Smile Bangkok, Amazing Thailand - Thread II

Since the first Bangkok, Thailand thread is now at like 6k++ in posts and Pex permits only 5k posts per thread, i humbly submit this thread. Yung mga masters ng first thread, sana po may mag-gawa ng ala HK thread na all-in info on the first page, that would be amazing too.

    Suvarnabhumi Airport Train Link

    http://bangkokairporttrain.com/index.html

The airport link is scheduled to commence full services on 23.August.2010.

Note: I read that the city line train only allows cabin-size hand luggage.

    ^^

    Day 1 - no comment

Day 2 - re money changer, bakit di na lang kayo dito sa Pinas magpa-palit ng Baht para di na hassle sa BKK?

    - temple tour in the morning and shopping in the afternoon is doable.
    - re where to eat - we ate kung saan kami abutan. madaming kainan sa BKK pero if you want something special, try the dinner cruise along chao phraya every night.

Day 3 - Massage is EVERYWHERE in BKK! Super dami and average fee is TBH 200-250 for 1 hour Thai or foot massage.

    - For more shopping, try MBK or Platinum. Until 9pm ata sila open.

Day 4 - Which floating market? If yung sa Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, ok lang na half day. Please note that if you will be booking a tour for this one, may mga "side trips" pa yan.

    - Between siam niramit and dinner cruise? incomparable naman yan kasi different experience. It's really up to you.

Day 5 - One day in Chatuchak is NOT enough kasi sobrang dami ng stalls!

I like the stuff in chatuchak as compared sa mga nasa malls. Yun nga lang wala aircon sa chatuchak!

Start early para di pa masyado mainit.

    Day two :
    - During your temple tour, don't forget to drop by the Golden Mount/*** Saket ; which isn't, actually, a natural hill, but a chedi/stupa who cannot stand because of the waterlogged soil.
It's a refreshing part of Krung Thep, with a nice view on the city.

Beware of the new rip off tuk-tuk drivers always invent !

    - Concerning Silom Night Market, I assume you're talking about Suan Lum. It takes place between the Lumphini and Silom MRT station (closer to the former, if I remember well).
But from Siam Square (Pratunam is only one block north), it's easier to take a cab. Fare shouldn't exceed sthg like 50 bahts, I suppose.

    - I like the restaurant at the ground floor of the Scala Theater.
It was reviewed by the Bangkok Post recently : http://www2.bangkokpost.com/leisure/...ndary-landmark

And the one who sells japanese style spaghetti at the back of MBK is funny too.
But there is a bunch of food courts, restaurants, streetsellers, anyway.

General comment : lots of shopping indeed.

    thank you for the replies...

question lang.. has anyone here tried canarytravel agency in bangkok?

I'd go for Siam Niramit. Watched the show last night and yung food pa lang sobrang sulit na yung THB1200.

There were over 15 dishes available, not including yung bread, salads and dessert. Sarap sarap din nung coconut ice cream nila. The foreigners on the other table even had to ask me what flavor it was thinking na local lang ako. When I said it was coconut, di sila makapaniwala dahil sa sarap.

I just took the BTS to the Thailand Cultural center where there was already a shuttle waiting to take people to the SIam Niramit Theater. The show itself was just spectacular, ganda ng effects. The part I like the most was when one of the performers took a dip on the river that they had set up on the stage. I didnt even know it was there to begin with! Ganun kalaki yung stage. They even had elephants, hens and goats on stage as part of their props.

i've replied to this in the other thread.

anyways, in case you missed that..

sa naia, magbabayad ka pa rin ng travel tax + terminal fee. sa suvarnabhumi airport, wala ka nang babayaran.
