uh yeah.. just don't talk to any other male strangers if you happen to be a married women or they might stone or burn you to death.

and don't get raped too! because it will be your fault and that will give your father/husband/brother the right to kill you so they can defend their "honor" if that happens.

    http://iranhr.net/spip.php?mot9

Iran Human Rights, November 29: A high ranking official in the Iranian police, said in an interview with the daily newspaper Etemaad that there have been 50 "honor killings" in the last 7 months. He didn’t mention whether this number is for teh whole country or not.

According to this official, number of this year’s honor killings is the same as last year.

Honor killing has been increasing in Iran in the past years. From a phenomen being limited to smaller towns in the outskirts of the country, honor killings are being observed increasingly also in the bigger cities:
A father killed his 16 years old daughter in Tehran reported the Iranian daily Etemaad. The girl who is identified as Nasrin was shot dead yesterday morning February 28.

The father, identified as Gholam Abbas, told the police that he had been suspicious of Nasrin’s behaviour for some time. That day she left the house early morning to meet a friend and when she came back around 9’oclock I shot her twice and killed her.

According to the police, the family seemed happy and some family members even thanked Gholam Abbas for killing Nasrin.

According to the pragraph 220 of Iranian islamic law, if father or father’s father killes his child or grand child, he will not be punished for murder.

Iran Human rights, June 15: A 21 years old girl was killed by her brother in the town of Haji Abad, near the southern city of Bandar Abbas, reported the daily newspaper Etemad, today.

The brother, who is identified as Morteza explained the story to the police: "Some time ago, a man with the name Hooshang proposed to my sister Marjan and ask us to marry her. Since he already had a failed marriage, we opposed his request. But Hoshang continued showing interest to my sister, and she got emotionally involved in him. We tried to talk to her and explained that marrying Hoshang wouldn’t be a good idea but she didn’t seem to be convinced. Early morning on MAy 11. my mother told me that Marjan had escaped from home. I got very upset and started searching for her. I felt that the family’s honor was in jeopardy. After three days I ehard that Marjan has returned home. I took Marjan to a room and closed the door and asked her to explain what ahd happened. She told me that she left home to marry Hoshang, but since it wouldn’t be possible to get married without our father’s presence, I came back home to convince him to come with us to the marriage office. After hearing her story I became very angry. She begged me for forgiveness, but I didn’t have any other option than killing her. I put a piece of cloth in her mouth. she didn’t show any resistance. With another piece of cloth I made a noose and put it around her neck and hanged her. My anger wasn’t finished. I took her down and stubbed her with a knife".

^ nothing to do with the contents of the Noble Quran...
    ----------

“As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active force in the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of woman comes from a defect in the active force or from some material indisposition, or even from some external influence.”
    St. Thomas Aquinas

"He who is involved in bringing up daughters, and accords benevolent treatment towards them, they will be protection for him against Hell-Fire"
    Prophet Muhammad (P)

“No wickedness comes anywhere near the wickedness of a woman.....Sin began with a woman and thanks to her we all must die”
    (Ecclesiasticus 25:19,24).

    1. Eve’s fault?
In the Bible: The serpent seduced Eve to eat from it and Eve, in turn, seduced Adam to eat with her. When God rebuked Adam for what he did, he put all the blame on Eve, “The woman you put here with me --she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it.” Consequently, God said to Eve: “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband and he will rule over you.”

Eve in the Quran is no temptress, no seducer, and no deceiver. Moreover, Eve is not to be blamed for the pains of childbearing. God, according to the Quran, punishes no one for another’s faults. Both Adam and Eve committed a sin and then asked God for forgiveness and He forgave them both.
    ----------

    2. Eve’s legacy
    “No wickedness comes anywhere near the wickedness of a woman.....Sin began with a woman and thanks to her we all must die” {Ecclesiasticus 25:19,24}

    “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I don’t permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner {I Timothy 2:11-14}

    “I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare....while I was still searching but not finding, I found one upright man among a thousand but not one upright woman among them all” {Ecclesiastes 7:26-28}

Check: {Noble Quran 33:35 / 9:71 / 3:195 / 40:40 / 16:97}. It is clear that the Quranic view of women is no different than that of men. They, both, are God’s creatures whose sublime goal on earth is to worship their Lord, do righteous deeds, and avoid evil and they, both, will be assessed accordingly. The Quran never mentions that the woman is the devil’s gateway or that she is a deceiver by nature.
    ----------

    3. Shameful daughters?
The Bible states that the period of the mother’s ritual impurity is twice as long if a girl is born than if a boy is (Lev. 12:2-5). The Catholic Bible states explicitly that: “The birth of a daughter is a loss” (Ecclesiasticus 22:3).

“Your daughter is headstrong? Keep a sharp look-out that she does not make you the laughing stock of your enemies, the talk of the town, the object of common gossip, and put you to public shame” (Ecclesiasticus 42:11).

“Keep a headstrong daughter under firm control, or she will abuse any indulgence she receives. Keep a strict watch on her shameless eye, do not be surprised if she disgraces you” (Ecclesiasticus 26:10-11).

    Prophet Muhammad (p):
“He who is involved in bringing up daughters, and accords benevolent treatment towards them, they will be protection for him against Hell-Fire” (Bukhari and Muslim).
“Whoever maintains two girls till they attain maturity, he and I will come on the Resurrection Day like this; and he joined his fingers” (Muslim).
    ----------

    4. Female education
“As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.” (I Corinthians 14:34-35)

Check: {Noble Quran 58:1}. A woman in the Quranic conception has the right to argue even with the Prophet of Islam himself. No one has the right to instruct her to be silent. She is under no obligation to consider her husband the one and only reference in matters of law and religion.
    ----------

    5. Unclean, impure women?

“When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening. Anything she lies on during her period will be unclean, and anything she sits on will be unclean. Whoever touches her bed must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whoever touches anything she sits on must wash his clothes and bathe with water, and he will be unclean till evening. Whether it is the bed or anything she was sitting on, when anyone touches it, he will be unclean till evening” (Lev. 15:19-23).

Islam does not consider a menstruating woman to possess any kind of “contagious uncleanness”. She is neither “untouchable” nor “cursed.”

You destroyed so easily God’s image, man. On account of your desert even the Son of God had to die.”
    St. Tertullian

“What is the difference whether it is in a wife or a mother, it is still Eve the temptress that we must beware of in any woman......I fail to see what use woman can be to man, if one excludes the function of bearing children.”

    SALVATION:
Christians say that "GOD LOST His only son to save us". To whom did God lose Jesus if he owns the whole universe?
    15. If it was agreeable with God’s Majesty to have sons, He could have created a million sons the like of Jesus. So what is the big clear deal about this only son?
16.Why does the Bible say that Jesus wanted to die on the cross, when the one on the cross was shouting "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" according to Matthew 27:45 and Mark 15:33?
    17. If God had wanted to save us, couldn’t He have done that without sacrificing Jesus?
    18. God is Just, and justice requires that nobody should be punished for the sins of others, nor should some people be saved by punishing other people. Doesn’t the claim that God sacrificed Jesus to save us because He was Just, contradict the definition of justice?
    19. People sacrifice things they have to get something they don’t have when they can’t have both. Christians say that "God SACRIFICED His only son to save us". We know that God is Almighty; to whom did He sacrifice Jesus?
    20. A real sacrifice is when you can’t get back what you have offered , so what would be the big deal about such a sacrifice if God could recover the same offering? (according to the Christians’ terminology)?
    21. If all the Christians are saved through Jesus and are going to Heaven no matter what they do, then the teachings of Jesus are irrelevant and the definition of good and bad are also rendered irrelevant. If this is not so, then do Christians who believe in Jesus yet do not follow his teachings nor repent go to Hell?
    22. How can Christians take deeds as irrelevant after becoming one when Jesus says in Matthew 12:36; "But I say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by the words thou shalt be justified, and by the words thou shalt be condemned"?
    23. Christians say that people go to Heaven ONLY THROUGH JESUS, yet Paul says in 1 CORINTHIANS 7:8-16 that the unbelieving husband is acceptable to God because he is united with his wife and vice versa, and their pagan children are also acceptable to God. So people can go to heaven without believing in Jesus according to this.
    24. How come the Bible says that ALL Israel is saved although they don’t believe in Jesus? Doesn’t that contradict the claim in the Bible that the only way to heaven is through Jesus?
    25. According to Christians, those who have not been baptized will go to Hell. So even the infants and babies go to Hell if not baptized, since they are born with an inherited original sin. Doesn’t this contradict the definition of justice? Why would God punish people for sins they never committed?

Jesus (PBUH), Given Clear Signs and Strengthened with the Holy Spirit

Those apostles We endowed with gifts, some above others: To one of them God spoke; others He raised to degrees (of honour); to Jesus the son of Mary We gave clear (Signs), and strengthened him with the holy spirit. If God had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If God had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but God Fulfilleth His plan.

O ye who believe! Spend out of (the bounties) We have provided for you, before the Day comes when no bargaining (Will avail), nor friendship nor intercession. Those who reject Faith they are the wrong-doers.

God! There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

^Are those references about Christians, or the society those women lived in?

Catherine came in after Peter the Great brought the Enlightenment to Russia, which was all about rejecting the old Christian-dominated order.

Joan of Arc was interrogated and physically examined by the Roman Catholic church, if it turned out she wasn't a virgin she would've been executed for her claims. How's that for appreciating women for themselves?

... oh, and Joan was burned at the stake for witchcraft.

Marie Curie was an atheist, and a Frenchwoman born seventy or so years after the French Revolution. Guess what 1789 did to Christianity in Europe.

Celine, truly a product of the nineties. I suppose the pope meant something else when he whined about the evils of modern society.

Christy inherited her husband's fortune. Is that Christian, or just plain legal?

The world doesn't revolve around religion.
