    Miss Judy Ann Santos~Part 188~HATING KAPATID...Love Will Keep Us Together...

    Welcome to our 188th Home!

    Love Will Keep Us Together
    Original: Captain and Tennille
    Revival: Sarah Geronimo

    Love, love will keep us together;
    Think of me babe whenever
    Some sweet talking girl comes along singing a song --
    Don't mess around, you got to be strong,

    Just Stop, 'cause I really love you,
    Stop, I'll be thinking of you --
    Look in my heart and let love keep us together.

    You, you belong to me now,
    Ain't gonna set you free now;
    When those girls start hanging around, talking me down,
    Hear with your heart and you won't hear a sound.

    Just stop, 'cause I really love you; stop, I'll be thinking of you --
    Look in my heart and let love keep us together, whatever.

    Young and beautiful someday your looks will be gone;
    When the others turn you off who'll be turning you on?
    I will, I will, I will

    I will be there to share forever;
    Love will keep us together.
    Said it before and I'll say it again, while others pretend,
    I need you now and I'll need you then.

    Stop, 'cause I really love you; stop, I'll be thinking of you --
    Look in my heart and let love keep us together, whatever.
    I will, I will, I will

    Stop, 'cause I really love you; stop, I'll be thinking of you --
    Look in my heart and let love keep us together, whatever.
    I will, I will, I will, I will.

    THE ACTRESS AND THE PRODUCER

    Santos was discovered at the age of eight, when she passed the audition for Regal Films' Kaming Mga Ulila, a project that became a TV series instead for GMA. Santos's first title role is on IBC-13's Ula, Ang Batang Gubat before forging a long-running television career with ABS-CBN. To date, she has starred in one episodic youth-oriented show (Gimik), two anthologies (Star Drama Theatre Presents, Judy Ann Drama Special), five tv specials (from 2002's A Birthday Wish to 2009's Kuwento Nating Dalawa), ten television series (from Kaming Mga Ulila to Habang May Buhay), one sitcom (George and Cecil), and one reunion show (Your Song Presents: Gimik 2010).

    Santos has appeared in more than 60 movies, winning the Box Office Queen trophy at the age of 21, and amassing 12 Best Actress awards to date in the Drama, Fantasy, Horror, and Comedy genres. She has made several movies with Star Cinema, Regal Films, Viva Films, GMA Films, and other production outfits. Her latest movie is Hating Kapatid which is set to open on July 28, 2010.

    In November 2006, Santos was awarded her own star in the Philippines Walk of Fame. In March 2007, she was also inducted into the Paradise of Stars in the Mowelfund Compound. Both honors were spearheaded by German Moreno. In December 2009, ABS-CBN proclaimed Santos as the Face of the 60 Years of Philippine Soap Opera and Reigning Queen of Teleseryes. Most recently, YES! Magazine ranked her the Number Two Celebrity Who Ruled the Decade (2000-2009).

    Santos became a first-time film producer via the independent movie Ploning where she also played the title role. The film was the official entry of the Philippines for the Best Foreign Language Film category to the 2009 Academy Awards. Santos received two Best Film awards as co-producer of Ploning.

    THE RECORDING ARTIST AND THE PRODUCT/POLITICAL ENDORSER

    Aside from television and film, Santos also parlayed her mass appeal into the recording industry. Her television characters were featured prominently in the album covers of such soundtracks as Esperanza and Krystala, but she herself sang on two tracks in Musika Ng Buhay Ko. Released in 2007, this CD chronicled Santos' 20 years in showbusiness through personally handpicked film and TV theme songs. This was her first solo recording venture after two certified platinum efforts (1999's self-titled debut and 2001's Bida Ng Buhay Ko) produced and released by Viva Records.

    In addition, Santos is considered a top celebrity endorser in the tri-media advertising industry, lending her name to both new (ex. Fitrum, ForMe) and established (ex. Tuseran, Pantene) products in billboard, television, and print. In YES! Magazine's List of Top 10 Celebrity Endorsers based on the quantity and impact of their advertising campaigns in 2007, Santos ranked #4. In YES! Magazine's List of Top 20 Celebrity Endorsers based on the total (approximate) income in 2008, Santos ranked #6. However, based on the total number of endorsements in 2008, Santos ranked #2 with 24 tri-media endorsements.

    Santos' appeal went beyond the commercial arena with some political analysts claiming that she helped Senator Jamby Madrigal win a Senate seat in 2004. In 2001, Madrigal ran for senator under Joseph Estrada's party but received few votes. In 2004, Madrigal finished fourth in the polls. Five aspiring presidentiables running in the May 2010 elections reportedly talked to Santos' manager and offered name your price deals to secure Santos' endorsement, but all were declined. In addition, COMELEC considered Santos to be the face for its voters' education program since she has declared that she will not endorse or campaign for any presidentiable.

    THE MAGAZINE COVER GIRL AND THE EXECUTIVE EDITOR

    Santos has appeared in countless glossy magazines since she lost considerable weight in 2001. She was the cover girl of the first edition of YES! Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful Stars in 2007. In the early quarter of 2009, a Star Studio special issue published by ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. simply titled Judy Ann Santos was released featuring her life, her joys, her loves, and her dreams. In that magazine, Santos also exhibited her skills in writing as she was the Executive Editor.

    THE PHILANTHROPIST AND THE INDUSTRY ADVOCATE

    Santos is head of the Touch A Heart Foundation (launched in 2004), which addresses the educational and agricultural needs of a community of Aetas in Bataan, and provides medical supplies for the hospital in Cuyo Island, Palawan. A housing project to help revive the careers of veteran actors, small-time comedians and action film sidekicks is also in the works.

    Santos, together with director Dante Nico Garcia, launched the Ploning Foundation on February 22, 2009. This foundation aims to inspire filmmakers to make quality projects intended for a global audience and to impart what the Ploning team learned during their Oscar campaign.

    THE CERTIFIED CHEF AND RESTAURANT ENTREPRENEUR

    Santos took up a Culinary Arts Course at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies under the tutelage of Chef Gene Gonzalez where she graduated with distinction. She is now training for certification as a professional chef. She also had a crash course in International Cuisine in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Last July 6, 2009, she passed the Exam for TESDA National Certification and received a Certificate of Competency. She was also the owner of the resto-bars Kaffe Kilimanjaro and Kaffe Carabana.

    MARRIAGE, FAMILY, AND SHOWBIZ RELATIONSHIPS

    Actor-TV host Ryan Agoncillo proposed marriage to Santos on her 30th birthday. Media confirmation followed only on June 19, 2008 because the couple wanted to keep the engagement to themselves. The couple were married in a private wedding ceremony on the early morning of April 28, 2009, in the San Juan de Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas.

    Santos has an adopted daughter named Johanna Lois (Yohan) that she has also kept away from the public eye. Yohan will have the last name Agoncillo as soon as the legal documents are finalized.

    In their first sit-down interview with Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda as a married couple, Santos revealed for the very first time that she had two short-lived showbiz relationships (no names were given) before dating Agoncillo.

    On March 12, 2010, Agoncillo announced in Eat Bulaga that Santos is indeed two months and four days pregnant, as he showed the ultrasound image of the baby to an ecstatic studio audience. In a short phone patch interview, Santos expressed elation over her condition and said it was something they had waited for. And on May 29, 2010, the couple confirmed in Startalk that they are expecting a baby boy.[/I]

    DESIGN OF A DECADE (2000 to 2003)

    2000: BOX OFFICE QUEEN. 1999's ISUSUMBONG KITA SA TATAY KO is the first Philippine-produced movie to hit the 100 million peso mark in domestic earnings. The release of KAHIT ISANG SAGLIT strengthened her status as a moneymaker for STAR Cinema as it became her second film to make more than 100 million pesos. On the television front, her second MMK guesting in the episode Karnabal earned a KBP Golden Dove nomination for Best Drama and a first-ever PMPC Best Single Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role nomination.

    2001: JUDY ANN DRAMA SPECIAL & SA PUSO KO IINGATAN KA. After three outings in STAR DRAMA THEATER (the first young star to be featured before other young stars followed suit), Judai finished headlining her very own drama anthology and returned to her teleserye stomping grounds. A more mature Judai emerged in SA PUSO (with Piolo) as she played a married woman for the first time in her Primetime Bida career.

    2001: MAALAALA MO KAYA & BAKIT DI TOTOHANIN. The MMK episode entitled Basket earned KBP Golden Dove and CMMA Best Drama awards, as well as a Finalist slot in the 2002 Shanghai Television Festival. Meanwhile, BAKIT DI TOTOHANIN made a killing in the box office, further solidifying the Judai-Piolo loveteam, and almost clinching another Box Office Queen title for her.

    2002: MAGKAPATID (directed by Joel Lamangan) was a turning point in her film career in many ways. For the first time, she played a mother of two kids - mouthing suggestive dialogue and engaging in sensitive scenes. This breakthrough performance earned her a first-ever GAWAD URIAN nomination in the Supporting Actress category. Judai started to be more choosy in her roles in a year where she had six film releases (excluding a cameo in Jologs). ABS-CBN produced a TV Special which was aired just in time to celebrate her 24th birthday.

    2003: COMMERCIAL SUCCESS + CRITICAL ACCLAIM. TILL THERE WAS YOU ranked 2nd in Box Office receipts to Ang Tanging Ina. MANO PO 2: My Home (directed by Erik Matti) turned out to be the film that will bring her a first-ever acting trophy in the Supporting Actress category in 2004 from the newly-established award-giving body GOLDEN SCREEN.
