    Atheists/Agnostics in DLSU

I'm sure there are atheists/agnostics/generally-nonreligious-students in DLSU but I'm curious about the number. During my four years in DLSU, I don't think I've encountered very many. I'm also curious about the experience of an atheist in a Catholic school. For me, it hasn't been all that difficult. I'm an engineering major so the topic of God doesn't really come up too often and even the religion subjects are very friendly to all beliefs (or lack of any).

Lakas. Haha

Agnostic here. It hasn't been difficult either, although it may be because I'm not explicit about my beliefs during TRED or lack thereof. Plus, I'm a science major, so spirituality isn't discussed in my subjects.

Despite that, there are surprisingly few nonbelievers in COS.

Agnostic here. I was from C.L.A. and it wasn't a problem. I respected others' beliefs and also got the same respect. One time, I was asked by a professor to lead the prayer. I said "I don't pray" and the whole class heard it. Some didn't expect that, I thought (they asked me why). I'm a petite female (a little girly) who is participative in class. I probably defied the image of an agnostic/atheist person in their minds.

Hello, fellow nonbelievers! I'm pleasantly surprised at the amount of responses. I kind of wish we had some kind of organization for nonbelievers. I hear they have one of those in UP. I wonder if they'd allow it in DLSU...

Sounds like we've had the same experience. COE also seems to have few nonbelievers.

I used to go along with the praying when I was still a frosh. I even led the prayer on occasion. I guess I didn't want to make a scene by refusing. By sophomore year though, I just didn't care anymore. I refused to lead prayers from then on. It's quite liberating, actually.

Marami sobra baka hindi mo lang natatanong. Yung iba kasi sinasabi catholic pero by name lang in essence agnostic.

Tska, more often than not, most people na magtatanong eh hindi rin maiintindihan.

I'm non-religious. When my blockmates pray, I just play along. I don't do the sign off the cross anymore.

I was initiated into this thing because of Intfilo. I love Sartre! I adore him so much I want one of his quotes etched permanently on my left shoulder.

Question, guys. Naiisip n'yo ba yung future n'yo?

Tapos kung papalakihin sila in an agnostic way, di kaya sila i-condemn sa school?

Pati sa career, kino-consider ko yan eh. I recently graduated and I'm still not sure which path to take. I'm thinking that if I build my career in the foreign service, I will just stay single and I don't mind being one for the rest of my life. I don't want to raise my kids here because of the predominance of religion. However, what if someone who's amazing comes along? Should I drag him out of the country and convince him to build our lives abroad?

My family is uber-religious, so my lack of belief is hidden from them. If I ever have a family, I know I'll be pressured to raise my kids to be Catholic and say all that "papa Jesus loves you" stuff just to please my parents, and I can't find it in myself to do that.

TBH marami akong alam na nonbeliever. The ones I know tend to be the geeky, individualistic, introverted types.
