Another question po... How to get in Grand Palace via BTS? Let's say from BTS Nana. Ang Calypso Cabaret Show saan po sya located? Thanks!
BTS to Saphan Taksin then river ferry to Grand Palace. That's how I did it.
How about yung Calypso? Sa may asiqtique riverfront na ba sya located? So same na sa Saphan Taksin BTS then river ferry to Asiatique Roverfront?
Try Googling or search in Tripadvisor Bangkok forums.
anyone who'll be in bangkok next week? can i join you? solo backpacker here.![]()
@sarahpoot.. walang metro station near the grand palace.. if you still insist on using the metro, just get off hua lamphong or national stadium station and take a taxi going to the grand palace.
sa calypo cabaret naman, we took a taxi from khao san road eh. in your case take the skytrain and get off at ratchathewi station. walking distance na calypso from that station to Asia hotel (nandun ang Calypso)![]()
hello.. just wanna ask kung magkanu ang budget for a 3N/4D tour to Bangkok?
^ depende nga yan sa activities and hotel mo. Back read ka, gawa ka ng trial IT.. magkaka-idea ka kung magkano magagastos mo based on your trial IT.
Finally tickets booked! Will be flying from Singapore to Bangkok aboard Thai Airway's Airbus A380. Hehe. Excited.
Next up: to book accommodation naman. Was initially looking at Four Points by Sheraton but mahal na rin pala considering 4 nights kami dun. :-P
Nice Airbus A380!
Guys question. Okay ba ang Amari Watergate Hotel? I might check in and attend a conference there on October 17 & 18. Might stay for 3 days more.
It'll be my first time in Bangkok if ever I'd show up for the conference.
What are the places/activities you can suggest for a memorable trip and the best place to dine & shop?
Thanks in advance.
Anyone bangkok-bound next weekend? Hehe naghahanap lang ng makakasama.![]()
Anybody knows a place where I can buy Pororo stuff? Magbi-birthday kasi ang anak ko next month and she's a big fan of Pororo so we intend to have Pororo & friends as our birthday theme.
I just got back from a trip to Thailand. Almost 1 week kami sa Bangkok. Free and easy lang. No fixed itinerary whatsoever. The only touristy thing we did was visit the temples and see Siam Niramit.
1. We stayed in First House Hotel in Pratunam area. We paid ThB1,300 for a twin room. Inclusive of a buffet breakfast (na paulit-ulit lang. After our 3rd day, sa iba na kami nagbreakfast!). Breakfast includes toast and jam, fresh fruits, rice noodles, fried rice, juices, coffee, tea, chicken wings, sausage, stir-fry noodles, and sauteed veggies. The bed is really small though (hindi kasya ang 2 tao). Pwede naman magpa-add ng bed for just 700 (kasama na ang buffet breakfast). What's nice about this hotel is it's right smack in the middle of the shopping areas. After exiting the main entrance, Pratunam Market na.
2. Shopping areas. From simple shirts to fancy dress meron lahat sa Pratunam. Kung gusto n'yo naman ng airconditioned tiangge, go to Platinum mall. Within walking distance from First House Hotel ito. Mura rin dito and they give generous discounts din. Mas organized at less chaotic compared to Platinum. Pwede ring makipagtawaran dito. Andun 'yung Indra Regent Mall. I spotted some casual coats (same as those being sold in F&H) for as low as ThB600! Shorts retail for 200/pc. Mura rin yung mga skinny jeans and casual/ formal pants.
3. Temples. On our way to the temples we decided to take the BTS (Ratchaprarop station). But this is FAR from First House Hotel. We walked for 15 minutes to reach the station. Kung 3 o mas marami pa kayo, take a cab instead. Cabs in Bangkok are relatively cheaper than the ones we have here. Nung nasa train station na kami, we realized that we didn't have enough baht! So we hailed a cab to take us to a money changer then to Saphan Taksin station. After changing money at a local bank, I told the cab driver to take us to Saphan Taksin for the boat ride (Grand Palace, Wat Arun, etc). He asked for ThB50 which was cheap! Even cheaper than the train fare for all of us. However, when we reached our supposed destination, I realized that we were taken in a tour boat company! The agent were quoting us ThB2,000 for the whole tour (which was outrageous considering that the regular boat fare was only ThB15/person). So we left the place. As we we leaving the office, we saw our cab driver waiting (para sa komisyon nya siguro kung kumagat kami sa offer. hehe!). Medyo nainis ako at kinausap ko sya. He was very apologetic naman and offered to take us to the public boat station. Naawa naman kami so we gave him an additional ThB20.
4. Siam Niramit. Tip guys, if you want a cheaper ticket, go to ANY tour agency in Bangkok. I got our tickets in a Pinoy-owned tour agency right across First House Hotel. The name of the agency is Lucky Kabuhayan Tours owned by the very friendly Tita Juliet. She offered us ThB1,500 for the show, buffet, and transpo! I've read negative reviews about the buffet spread in Siam Niramit. Personally, I liked it. The staff were super friendly. I didn't have to ask for water refill. The buffet spread was average. Hindi ko alam kung saan nanggagaling yung pangit na reviews about the buffet. It wasn't that bad naman. I particularly liked the broccoli in cheese sauce, dory in lemon butter sauce, roti (a bit on the oily side) and that spicy dip (saraaaaap!). I highly recommend Siam Niramit. So if you're staying in Pratunam, sa Lucky Kabuhayan Tours na kayo kumuha ng tickets for Siam Niramit.

I remember we bought t-shirts (good quality) for around THB90. Natawaran namin yung I*n*t*s*i*k* beho na nagbebenta dyan. lol.
After exhausting yourselves with shopping, you can go to Baiyoke Sky Tower to relax/eat and enjoy Bangkok's skyline.![]()
