My flight's tomorrow and I haven't packed yet.

Is it easy to get to the city-center from the airport? I asked the hotel to send a car to pick me up but the service costs 2000+ Baht.

    thanks
I've been to Sirocco Restaurant (new year's dinner treat from my hubby). But the view is really amazing.

I think the cheapest drink they have is a bottle of Singha beer for Baht 350 (2011 price).

I think mahirap magpapalit ng peso sa Thailand. It's better kung dollar or atm ang gamit mo.

Pwede rin kayong sumakay ng train (Airport Rail Link) from the airport to your hotel. Baba kayo sa Ratchaprarop Station, 5 minutes walking distance to Baiyoke Hotel. Mura lang, 45 Baht/person.

To be honest, you only need to see three temples in Bangkok. All three are right next to each other - Grand Palace, *** Pho, *** Arun. Wear pants for Grand Palace.

For commuting to Ayutthaya, go to Hua Lamphong station (it's the last station in one of the metro lines). There's a tunnel that connects to the railway station. A train leaves BKK every hour for Ayutthaya. The price of the train ride is... 15 baht! That's a third class ticket (most trains don't have 2nd or 1st class cabins). Trip takes 2 hours barring delays.

Once there, try to nego with a tuktuk driver to take you around for 600-800 baht. There are entrance fees of 20 baht per temple if not mistaken. It was the Princess' birthday when we went so it was all free.
For Pratunam, the food is cheaper and better in Shibuya 19's (Soi 19) compared to Platinum. Also, there's an A&W at Pantip if you miss it already.

the best time to go there is from Sept. when the temperature start to dip and the wild sunflowers bloom carpeting the hillsides ang ganda!

sa sidewalk lang naman itinitinda mga fruits. if you're in downtown, along Ratchaparop rd., the area where CentralWorld is. or, sa fruit section ng Big C, Tesco Lotus, Carrefour

walang 'season' ang fruits sa Thailand, kaya number 1 exporter sila ng fruits sa buong mundo. unlike sa Pinas na dictated by the weather. hindi naman kasi binabagyo, very rare. all year round may mangosteen, lychees, durian, dragon fruit

i'd suggest you bring home those giant lychees, dragon fruit, green mangoes (ang tamis!)

meron. may 1-day pass, 1-mo. then there's the 'rabbit pass' stored value card mas maraming load lang kesa sa 1-day pass.

  14. #2294
    question...

    1. Pano po pumunta from airport to NOVOTEL in silom via skytrain?

    2. Puwede maguwi ng mga fruits from Thailand to Pinas not lining sa nothing to declare?

    3. From Novotel Silom.. pano po pumunta sa JJ market

    thanks po sa sasaogt...

Hi, keyser_soze. Pakuha naman ng advice from you kung ano ang dapat naming kunin na pass sa BTS/MRT. We'll be staying 1 whole week in Bangkok early October and we do plan to take the BTS/MRT primarily in going around Bangkok, meaning no taxis/tuktuks as much as possible. Ano bang mas maige naming kunin na pass, yung 1 day pass for each day na sasakay kami, or 1 mo. pass, or stored value? Pa-include na rin kung magkano ang presyo for each para may idea kami sa gagastusin for this. TIA!

  16. #2296

i don't think you'll need a 1mo. pass. anyways ganito systema nun, 15/25/40/50 trips can be bought for 375/575/840/1,000 ThB cards respectively. kelangan gamitin mo within 30days, after that expired na.

first of all, download and print a copy of Bangkok's Airport Link/BTS/MRT railway routes

    http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/ima...nov2010_ok.jpg

    then follow these tips:

    1. Suvarnabhumi airport to Novotel (Silom)
    - take the 'Airport Link' train to Phaya Thai station. the rail station is at the 2nd basement of the airport.
    - get off at the last station in Phaya Thai, and take the 'BTS Skytrain' bound for On Nut.
    - get off at the Siam interchange station, and transfer to the Skytrain bound for Wongwian Yai.
    - get off at the Sala Daeng stn. from here you can take a tuk-tuk, or taxi to Novotel. look out for their free shuttle. yung ibang hotel kasi normally may mga shuttle sila na nag-aabang ng mga guests sa mga nearest BTS stations. coordinate with them in advance.

    3. Novotel to JJ market (Chatuchak)
    - take the BTS Skytrain bound for National Stadium at Sala Daeng station.
    - get off at Siam interchange station, and transfer to the skytrain bound for Mo Chit.
    - get off at the last station (Mo Chit). Chatuchak market is on the west side, you won't miss it.

    2. Fruits. the question is - gano ba karami iuuwi mo sa Pinas? kung small qty. lang naman for pasalubong na isisiksik mo lang sa luggage, o kahon mixed with other assorted articles, hindi na siguro kelangan i-declare. that's what i did. lol

    hope this helps.

Is is ok to get the Floating Market/Crocs tour from the hotel which cost 1500THB or commute going to Damnoen Floating Market?

The tour includes the RT ride to Damnoen FM, thai buffet lunch, boat ride, crocs and elephant show

Forget Pattaya, fly to Krabi or Surat Thani and go to either Railay, Ao Nang, Phi Phi (for Krabi) or Koh Phangan, Koh Samui (for Surat Thani)!
