hmmmm.. sensya na kung off topic, how come di kagandahan (at di mukhang ganun ka user friendly) yung official site natin dito sa Pinas (yung sa wow philippines po ang tinutukoy)? or meron bang ibang official website for that? Marami namang Pinoy ang may mga magaganda talagang blogs, etc (that just goes to show that we're not lacking in creativity/ skill)

kasi, marami akong nakakasalamuha na mahilig magtanong ng "anong pwedeng gawin sa Pinas" tapos wala akong maibigay na (official) link na okay talaga unlike HK's discoverhk

Rizal Park during the 70's was grand. Folk Arts Theater, PICC, Manila Hotel were all proud, world-class institutions.

yung Jai Alai bldg dapat na preserve yung colonial-era structure na yun.

    dunno what's left of Manila.

It was a building where Jai Alai games were held and gambled on. It was located on the other side of Taft on the vicinity of Luneta. It was a hot topic back in the 90's (if i remember right) when the Manila city government wanted to demolish it but several preservation people wanted to well preserve it as is the trend in other countries nowadays.

I personally am glad it was destroyed. I really can't find exciting the game which is supposed to be a thousand thrills and Im not into gambling. We are far from perfecting preservation. Look at the Metropolitan theater. It survived being taken down but whenever I see it I just saddened because I am just reminded of Manila's glory days when it was far ahead of the neighboring countries. Now the met is just rotting and sometimes tambayan ng addicts and snatchers.

maganda lists pero malalayo ang distansya sa isa't isa. sa akin lang, pag off ako i try to be a tourist here in manila.

i think Manila is best appreciated kapag gabi. For its shopping and nightlife (entertainment). Bars, restaurants, casinos, spas, shops...

Among Manila's tourist spots for me.

    1. Intramuros -> should be marketed as the Bukchon Village of Seoul wherein it exhibits traditional structures and buildings.

    Inside Intramuros:
    a. Fort Santiago
    b. Manila Cathedral
    c. San Agustin Church and Museum and Casa Manila

    2. Manila Ocean park -> Most Asian cities I've been to, there's always an aquarium park as their tourist spots (Seoul - CoEx, Aquaria in KLCC Kuala Lumpur and Sentosa Aquarium in Singapore). Philippines I believe can offer to exhibit a more interesting display given the tropical weather and abundance of different local marine species.

    3. Rizal Park -> This park should be one of the "must visit" for the tourists due to its significance on our history. But isnt it too dugyot and too dangerous for the tourists to stroll freely on their own. Handful of beggars, holduppers and hookers are scattered around the area and might bring negative impression to the visitors. I hope the local government should do something about this.

    4. Mall of Asia -> A huge shopping mall, but nothing else is special about it. Prices are not too bargain as well. Special events occur here like Pyrolympics attracts many locals. But since it houses a skating rink, that has become rare to us, and skating rink is become an attraction everywhere (NY-Rockefeller Center, Seoul-Coex). I hope mag add ng attractions along the bay area similar to Avenue of the Stars in HK.

    5. China Town -> I dont exactly know where to bring a tourist in this part of the city, this place is a little too dangerous And that Manila ChinaTown doest offer too pleasant scene, just old 70s building with chinese signboards.

I'll probably just bring them on some fancy Chinese restos and a few chinese temples..

    6. And just outisde Manila, Tagaytay. Great ambiance and a taste of nature for our dear tourists. Away from the hustles and bustles of noisy Manila. I hope every tourist guide include this to their itinerary for their touring guests.

Manila Zoo and others I believe are too dugyot to bring the tourists in.

Others are too mediocre or boring to become flagship tourist spots. (Compared to the level of what other major asian cities offer). Sorry to sound inferior, but this is reality. Our transporation system and infrastructure (train and bus sytems) are not DIY-tourist friendly.

    Other potential tourist spots:

    1. Malacanang Palace - why not open a portion of it as tourist spot. A few activities like change of guard ceremonies may do as to attract the interest of the public.

    2. Revive a "Wow Philippines"-like activities within Intramuros, to
transform this walled cities into a Nostalgic town theme park at night similar to that of the former Nayong Pilipino. Where guardia civils walking by as the locals wear traditional dresses and the whole environment reminds us of the hispanic era philippines. I miss those Wow! days at Intramuros during the early 2000s.

    3. Ayala Triangle - I hope they transform it as our version of "Central park of New York"

    4. Resorts World Manila - although its nothing compared to Macau casinos.. I hope they'll add different shows and exhibitions just like in City of Dreams (Virtual Aquarium) and Wynn (Golden tree of life) or The Venetian (The Grand Canal) in Macau.

I heard with the rise of future Casinos here, we are going to challenge daw Macau as the Vegas of the East... but honestly, we've got a long way to go... its been announced many years ago, but i dont see a single development on this.
