was able to talk to my dad earlier...on the phone...sa pinas...while i am here in the us...

among others...was able to talk to him about lotto and willing willie...

to my surprise...he told me that him and my mom...together with their alalay/driver were in the area where willie went for his hearing...in makati...considering nasa quezon city kami...

i was more disturbed than happy...when i found this out...

why would my family be there...

i asked him if they were supporting willie hence their appearance...

parang nagkataon lang ata that they were in the area...

    dami raw tao...

pero hindi ako natuwa na nandoon sila...if it was all about just supporting this stuff...i felt my dad and mom were quite busy...in fact busy with their businesses sa pinas...just to be in that area where it can cause melee or even stampede...

“Willie was not the only one who put the show together…

    Dear Sir:

I represent the minority consisting of people who still want to have ethics and morality in television. I am very disgusted with the fact that your station has decided to hire a certain Willie Revillame, a man whose past has shown that he is not exactly a role model for decency, good manners and right conduct on national television.

How many times has he been suspended or reprimanded by either the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) or his former network for uttering vulgar language or committing acts that tend to offend the sensibilities of the audience? Of course, they say everyone deserves a second chance but this man has had more than his second, third and even fourth or fifth chance to reform.

There is also the specter of the stampede that killed over 70 fans. While managing to escape from any criminal or civil charges, the fact remains that as the host he played a big role similar to the Pied Piper of Hamelin, enticing the fans to come over to their untimely deaths.

Who will ever forget his gross disrespect of the funeral of the late President Corazon C. Aquino? An on-line petition to have him fired generated over 100,000 signatures. A small figure yes but these people represent the educated sector with disposable income who may patronize the shows sponsors and are the decision-makers in business and society. Perhaps you can order your executives to do an honest survey of public opinion on this character. Just look at the different on-line social networking forums on the internet to see how the antis outnumber the pros. Well, his bosses stood by him only to realize later on that they were wrong in doing so.

His parting with his previous employer was not on the best of terms, displaying his lack of gratitude to the company that supported despite all his pitfalls and gave him the millions he is enjoying. Apparently, his previous employer was raising a snake right in their own backyard and it bit them back hard. Do you want to see the day when he will publicly challenge the authority of management again? A monkey, even if you dress him up in the most expensive designer clothes and jewelry is at the end of the day still a monkey.

Do you want your company to be associated with a man whose personal life has become so scandalous that it has triggered the public to react? Two failed marriages plus several sexual harassment and acts of lasciviousness cases are just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. Although some of these cases have either been dismissed or amicably settled, the mere fact that he was slapped with such cases speaks volumes.

He acts like he owns the network. Observe how he embarrasses his co-hosts and production staff on camera. While this should remain an internal matter, the fact that he does it on air leaves a very bad taste in the mouth to the public.

Right now, your network must be enjoying the millions of pesos coming in from sponsors. That is only temporary. Do not wait for the day the viewers will get fed up with his antics and stage a boycott until these sponsors withdraw. These profits will be meaningless if the public has a bad perception of your network.

Where is the social responsibility of the network? It is given that majority of the viewers watch that program not for entertainment but as a means to secure alms or dole outs. What happened to the Anti-Mendicancy Law? It seems the program is teaching the Filipinos to be lazy and just rely on charity.

Such a waste for around 12 hours of airtime every week that could have been better utilized to air educational programs, documentaries, talk shows or even the games of our national athletes that could uplift the people instead of insulting their intelligence while trading their dignity and humanity in exchange for a few thousand pesos. That amount of money should be enough to carry them through the next month and when the well dries up, they line-up again hoping to be a contestant ready to be ridiculed by the host and his inflated ego – such a vicious cycle indeed. However, I still believe majority of Filipinos are not stupid and now good from bad. Hopefully, more will join this quixotic quest to promote reforms in local television.

Sir, I believe you are a man of morals having received good Catholic education from the priests at San Beda College and Ateneo de Manila University and this will hopefully guide you to the right decision. If the network really wants to help the poor, you don’t need a prime time show to do that.

Let me close by quoting Matthew 6:1-4 about giving to the needy – Be careful not to do your “acts of righteousness” before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

    Sincerely yours,

    ANTHONY E. SERVINIO

    nice question...

well...siguro i think many of the non- supporters and sobrang galit kay willie ....are actually probably what we call ....self righteous...

almost like the pharisees...very intolerant ...ready for the kill...if need be...ready to show indignation because of their moralistic stand...

tapos tayo naman siguro...who see beyond willie's constant mischiefs and errors...we see the person as human...just you and me...who will easily fall in our mistakes...and yet we appreciate the constant...and always necessary...determination to help ourselves...in making ourselves better...

siguro yon ang pinagkaiba natin sa kanila...they don't see the "humaness" of it all...talagang ipapakita nila ang galit...ipapakita...na sila ay magaling...at ready to hurt anyone...if only even to show...that they are always on the good side of things...

and tayo...we also see the good side of things...but yet...we also appreciate the person's OWN CONSTANT STRUGGLE...in even trying to make things work...we may be angry as someone fails...and yet we clap for the same person if he makes that move of...dusting himself clean...and then try again to stand up..

kaya maski sa pbb...i go for that person who is not squeaky clean...gusto ko yung mga nagpakita kung sino ang totoong sila...and ipinakita ang struggles niya regarding his faults and errors...like baron or wendy...

    i applaud them...

but many of us will just stone them to death figuratively...
