NPD: Android is now top-selling OS in American smartphones
By Vlad Savov posted Aug 4th 2010 10:46AM
Step aside, BlackBerrys and iPhones, the American consumer has voted with his wallet and picked Android as his favorite flavor in the quarter just gone. NPD's number crunchers have just announced their findings for Q2 2010, concluding that 33 percent of phones sold during the period had Android on board. This marks the first time in eons (Q4 2007, to be more precise) that RIM has not held the crown of most purchased smartphone OS on US soil, with its BlackBerrys accounting for 28% of the market and Apple's iPhone occupying third spot with 22%. Motorola and HTC are the key suspects fingered for Android's continuing ascent, with the "large screen allure" of their handsets playing well with the buying public. Skip after the break for a more detailed breakdown.

Guys may alam ba kayo apps to better manage my contacts? hirap magdelete ng madami wala kasing parang mark or mark all feature like in symbian phones. also, wala din group contacts para groups messages.
wiimote does not work on the galaxy S! bluetooth 3.0 is not backward compatible..
ammmmp!! so not cool..
^kala ko pwede din yung wireless controller ng ps3?
Hm... I just installed MapDroyd the other day. It's not as pretty as Google Maps (uses openstreetmap.org), but it supports offline storage hence you can use it without internet connection.
installed navdroyd![]()

200,000 Android Phones Are Sold Every Day

New Smartphone Users Prefer Android, Old Ones Prone to Ditching BlackBerry
The folks at Nielsen have crunched some numbers and noticed that over the past six months new smartphone subscribers were more prone to choosing an Android-based device than an iPhone. But that's not all that shocking though, is it?
According to Nielsen:
While the iPhone has been the headline grabber over the last few years in the smartphone market, Google's Android OS has shown the most significant expansion in market share among current subscribers. Android's rise is even more noticeable among new smartphone subscribers in the last six months where Android has nosed past Apple's iOS in the last quarter to grab a 27% share of those recent smartphone subscribers.
What needs to be kept in mind while looking at these numbers is that there are only four generations of the iPhone on the market—with one single carrier in the US—while there are plenty more devices which run the Android OS available on just about every US-based carrier.
While sorting out the new smartphone subscriber numbers, Nielsen also took a look at the loyalty of current smartphone subscribers. It turns out that BlackBerry users are the least loyal out of the bunch lately, but even that isn't overly shocking considering RIM's lackluster new products.
What I'm looking forward to seeing is charts like this about a year from now, once Windows Phone 7 Series devices have been on the market for a little while. Hopefully there'll be some surprises by then.

It's so oddly reassuring that a fart simulator is in the top 20 all time paid App Store apps, isn't it? Maybe that's just me.

hello Android phone users...
question lang po. napansin ko kasi.. this sales lady is telling me na instead of vivaz pro try ko daw x10 mini pro dahil android phone daw sya at ang vivaz ay symbian (not sure sa spelling)
akin lang is what is in android OS na make it so hype? akin kasi is.. mas malaki ang screen ng vivaz tapos playback din..
I mean... ok this is an android phone and this one is symbian.. so what now? thus, it make a difference...
ang alam ko lang upgradable ang android OS at maraming application na download-able (Hoping na libre sya).
