Marvel fashioned a "new" fury based on Jackson for their Marvel Ultimates story arc. (i know a lot who aren't fans of Ultimate Marvel re-imaginings though) he leads.. well... the 'Ultimates' a revised Avengers.
also Neal McDonough (the gay guy form desperate housewives) is set to play (and hopefully bulk up and grow a mustache) Dum Dum Dugan in Captain America the First Avenger, wonder if he'll make a pitstop in the Avengers...

My guess for the plot in Avengers movie: Loki will manipulate humans to use the cosmic cube to open a bridge to Asgard/Jotunheim then use the cube to conquer/destroy it.
