if i were you, get some experience first, it's a big factor when you are looking for a job, if they'll ask you if you have experience in your field, what will you show them? the work permit will be applied by the company who is willing to hire you, it's not something that you'll apply by yourself. you have to be ready as well since there's a lot of locals here who might have the same skills as what you have and they are unemployed, so most likely, they'll be the priority. the keyword here is for you to standout among the applicants.
frankly, depende sa field mo ang availability ng jobs, right now, madami na ditong IT professionals, of course iba't iba ding subfields yan, like system administrators, desktop supports, or programmers, which iba iba ding programming languages. meron na din ditong sizable population ng pinoy nurses, architects and engineers.
to give you and idea on the housing costs, a 3-room house here will be around S$1600 - S$1800 (P51,200 - P57,600) so it's normal for those who are starting to share the house with other people. in our setting, the division is 40-30-30. The person who would occupy the master's bedroom pays 40% of the total rent, and the rest will pay 30%, and the rest(utilities) will be divided into the number of occupants.
hi super_man, what about single bedroom? i assume you're working there already?
would you have an idea how much a person could make with a 4year banking experience (assistant manager position)? i see a lot of ads in job street under finance with salaries ranging from 1.5k-2k but im not sure if its ok already?
im thinking of working there kasi.
^ average price for a single common room in a government housing is around S$480-550. if you're planning to stay in a condo, it will around S$750-800. most of the first timers here will get around S$1800-2500, depending on your bargaining power.
it's good for a start and you can later on ask for an increase after a year or some companies have a yearly increase. don't accept a job that will give you something below S$1800 as your employment permit might not be approved. try to ask for S$2500 plus overtime pay, if any.
hi superman, thanks for the input. if i apply in one of the ads in sg job sites and get accepted, what do i need to process? e.g. working permit; visas?? did u shoulder all ur expenses to be able to get there? thanks!
^ i applied to the job ads that were posted on jobstreet and there was this agency who asked me if I am willing to come over for an interview, so I did. since I have to serve two days of suspension due to tardiness with my job then, I chose to stick those two days with the two weekends so I got a four day rest. I used that four days to get a 4D3N travel package. but instead of availing the city tours and all other things, i went to the agency and to my surprise, they have arranged two interviews for me, so I went.
i didn't expect anything else, thinking that I just need a break from everything and it was my first time to go overseas and I was by myself. I came back with nothing, but a week after, the agency told me that one of the clients who i had an interview with has hired me and that my employment permit was being processed. so I have tendered my resignation with my job immediately.
i was the one who spent everything on my relocation. the agency just did the paper work, and they are the one who applied for my employment permit, which also serves as a multiple-entry visa.
i suggest that you read more on the different types of employment permit here in SG at http://www.mom.gov.sg
pwede bang magdirect application sa singapore as teacher? i heard kasi na kelangan muna mag undergo ng Singaporean education para makapagturo ka sa kanila. is this true?
hi
my parents are going to Singapore next week. and okay lang kaya na ipadala ko mga requirements ko? hindi ako makakasama, kasi i have duty in the hospital pa.. and we are planning na magpahelp nalang sa cousin ko, she's a nurse also. (papatulong ako to hunt for a job) is this a good idea? maybe ipa care of ko nalang yung address and contact number in case the company will reach me later on...
any insights?
TIA!![]()

Madami pa rin bang opening dito for Software Testers?
you only see it when you make the computation, once you are here, you are going to spend dollars too. for example, if you want to rent your own house with two bedrooms, it'll cost you S$1500 per month depending on the location, so it's more than half of your salary.
that's why it's common for Filipinos and other races for that matter, to live with other people or share the house with friends.
superman thanks for your infos
