shove more soap and shampoo commercials down their throat (what would young kids want to do with shampoo, ferchrissakes?). Make them stupid so that they cannot improve their miserable lot by mastering the English language - so that the well-bred likes of Georgina Wilson and Solenn Heussaff can awe them with their beauty and gift of (English) gab
