Maria Muriel Moral is The New Mrs. Universe - Philippines 2010!

1988 Miss Philippines-Maja International Maria Muriel "Lala" Moral was chosen as the country’s official representative and candidate in the 2010 Mrs. Universe Beauty Pageant to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from Aug.12 to 22.

MRS. UNIVERSE, the counterpart of Miss Universe, is the annual, international and global beauty pageant and competition organized by the 'Pramugo Akademija' Body of the Mrs. Universe Organization in Bulgaria (in Europe) and started in 2007.

The reigning Mrs. Universe 2009 is Mrs. Lithuania, Vaida Ragenaite. Lithuania is this year's contest host country. The world competition's theme for this year is: "Women of the World against Violence and Human Trafficking"

MRS. UNIVERSE ("Queen of the Universe") was organized for these worthy, universal cause, aim, and purpose:

"To celebrate, honor, and uplift the image of today's women of the universe who are responsible for the home and family, and who play important roles not only in the family (as wives and mothers) but also in the society (as career women in different fields), and to promote and uphold worldwide the significance of marriage and family, and good family values as well."

Now 46, Lala Moral is married to businessman Joeffrey Pandi by whom she has two sons, Joram and Jared. Pandi is a board member of the Provincial Government of Camarines Norte where the family is based.

Lala finished both elementary and high school a valedictorian at the Colegio del Santisimo Rosario in Libmanan, Camarines Sur and graduated with a B.S. Civil Engineering degree (now a licensed civil engineer) from the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) in Naga City ("The Heart of Bicol") in Camarines Sur in 1985. She was Miss UNC Friendship in 1983, Miss UNC Coed in 1985, Miss Bicolandia in 1987, Miss Philippine Eagles in 1987 before she won the Bb. Pilipinas-Maja International in 1988.

Maria Muriel Moral is an international winner and awardee. When she represented the country in the 1988 Miss Maja International Pageant in Puerto Rico, she won the Best in National Costume Award and the Miss Maja Simpatica Award.

As I've known, MRS. UNIVERSE doesn't mind the age of the delegate as long as you have a nice and pleasing personality and good character and you are not 60 years old. So it's 59 and below and you should be married, of course. Though it's a beauty competition, MRS. UNIVERSE doesn't mind very much about physical beauty (not that so vain) as they are matured and responsible women.

In MRS. UNIVERSE, BEAUTY or BEAUTIFUL means not only just physical beauty (of face and body which is the very common concept of beauty of so many people here) but IT IS the TOTALITY OF PERSONALITY OF THE WOMAN (INTELLIGENCE, GOOD CHARACTER, AND YES, PHYSICAL BEAUTY). As you would see, in their swimsuit competition, they wear only 1-piece swimsuit (not bikini!) and even with a wrapped-around scarf-like cloth on their waists (not showing too much skin) for modesty.

The purpose of the wimsuit competition is to show and reveal that even if they are already married women and mothers, they can still maintain their good looks, trimmed figures, still physicaly fit and healthy. Thus, they serve as good inspiration and encouragement to others to take good care of their body and health.

MRS. UNIVERSE is looking for the Woman of the Universe who is more than a wife and a mother, the Woman of the Universe who epitomizes the modern married woman of today with the important roles that she does and play in the global society as a whole.

Through its annual contest-event, the aim and objective of Mrs. Universe is to foster friendly relations and international understanding among the nations of the world.
