Metal. I saw some workers banging on it and it made a distinct clanging sound.

Yeah. Those people can't even accept change. This building is probably (if not one of the most beautiful) the most beautiful acad building in the Philippines (the world even) and they're too busy sniveling over the old football field to see it. I understand that the old football field has a lot of memories but we're facing forward now, and it's time to move on.
    I AGREE!

DLSU's brand new P 300 MILLION HENRY SY SR. CENTENNIAL HALL is a FITTING TRIBUTE by DE LA SALLE's GREAT ALUMNI & BENEFACTORS (Tycoon Henry Sy Sr. & his FOUR SONS who are PROUD LA SALLE ALUMNI) to their GREEN AND WHITE ALMA MATER.

It will be officially be blessed on June 15, 2012.

As for the OLD DE LA SALLE FOOTBALL FIELD - La Salle will DEFINITELY BUILD A GRAND STATE-OF-THE ART FOOTBALL FIELD inside its 51-Hectare CAMPUS in Canlubang. For the meantime, De La Salle's FOOTBALL FIELD is the historic RIZAL MEMORIAL FOOTBALL FIELD at the back of La Salle which DE LA SALLE renovated in 2010 - without any government help - at a cost of P 8 MILLION PESOS.

The country should THANK De La Salle University Manila for RENOVATING the RIZAL MEMORIAL FOOTBALL STADIUM - since now ALL PHILIPPINE FOOTBALL FANS including the AZKALS are now able to use it.

Pls. recall that in 2010, the AZKALS even had to FORFEIT a home-field game with INDONESIA during the 2010 Suzuki Cup for lack of a SUITABLE FIFA-approved FOOTBALL PITCH.

AFAIK, 1B Php ang SM La Salle. Parang ang unrealistic naman ng 300M.

php 300 million ... was the initial money that henry sy. sr. gave to la salle to start off the project. it's not just worth php 300 million.

  5. #845
Henry Sy isn't the only donor. He was just the one who donated the most money hence the building was named Sy Hall.

At least the old football field did not die in vain. Before, DLSU has no in-campus venues to hold press conferences, expos and events. Yeah I agree with DLSU's decision to build a building over the football field but I'm expecting a more favorable MOA with RMC that would allow DLSU students to use the fields free of charge.

Aaaand I'm back, people! *kaway kaway sa fans!*

Anyway, I was about to post those pictures but Gooner sniped me. xD Anyway, the gap between the glass and the actual floor is huge. I saw a guy mounting glass panels into the empty spots and he fit into the gap while standing on the struts connecting the glass to the concrete. As an update, cooling units have been installed on the top of the bridgeway, with some in standby inside the sixth floor. A scaffold has been installed at the bottom of the bridgeway, most likely to install the stuff underneath the floor. Springwood at the 7th floor already has its ceiling installed (they're apparently prioritizing the rooms with double-height ceilings), as well as most of the third floor. Firefighting equipment such as pumps, as well as the generator equipment have been already installed on the third floor and on a mezzanine near Zaide, respectively. The SM Circle has been surrounded by grass, as shown in the pic, and the current work on the grounds mostly involve the preparation for June 15 and the other finishing touches to the HS grounds. I can't say anything about the installation of the curvy chorva at the front, but it looks like they're done, and they'll most likely install the curvy chorva at the back next week or next next week.

4 years ago, that area used to be a football field wherein half of my blockmates played football for FWTEAMS.

2 years ago, building and construction materials were being laid and put into place.

now, after seeing the pictures posted by trigger, all i can say is....WOW! Amazing!

We were one of the last people to play FWTEAMS at the football field. As in after ng term na yun they closed off the football field.

^ IDK if we should be happy that we were the last batch to see the football field and get to experience SM hall, or if we should be sad that we saw the field at its last, only to give birth to this giant, blue Allspark. lol.

Minsan naiisip ko kung nacocompromise yung safety ng building dahil nabibilisan ako sa kanila. Tapos yung columns sa meadow parang hindi kakayanin kapag nagkaearthquake.

No matter how fast our Filipino construction companies work sa pag build ng infrastructures, we are still left behind by progressive and first world countries lalo na ng UAE wherein pag sila ang gagawa niyan, im sure they'll be able to finish it in less than 2 years. So i guess di pa din naco-compromise yung safety ng infrastructures natin because mabagal pa yan as compared sa dapat na pace ng pag build ng isang infrastructure. :-) And not to mention, Lasallista pa yung contractor. ;-)

  17. #857
Haha malalim naman ang foundation niyan kaya ok lang. Tsaka bakal yan I'm sure the building is a lot stronger than most mid-up condos you see rising around Metro Manila.

what do you think? i think it's a good-looking design, they just have to fix their paragraphs, and the lower right corner, because it's spoiling over to the border.
